Love You More than all the Stars in the Sky!

WOW! That's a Lot of LOVE isn't it?

Today's card was made and sent to a very special young lady, who's battle with cancer has been going on for quite a few years.
Having just graduated from the 5th grade, her cancer is back, stage 4, on her shoulders and hip.

But what a champ she is as she said,

"I'm going to be a three time champ!"

How can you not love her and want her body to be healed so that she is not cheated out of life itself?

My card base is 6" square and the image is Penny Black's Bye Bye Trike, which I stamped on Neenah 110" and Copic colored. It is die cut with Gina Marie Designs Double Stitched In and Out Stitched Oval die.  For the background I used  Whimsy Stamps Checkerboard Die on top of a solid red mat.  The sentiment is also from Whimsy Stamps ~ the Shine Bright clear stamp set and is die cut using the Pink & Main Stitched Rounded Rectangle die.

Thank you for stopping by to check out the details of my card today.  Your comments are always welcomed.

You're A FUNGI in a World of Toad Stools!

Today I'd like to share the card I just made for my son-in-law's birthday.  I used Whimsy Stamps', Gnome Me So Well, designed by Dustin Pike.

Isn't this a cute play on words!

The frog and mushrooms in the grass are part of the clear stamp package, which I stamped on Neenah 110# card stock.  I drew in the fat tree trunk to give the scene balance. I also added the Happy Birthday from the Whimsy Penguin Slides Set ~ love the font! The images are colored with Copic markers and I used the Gina Marie Designs Venetian Label Die for each layer.  After gluing to the Kraft card stock I added a strip from the Whismy Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Die along the bottom edge.

My card came out to be 3 1/2 x 5 1/2", which fit perfectly in a regular mailing envelope.  As with all Kraft card bases, I added a white die cut paper inside~glued to right side~ for writing.

This is also my coloring for Day 2 of the 30 Day Marker Challenge.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Your comments are always welcome.

Back In '36 ~ Those Were The Days

Wishing a wonderfully blessed day to all the FATHERS out there!

But of course...
I am wishing the best of the best to MY DAD!

As long as I can remember, I've heard him say..."back in '36" as he would start reminiscing about a fond memory or even about some wild joke!

But the favorite and most treasured (at least for my brother and I) will always be, when our Dad talks about the early DuPont days of moving to the tiny town of Williston, SC.....  where he was the "Star" quarterback his Senior year and all the memories of the influx of people and the rows and rows of housing trailers, filled with people to build this huge 'bomb plant'.  Where his Mom worked at the Cafe for his Step-Dad, and best of all... where he and our Mom fell in love.

While most guys would just shake their head if they got this for their Father's Day Card - not my Dad.  He knows making a memory card full of love is the best card ever.

(2014 Dad's Favorite)

I love you Daddy ~ Pam

Fishing You The Best!

It's not every day that you have a neighbor turns 89! But today is Mr. Frank's special day and it's an honor to make a card for him.

For his card, I've selected Whimsy's Gnome Me So Well,
by Dustin Pike.

I stamped the image on Neenah 110# card stock and used Copic markers. The card base is 5 1/2" square kraft paper. I used Pink & Main Dies for the background -Scalloped Square and the image and matting - Stitched Ovals.   I added a small banner at the bottom for the sentiment and brown twine with a fish charm at the top to complete the card.

I'm sure there are some big fish stories to tell, but now Mr. Frank is just as happy to take a ride with their dog Charlie at his side or work in his flowers in the yard.

Thanks for stopping by today. Your comments are always welcome.  Although this card was custom made for my neighbor, this pattern is available for ordering.

Back on the South Carolina Beach

Today I'd like to share a card I just made using one of Whimsy Stamps images, Penguin Beach Chair by designer Crissy Armstrong.  Although I used the digital version, this is also available in  rubber cling.

Who wishes you were in a chair right beside him? Those of us who live near the coast or at least can visit that area are truly blessed.  As I recently listened to a video by this designer, she casually mentioned she had never seen the ocean.

She's certainly not alone ~ however if YOU have ~ stop for a minute and think of the marvel of that creation by our Lord.  Think of all the sands on the beach and the scripture in Psalm 139 of God loving us more than the sands of the oceans.  Yes, I am blessed to be near the Carolina coast.

Mr. Penguin (in his Bathing Costume) was colored with Copic markers.  For those who have taken a class under this designer, you will know - how many markers are normally used for coloring the penguin to get the deep black shading?   And what number makes him shine?   I also used Gina Marie Design X Stitched Oval and Rectangle Dies throughout the card design.

Whimsy Stamps carries a wide range of the Penguin series, available in rubber cling and digital.  I invite you to pop over and take a look.  I'm sure you will like what you see.

Thank you for stopping here today to allow me to share today's card.  While this card has already been purchased, it is one I can custom make just for you.

Pam

O! Say Can You See By the Dawn's Early Light...

It is truly honoring to make and write about 4th of July / Independence Day Cards.  The bright red, white and blue combination of colors, ribbons and flowers, with the twinkles of gold sparklers, and the soft  waving United States Flag proudly flying!

Those were my thoughts as I made this four note card set using the Polka Dot Orchard's new digital set named America My Hero.

This package is larger than most of the others in the Etsy store, thus the slightly higher price. However, if you have been thinking about trying a set ~ now's the time ~ This set is NOW on sale!  Click HERE to hop over the Polka Dot Orchard shop, straight to the America My Hero package to make your purchase at 30% off!

