Mighty Wizard

This afternoon I'm joining with my Design Teammates as we open the Classic Design Challenge for May.   Our sponsor for the month is Fabrika Fantasy and I've selected Mighty Wizard for my project card.

This image is quite detailed and took a while to color.  However I just loved it because of the detail.

After sizing to almost 4" tall, I printed him on Neenah 110# cardstock and used my Copic markers for the coloring.  I added the Be Brave stamp with coordinating ink, then die cut the image to get the beautiful edge.

The card base is 5 1/2" square and covered with the aqua green marble patterned paper from Stampin Up.  Then I secured the image to the center of the card base.  I wasn't totally satisfied, as the contrast wasn't enough.  As you can see, I added two pieces of dark green cardstock on opposite corners. These were just random scraps but really added to the card and gave it the contrast needed.

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog. I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to 'Follow' my blog and to visit my site - "Not Just Scraps' on Facebook - where you can purchase my cards.

Listening to Nature

Recently, I ran across a selection of digital images on Etsy that intrigued me.  There were quite a few that the ladies had long flowing hair or braids and a few that included birds.

The artist is Mariola Budek and you know I had to have a few of these beautiful designs.

The first one I colored was 'Listening to Nature'.  Besides her beautiful hair, I loved the two little birds with her.

I worked on this last weekend while I was out of town on a crafting retreat.  She gained a lot of attention as the other ladies walked by and peered over my shoulder.

I used Copic markers for the coloring, going a shade lighter than normal since the image was slightly shaded in the printing.

Just as I was finishing my work, one of the ladies who had walked by several times, decided this one was going home with her.  She didn't want her on a card, but planned on framing her.  What an honor!

I then trimmed the image up a bit, and die cut the edge with Penny Black's Elegant Stitching.  I mounted her on the aqua print card stock that I die cut using the Tattered Lace Nested Beaded Chain die set.

Special Bunny Breakfast

For today's sharing, I'd like to show you a cute little card I recently made using The Rabbit Hole Designs, Bunny Breakfast.

I stamped this image on Neenah 110# card stock and then used my Copic markers for coloring.  Love the shades of light red for the bedspread and the bright food items on the tray.

I used Gina Marie Designs Pleated Ovals for the beautiful die cut edge.  I also cut a second piece using the smallest die in this set and stamped the 'Happy Mother's Day!' using Versa Clair Tulip Red ink.

The card base is a standard A2 size with a top fold.  I found the coordinating heart paper and secured it first to the base.   Then I added the colored image and sentiment to the front to complete the card design.

Live You Life

By a compass, not a clock ~ Stephen Covey

Today I'm sharing this beautiful image from Beccy's Place, 'Walk by Faith' digital package.

After sizing to about 3" tall, I added a layer with the sentiment and placed it close to the compass image.  The coloring was done with my Copic markers and the die cutting was done using Gina Marie Designs, Pierced Nested Labels.

I used an A2 size card base and added the background purple printed matting.  Then I secured the completed image to the center of the base.

I didn't add any ribbon or twine since I'm not sure when I'll use the card or if I'll add this to the store inventory for purchasing.

Party, Party, Party

As we start the last week of the month of April, I have one more card to share from the 7th Birthday Celebration for the Classic Design Challenge Blogspot.

The final sponsor this month has been Di's Digitals (another one of my favorite designers).

For the card of celebration using her images, I've selected Party Patch ~ A fun floppy eared pup ready to pounce on any thought of a celebration!

I sized the image to just under 4" tall, printed and used my Copic markers for coloring.  Next I used Sizzix Framelit Dotted Square die cut to get the dotted holed edge.

I selected the red starred paper and covered the 5 x 6 card base.  I pulled the sentiment from a birthday paper pack, and cut it to fit my card design.

I secured the image at the bottom left corner, then overlapped the sentiment slightly in the top right corner.  Lastly I added the green organza bow at the fold.

Dream Big Little Mermaid

There's nothing like the birth of a new baby! It's even more exciting when it's the first in the family.  The excitement is mixed with the tears of joy as everyone is trying to get those first photos through the hospital nursery glass.

That's the excitement that has filled the lives of a young couple who just had their first child several days ago.

Today I'm sharing the special card I made for her arrival.

Her parents love tropical fish (and many other animals) and they wanted her name to reflect their hobby.  When Finley came up as a choice, there were no others -
Finley it would be!

The image is one that I copied from a napkin and lightened to make the print.  I've used Copic markers for all the coloring and the Tattered Lace Nesting Pearls Square die for the aqua/green metallic matting.

There are so many big hopes, dreams and well wishes for this sweet baby girl. Today everyone is just happy she's healthy and her Mom and Dad are doing well.

