You Are A Gift From God

Today I'm posting with the Classic Design Challenge Blog Design Team as we open the September Challenge.  Sure does seem like it's too soon to be September doesn't it!  This summer has certainly gone by fast but as always, I'm ready for fall!

If you follow and enter the Classic Design Challenge, I'd like to say please note that we're making a few changes over there this month and over the next few months.  Our Admin/Lead Michelle will be taking a well deserved break for a while and Hester and I will be picking up the reins until she returns.  You will notice that the September blog will run until October 10th and the October blog will start on October 15th.  The blog will follow that schedule (closing on the 10th and starting on the 15th) going forward after that. There will be a few other changes, but for now that's the main one.  Now on to this month's...

Our sponsor for September is Polkadoodles Crafting which is based in the UK.  For my image, I've selected Sleeping Lily Ladybug Ladybird for my project card.

To make this card I started by sizing the image to just under 3" tall. I added the digital sentiment stamp under the image from another company, then printed them on 110# Neenah cardstock.   I colored her with my Copic markers and used Gina Marie Designs Frilly Lace Nested Circle Die for the edge.

The card base is a 5 3/4" square top fold and I added the magenta matting for the first layer after tying the pink organza ribbon around the center.  For the second layer, I secured a paper doily that is slightly larger than the completed image, and lastly secured the completed sleeping lily image to complete the card design.

You Are Amazing!

Today I'm sharing a recent card I made using a free digital image from Beccy's Place.  If you are new to the digital world maybe this is a way for you to try an image without feeling like you've engaged in a purchase.  Beccy has several on her website - she is such a gracious person!

For this card I've used her 'Pink Lily' and obviously made it a yellow day lily.

I sized the image to about 3" square and printed it on 110# Neenah cardstock.  After coloring with my Copic markers, I used Penny Black's Elegant Stitching for the image edge and the patterned background paper.  Both pieces were then secured on an A2 size card base.  I added the sentiment circle and the random green enamel dots to complete the card design.

Hummer In the Morning

Today I'm sharing a Thinking of You card I recently made and used for a sympathy card.

I used a wooden stamp that I scanned so that I could adjust the sizing.  This is Inkadinkado's 'Hummingbird Morning Glory'.

After printing the image about 3" in size, I used Prisma colored pencils for coloring the image. I colored several layers to obtain the dark tones and then used Gamsol and a Q-tip to carefully blend each area of color.

The decorative edge was achieved using the Tattered Lace Hemstitch Square die set.  I used the die on the completed image and on the plaid background matting.  Next I secured both layers onto a top fold white card base.  The sentiment is stamped and die cut from Sweet 'n Sassy's, Script Sentiments.  I secured it at the bottom right corner of the card front.  Lastly I added the light lavender organza ribbon and bow at the fold of the card to complete the design.

Sweet Treats

Today I'm sharing an extra image from All Dressed Up Digital Stamps.  This is Cookie Girl and I've made my card for the August Sketch Challenge on Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers.

Here's the sketch posted to follow:

I started by sizing the image to about 3 1/2" tall and printing her on Neenah 110 # cardstock.  All the coloring was done with Copic markers and are referenced below.

For the die cut edge I used PinkFresh Ornate Banner Die for the image and edged it with Copic R22.   The card base is 5 3/4" square with the fold at the top.  After securing the red dotted swiss paper to the base, I added the required 1/8" and 3/8" horizontal strips.  I had fussy cut the oven from some scrapbooking paper, so I secured it to the left edge, tilting it slightly.  You can't see it in the photo, but on the back of the image I added adhesive back foam and then secured the image to the card base.  This raised it up slightly above the stove and horizontal strips for a bit of dimension.  Lastly I added the gold twine wrap at the fold and the cute cutting board that also has gingerbread men.  I added a small glue dot behind the embellishment to keep it in place and complete my card design.

Gnometastic Birthday Surprise!

This week's Polkadoodles Design Team members were given a TRIPLE challenge for our inspirational cards.  They needed to be 1. Birthday, 2. Include a number, and 3. Use a color palette.

For mine, I selected Polkadoodles Gnometastic Birthday Surprise digital for the main image and made this 'Over the Hill'  Easel card.

I started by sizing the image to about 3" tall and layering in the '40' in the balloon.  I printed this on Neenah 110# cardstock.
This is the color palette we were given to use ~
and I used my Copic markers for my coloring.  The edge is die cut using a standard rectangular stitched die.

For the Easel shaped base, I started with the deep aqua green solid cardstock, cut 5 1/4" x 11".  It was scored at 2 3/4" and 5 3/4" to make the tent fold.