For this group of cards, I took the image of the song ~ Star Spangled Banner ~ then in the next layer added the sparkler.  I positioned four of those on one sheet of card stock and printed.  Once cut into the 4 card size pieces (4.25 x 5.5) I die cut each one, and matted to my preference, then mounted to the card base.  I used glitter glue, glitter pens, and glossy accents to go over the sparkles randomly and put aside to dry.  I also pulled up four of the bolder words that are made for sentiments and printed those separately.  I trimmed those, then die cut or fussy cut and single matted in contrasting colors.  Once the glitter glue was dry - then I added the sentiments across the center of the sparkler and a red or white bow to complete the card.

Here's a peak at the cards up close.  Like with all my cards, they are available for purchase by messaging me.

Thanks for coming over today to see these cards - I hope you have enjoyed them and will try out the digital packages at Polka Dot Orchard.

You Got A Friend ~ Penny Black Clear stamp

The theme for the weekend challenge for Addicted to Card Making 2.0 was to make a new card with a 'boat' on it.   I had recently received a cute Penny Black clear stamp named "Friendship" that is a small boat full of FIVE puppies!   I think their individual expressions allow many different sentiments to be used in addition to the two that are included with the stamp.

Here is my inspiration card for the challenge ~

I stamped the image on Neenah 110 Card stock and used Copic markers for coloring.  The card is assembled on a 6 x 6  white card base starting with the largest die - Pink & Main Scalloped Square, then the next three are Postage Stamp Dies and the sentiment is a Fishtail Banner Die.  The Anchor charm was purchased from one of the local facebook sellers, Charming Embellishments.

You'll see this stamp again ~ it's a keeper for sure! This card is currently for available for purchase.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Your comments are always welcome.

You Are FOREVER My HERO

Good Morning America!

I'm thrilled this morning to bring you a new digital release from Polka Dot Orchard's Etsy store.  America My Hero was designed by Jeanie M. Hayes and contains 10 image stamps and 26 sentiment/word stamps that are high quality, transparent background, 300dbi, PNG digital stamps, all black & white line art.

For my project card today, I selected the flag banner, the mason jar with the American Flag in it, the Sparkler, and the sentiment that is the title of this article.

And here is my completed card ~

After selecting my images and layering the sparkler in the mason jar, I printed the card on Neenah 110# Card stock.  I used Copic markers for my coloring*, a yellow metallic pen for the sparkler and a white gel pen for the stars in the banner.  I have a handmade stencil for my clouds and I used my Quick Quotes Powder Puff - Blue Jeans Chalking Ink and a finger dauber to apply the blue shadows and to make the fluffy white clouds.

When finished, I cut out the image and a blue background matting piece with a cross stitched rectangle die and the sentiment with a small tag die. Then just glue the layers on, (I used my ph Neutral PVA Bookbinding glue)  add the four tiny red sparkles on the corners of the tag, and a white string bow at the neck of the jar. ~ and we're done!  A Bright  Hero Card ready to be packaged up for the mail.

Thank you for stopping by today to see this new release.  I hope you will click on the stamp title or the store link and check out this digital package or many of the digital packages available at the Polka Dot Orchard store. I'm sure you will find many things you will fall in love with!

Sunshine and Blue Skies Coming Your Way!

Surf's Up and Whimsy Stamp's "Dude" by CC Designs is being showcased today on the beach scene with his surf board wishing you a day of sunshine and blue skies!

This Polycraft designed image is presented in the digital format for my project card and available for purchase at the Whimsy store by clicking HERE.

For my card, I started with a 6" white card base.  I printed the character image separately and colored him with Copic markers*, and fussy cut him out.  I used the Whimsy Stamps Kinetic Straight Wave die with some double sided blue papers, cut a couple of times for the waves and stars.  The Sun is part of the Unity Stamps KOM,  07/13 {Spirit of Summertime} and the sand was 'dotted' in using a random selection of light Copic E series markers.  At the end, I added 'Dude' back into the scene by gluing him at his feet and putting several layers of foam squares at the back of his head.  He turned out to be a right cute little surfer boy ready to cheer up whomever gets to open the envelope!

Thank you for stopping by today. Your comments are always welcome.

Many Reasons to Smile

You know being a photographer that I could hardly wait to stamp this new Unity Stamps image , Pretty Girl, Smile by Angie Blom.

I'm sure she is selling like wildfire too, because it seems that everyone love any of Angie's images and ones with camera are awesome too!

I worked in reverse for this card, picking the COOL camera/polaroid frame/ lighten bolt glasses/rainbow paper and the white with pastel papers.  Using those as my theme colors I matched up the Copics ~ R20, BG45, BG57 and YG01 for the main colors and N1/N3 for the camera and finally E13, E15, E19 and E39 for her hair.  I used my normal skin tone combination adding E41 for the final skin tone.

I didn't have a 'camera' die but had a mini card die that resembled a camera so I altered it slightly and cut out a few additional pieces to make the polka dotted camera.  I die cut a peach pink solid piece  with one of the medium size postage stamp dies and then cut my colored image down to fit inside the die.  I used the sentiment from the Unity Stamps Reasons to Smile kit, also by Angie Blom.

For the card assembly, the cool radical paper images were random, but too widely spaced so I cut each with the small end of a tag die and then glued each one around the edge of the card.  The second layer is die cut with my Pink on Main Scalloped Square die. I added a few tiny aqua and yellow-green chip diamonds around the girl image for reflection and then used the Unity's black sheer Organza ribbon for the finishing touch.

I really appreciate that you stopped by today to see my card and welcome your comments.

You Are My Cup Of Tea

Today, I'd like to share my project card showcasing Whimsy Stamps digital of version of Sylvia Zet's, Daphene's Tea Party.

With the summer temperatures rising here in the sunny south, my version of this image is done in cool, clean, and crisp white and mint green.  I love the way the designer drew her hair into long flowing locks, with the tiny flower band.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I'm making today.  Your comments are always welcome. This card and others are available for purchase through Facebook messenger or locally at The Gallery in Newberry, SC.