Love Grows Here ~

Happy Saturday afternoon (from Silver Springs, Florida)!

My daughter and I have been here several days attending a Creative Memories retreat and having a blast!

I'm ready to share this adorable image from my newest Design Team - All Dressed Up.  This one is called Watering Can

To make this card, I started by enlarging the image to about 4" tall and coloring her with my Copic markers.   I used the Momenta Nesting Rectangles for the completed image and the yellow matting.

I covered the 5 1/2" square card base with the plaid paper, then added two additional die cut solids (yellow and blue) horizontally across the center of the card base.   I also die cut the stitched clouds and the smaller dies for the sentiment and matting.

I stamped a miscellaneous 'Love Grows Here' sentiment on the white tag and attached it to the blue die cut.

All the layers are attached using book binding glue as shown in the photo.   Lastly I added the deep peach organza ribbon and bow at the top fold.

Hooray ~ It's Your Birthday

Good morning from the Polkadoodles Design Team.  We hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Challenge 16 of the Polkadoodles Challenge Blog is now open for your viewing and entries.  Our Design Team challenge  for this week was to use a 'Pre-coloured Critter/Animal image'.   I have to admit, this is the first time I've ever used a precoloured image for a design team card!

For this challenge I selected Hooray - Sparkle Unicorn Coloured (DLPD8170).

I sized the unicorn to about 4" tall and printed her.

After making the 6" card base with coordinating yellow gold cardstock, I used the happy birthday paper and magenta polka dotted paper from the Polkadoodles Birthday Fun pack.

For the center piece, I cut a strip about 1" wide and secured it to the card front.  I used Jillian Vance's Stitch Dot Emerald dies for the unicorn and the magenta paper.  Placing the unicorn in my Misti,  I carefully stamped 'happy birthday' at the bottom of the image.   Then added the background and image to the card front.    Lastly I finished the card with the pale lavender ribbon and bow at the top fold of the card.

I hope you'll check out all the design team cards on this week's challenge and add yours in also!

With Heartfelt Sympathy

Another sponsor for April for the Classic Design Challenge's 7th Birthday is Keen Crafters.  The owner is actually on our Design Team!  Instead of a digital design, she supplied us with a digital paper pack.  I've selected Pretty in Purple and made these two Sympathy cards using two of the patterned papers.

I do love to color for most of my cards, however there is certainly a time in everyone's life where using digital paper to make your cards is the right answer.  They are a great addition to lots of colored images or solo as shown here.  I 'made them my own' but adding the sentiment, die cut edges and enamel dots.

Thank you Michelle from Keen Crafters for the beautiful paper packs.  Be sure to check out the Classic Challenge Blog to see other cards using digital papers and also to add yours to our challenge.

Be Gentle With Yourself

Today I'd like to share a card I made this weekend for a sketch challenge.  Anyone who crafts with me, knows that 'sketch' cards are my least favorite.  It's a visual thing - that black and white image just doesn't spark it for me - but show me a card made that is colorful, and then I'm good for the sketch.  Crazy right?

I recently ordered several 3D and regular embossing folders from the Stampin Up Discontinued Sale.  The Sea Shells is my absolute favorite!  This one I ordered the coordinating dies also.

So here's the finished card, using the folder and die, then a few things about how I created it.

So we started with this sketch and I did clarify that it wasn't a requirement to have Christmas trees ~ just two same objects.

Using white cardstock and the Stampin Up Sea Shell embossing folder, I made the front piece.  I trimmed it close to the raised edge (about 4" x 5 1/4") and then trimmed the light pink mat about 1/4" larger.

I used a wavy banner dye for the horizontal strip and the SU Seashell Dies set for the two small star fish shells.  After securing the banner to the card front, I added the two die cuts and then mounted the card front on a Kraft card base.  Lastly I added the randomly placed bling dots to complete this design.

Here's the link to Connie's Stampin Up website - there's still time to order the discontinued items !

I Stand at the Door

Today I'm sharing another page from my Bible Art Journal.

This scripture was Revelation 3:20, one that is familiar to lots of folks.

I've used Whimsy Stamps ~ DoveArt, Garden Door for my design.

I love this stamp and all the colors it allows for you to use.  You'll notice the greenery above the door and down the left side, is merely dots and squiggly lines that are then blended with the lightest shade of green.  Fun Copic coloring for sure.

When I completed the coloring, I trimmed close to the image and the scripture that I had printed also.  I cut the green matting piece to be the background for both pieces.

The green background matting is secured first into the art journal, then I added the bottom Copic colored image, squaring it up with the journal page.  Lastly I added the blocked scripture/sentiment in the center of the space above the colored image.
