Christmas Joy

It's another Christmas Card Stash Building weekend on one of my card swap sites!  If you aren't working on your stash, consider whatever weekend falls near the 25th of each month, to try to do at least one Christmas themed card.  Even the few you accomplish during the year will really set you up for better success during the busy holiday season.

The specific challenge for this weekend was to include a Christmas die in the card design.

For my cards, I decided to use one die set and make four cards from that set, using the different dies.  I'm using Spellbinders S5-430, Holiday Block Words

Since these are all die based cards, I'm not including any instructions today.  All of them are on standard A2 sized card bases.   I hope you will enjoy them and that they will inspire you to pull out a Christmas die and see what pops up.

I'll be entering these in the following challenges:

God Knows

For today's featured card I've used one of the C. C. Designs 20's Fellas clear rubber stamps.  All three of these little guys are just too adorable, so you know you'll see more of them.

Here's what I came up with ~

I stamped the image on Neenah 110# cardstock and added the scripture reference next to him. I used Copic markers for coloring and have listed them below.

I wanted the background paper to show as much as possible, so I trimmed close to the colored image and added the coordinating blue heavy line for contrast. The twine string with the charm is just enough to balance the card and complete the design.

Always Be Your Beautiful Selfie

Summer Time here we come!

After stamping the image and sentiment on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used my Copic markers for coloring.  This is another quite tall image so I trimmed it close to the completed image in order to allow room for matting.

For the background matting, I used a red and white striped paper that coordinated with the girl's bathing suit.  Then added the festive stars and chevron banner above the colored image near the fold of the card base.

I Never Thought I'd Get Old!

This past weekend one of my older lady friends celebrated her birthday while we were away on our crafting retreat.  She used to own and manage a very successful catering business, so Stamping Bella's Curvy Girl Baker was the perfect image for her birthday card.

After stamping the image on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used Copic markers for coloring.  The Gina Marie Drop Pendant die worked well for the tall image and allowed space for adding the humorous birthday greeting stamp that I added.  Her favorite color combo is red and black, so I covered the A2 card base with red and white polka dotted paper before securing the colored image in the center. The black organza bow completed the card design before filling it with birthday wishes from all those attending the retreat!

Peeping In to Say Hello There~

I'm traveling home today from a four day retreat in VA on the James River.... so a quick Hello There from my favorite animal  ~ the giraffe!

This is one of those stamps with no manufacture's information (sorry) but about any stamped giraffe would work.  I used a brush, chalking ink and a stencil for the clouds and then attached this to the back for the die cut window frame. Next I slipped  the frame in the Misti and stamped the "hello there" in the center of the bottom frame.

I used an A2 card base and covered the front with a navy patterned paper then added the window with the giraffe to the center.  For the finishing touch, I added three mini silk flowers.

Life is Short

Good afternoon - It's a double posting Friday for me ~ time for Colour Crazy Challenge new sponsor release. We're welcoming Star Jam Lines

For my card today, I've selected their Gnome Cooks image.  Everyone loves Gnomes!

I used Copic markers for coloring this cute image.  Afterwards I placed the image inside an A2 card base and positioned the sentiment tag where I wanted it to go. Then I took my oval dies and selected the size large enough that would cut the card front so you could see the image and the sentiment tag.  I covered the front with the patterned paper I wanted to use, then die cut through the front only.

Once lined up, then I trimmed the colored image and secured it inside the card base, attached the sentiment tag and the measuring cup charm.

Lastly I added the wooden rolling pin and tied it with a yellow string.  Life IS Short - Lick the Bowl every chance you get!

Love All

This morning I'm here with the Polkadoodles Design Team for Week 21 and I'm bringing you their "Owl Love" from the Too Cute Collection. She is swooping in on the Wobbler card carrying heart strings and love to all who see her!

I used Copic markers for coloring both the bottom and the duplicated image that I cut out for the wobbler.  The background clouds are done with a brush and Raspberry chalking ink.

The edging is done with Gina Marie Designs Labels Six as well as the background matting.

You Lift Me Up

I'm back again with a second image from Imagine That Digi Stamp set for May - Go Fly A Kite.  Today I'd like to share the little mouse flying his kite.

I used my Copic markers for coloring and instead of using the normal "N" or "C" series I selected the 'BV' markers. They gave a great purple-ish gray effect to the little fellow and allowed great blending for the yellow and lavender clouds.