On the top of the 5 1/4" piece, I added two 3/4" strips from the Polkadoodles Birthday Fun Paper packI mounted the colored image on the balloon paper (4 5/8" x 5 5/8") and then added the solid yellow cardstock (5" x 5 7/8") behind it.  Then I secured this piece to the folded 2 3/4" piece to fit under the edge of the candle strip.  Lastly I used a black fine point sharpie to hand write on the flag 'Over the Hill!'.

A Bright Hello

Today I'm sharing a brightly colored floral card I recently made using Unity Stamps, Inked Florals - Background.  A friend of ours was in rehab following a stroke and I wanted to send her something to cheer her up and bring a smile to her day!

I started by stamping the image with Versa Clair Black then heat embossing with clear.  I used my Copic markers for the coloring and then trimmed to fit the front of an A2 card base.

Once secured on the base, I added the hello sentiment in the center and finished the design with a piece of ribbon trim that was used as a package bow on a gift I received. Do you ever recycle things onto your cards?

I love the bright colors with the coordinating pink card base and hope that it helped her feel better when she received it.

Twice the Fun!

Today I'm sharing a card of encouragement that I recently made for a card swap.  I've used the 'Popsicle' image from  All Dressed Up Digital Stamps.   What a fun image for a summer card.

As you can see I like her so much that I duplicated her and flipped her horizontally to have two on my card!  Then I added the sentiment between them before printing.

I used Copic markers for all the coloring and used a new die, Ornate Banner from PinkFresh Studios for the multiple layers.  For the card base I cut the dark green cardstock into a mini slimline and added the multicolored background paper, then each die cut and the completed image.  Lastly I secured several tiny coordinating diamond bling dots randomly on the card front.

By the time I finished this card, I really wanted to keep it!  But I did send it on to my card swap partner.

Sending You a Blessing

Today I'd like to share another card from a weekend challenge.  It was to make a card that was using either ~ tractors, farms, fields or plants.

For mine I selected Unity Stamps, 'Older but Wiser' by Artist Tierra Jackson and paired it with the scripture from Deuteronomy 28:8.

I started by stamping the image using (brown) Versa Clair ink and heat embossing with clear powder.  I colored the tractor with my Copic markers which are referenced below.

I used a dark chocolate coordinating mat and cut the completed image and mat using the dome shaped die.  Several scriptures fit this image but I particularly like this one, so I prepared it on the computer, printed it on cardstock and mounted it on the same dark chocolate cardstock.

I used a 5 1/2" kraft card base and covered it with the yellow patterned paper.  I secured the tractor image near the top left corner, then added the 3/4" green strip across the entire front of the design.  Then I added the sentiment below the tractor.  Lastly I wrapped the golden twine several times around the fold and added the cross at the loopy bow to complete the design.

Pretty Posies

Happy Monday from Jan's Digital Stamp Design Team as we bring you our Mid Month Inspirational cards.  I've selected Jan's "Pretty Posies" for today's card.

I started by sizing the image to about 3" tall and printed it on 110# Neenah cardstock.  For the coloring I used my Copic markers and then die cut the pretty edge with Gina Marie Designs Pierced Nesting Labels.

I used a muted aqua mat on the white A2 card base then secured the completed image to the center and added the Hello sentiment at the bottom right corner.   I added several wraps of peach twine at the fold and secured with a loopy bow.  For the final step I added Diamond Stickles on the heart and the center of the daisies.

Go Where Your Heart Takes You

One of the weekend challenges that I participated in this weekend was a 'mountain' scene.  For my card, I selected The Paper Rose, "On the Road" stamp.

I stamped this image on watercolor paper using Pinecone Versa Clair ink and heat embossed the image. Then I painted the image using an everyday watercolor set from the local craft store.

I selected a deep chocolate brown matting and used Carnation Crafts, Pretty Shabby Square Labels die set for the image and matting.  For the card front I used a piece of my 'treasured' handmade eco-leaf paper I was gifted from my friend Lynne.  It was perfect for this image.  Then all the layers are secured on a side fold 5 1/2" Kraft card base with a twine tie and leaf charm in the knot.

Once in a Life Time

Once in a life time...

there are so many things that can finish that sentence.

Today is the birthday of a new friend I met at Stamp Camp 2023.  It was a once in a life time event and the eleven new friends I met during those five days have truly been such a new blessing.  Each one bringing a new and different joy in my life, from a different walk in life to a different crafting style.

For my card for Lisa - I selected one of the backgrounds I made at the Stamp Camp,  using an inked stamp and an inking a stencil over it.   Then separately, I stamped the hummingbird and flowers from the Stampendous set.  I colored them with copic markers and fussy cut them out.  I raised the flowers on the card front with foam and secured the hummer with a wobbler to add a little fun to her card!

Happy Birthday Lisa!  Hope you have a very blessed and wonderful day!