After coloring I used a Pennant die and then modified it by using another longer stitched line die to cut off the top to the size I needed to fit my card base, resulting in a pocket.  I tucked part of a paper doily inside and secured all to the deep purple mat then attached that to the card base to complete the card.

I Have a Hero

Today I'm here with Jan's Digital Design Team for our mid month inspirational posting.

I've selected one of her newest releases Dad & Son for my card today.

One of the fun things to do with a digital image is to just use part of the image.  You see this done a lot with florals where they are stamped or placed in the corner of the card base.

For my card today, I've used just the hand and top portion of the guitar along with the sentiment.  I think it gave a unique effect for this father's day or birthday masculine card.

After printing on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used Copic markers for coloring.  The Gina Marie Wonky Stitched Square die was perfect to frame the completed image.  I added the brown string and Music staff charm, then  double matted before adding to the coordinating teal card base.

I hope you will check out the other new releases and digital stamps on Jan's site HERE and join the Blog Challenge with your cards HERE.   I always appreciate you stopping by to see what I'm working on and invite you to follow my blog or contact me about ordering cards any time.

Power Poppy Sachet Bag

Today I'd like to share the Mother's Day Card I made for one of the very special ladies in my life.

This beautiful Lavender Sachet Bag is by Power Poppy.  The image comes with the tag blank.

I sized the bag to just under 4" tall and about 3 1/2" wide, printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock and colored it using my Copic markers.  The edging is done using the Penny Black Elegant Stitching die set.  Once completed, I selected shades of coordinating lavenders for the 6" card base, patterned background paper and the solid horizontal strip.  After securely layering these, I added the three pearl enamel dots on each side of the image and then added the iridescent ribbon around the top fold with a heart charm for the finishing touch.

Have a Bright & Sunshiny Day!

Today I would like to share with you the clean and simple card I made for one of the weekend  challenges.  The goal was to 'Let The Sunshine In' by adding a sunshine or sunburst to your card.  Here's what I came up with and then a few steps about making this card.

I think I should call this a DC card - or Desk Cleaner card.  I seriously started cleaning off my desk and putting the bits and pieces together to come up with this card!  I'm sure you have done the same and come up with some great creations!

I had purchased Doodlebug Design's BBQ ephemera package from Scrapsalot, and was able to start by using pieces from that package - the sentiment banner at the top and the 'required' sunshine start off the card with a big bold title.  When I found the cloth patch of the adorable kitten (again while cleaning my desk) I decided she needed to be the center of attention.  I cut  additional circles for the background and secured them to the  card base then added the fabric kitten to the center.  Just that simple of a card yet super cute!

Hooray!

Today I'm joining up with my fellow Design Team "A" members on Colour Crazy Challenge for an extra posting.  Polkadoodles Crafting is the sponsor for the week and I'm using Winnie Fruit Punch for my project card.

And also a very happy 2nd birthday to AAA Birthday Challenge Blog as they celebrate with their Blog Hop!

After sizing Winnie to about 3" tall and printing her on Neenah 110# card stock, I used my Copic markers for coloring.  The stitched decorative edge on the colored image and the background mat was done with the  Memory Box Wrapped Scalloped Rectangles die set.  I added the die cut Hooray and several gold metallic enamel dots to complete the card.

Chicken Soup Cures Everything

I'm back today with another cutie from Digi Doodles Chicken Soup Pairables. This time the Chicken Soup Cures Everything is my featured image.

After sizing to about 3 inches square and printing on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used my Copic markers for coloring.

With the soup bowl having the red polka dot pattern, I found a coordinating patterned dotted paper to cover the front of the card base.

I used the My Favorite Things Stitched Scalloped Basic Edger dies for the curved edges on the image and the card base.  To complete the card, I added the organza ribbon with the contrasting red strip of ribbon.  I love how the bright colors of this card and it's cute design turned out - it's sure to help someone feel better!

Be Still

Today's card was made from a stamp that I've had a while - and never used.  After I made this card, I just loved it.  It's a clear stamp, no manufacturer (I'm sorry I'm not to be able to share that info!).  Of course adding the scripture to any of our cards always takes them up a level. Wouldn't you agree?

To make this card, I stamped the images on Neenah 110# cardstock and used Copic markers for coloring. The decorative edging was done with the Penny Black Elegant Stitching Rectangle die set.  I mounted the colored image on an olive green mat, and then a standard A2 card base with a side fold. The scripture verse from Psalm 46:10 was pulled from a scrapbooking paper pack and added as the next layer.  Lastly I added the green string and bow at the fold to complete the card.
