National Coffee Lover's Day

You know how you feel when your day starts off without your coffee?  You are just dragging yourself along, eyes halfway open, feet shuffling, wondering why you got out of bed...

I seriously think I've been having one of those days all week long! Here it is Thursday and it still feels like a Monday!  I guess it couldn't have anything to do with my last weekend's activities of hosting 20+ ladies for the Fall crafting retreat or only getting about four hours of sleep each night right?

As my friend Valerie always says, 'Sleep is just over-rated!'  But on top of that... it seems I've totally missed National Coffee Lover's Day which was YESTERDAY!  Seriously - missed it completely!

So better late than never... Here's my Coffee card ~ to celebrate National Coffee Lover's Day.

My image is from Bugaboo Digital images  (BUGMISJJCOFFEE) which of course are no longer in business.  I sure do miss them and like many, hope that one day they will be able to reopen.

The card image is printed on Neenah 110# cardstock and colored using Copic markers.  I used a black liner and a lavender patterned matting on the A2 sized card base. I just love this sentiment!  After securing all the layers, I added the wooden latte cup on the left to complete the card.

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to “Follow” my blog and to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards.

Go Wild!

Today I'm sharing one of the many projects that was included in the goodie box for the Fall ~ For Keeps Sake Retreat.

While the theme of the event is kept a secret, a hint or two is usually posted on the group page.  This is the photo of the hint this time ~ Any guesses?

Not much help is it - other than maybe an Egg?    Nope...

In their box of goodies, each lady received an unassembled die cut Joyful Giraffe by My Favorite Things- with lots of tiny pieces and two tiny goggle eyes.   There was also a 12 x 12 piece of Giraffe 'skin' paper in their paper pack.

At their leisure they could assemble the giraffe and use it as a card front or in their scrapbook layouts.

Here's my birthday card that I completed with my die set.

Several sentiments were also included in the package to allow each person to customize their creations.

The possibilities were endless and fun!

Can you tell yet, I love giraffes!

Heart and Home

It won't be long before Jan's Digital Design Team is back showing you lots of new stamps but I couldn't wait to show off this one with her Pumpkin Blessings.  This isn't a new stamp but one that is a treasure for sure.

I've made today's card into a "fun fold side lift" format ~ with the back of the card longer and the vertical strip extending.

I printed the image and sentiment on Neenah 110# cardstock and used my Copic markers for coloring.  The fall colored plaid papers were the perfect accents for matting the completed image and the vertical background tab.  I added a dark hunter green liner behind the colored image and also on top of the plaid strip.  Then the colored image is mounted on the left side and a brown ribbon is knotted over the vertical strip with an additional metal heart to finish the design.

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to “Follow” my blog and to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards.

For Keeps Sake Retreat ~ Fall 2021

Another wonderfully relaxing retreat has come to a close here in South Carolina where we enjoyed 4 days at Camp Kinard located outside of Batesburg-Leesville.

Other than a few that had to cancel at the last minute do to illness (oh how we missed them!) we enjoyed several fun projects and lots of laughs while we made cards, scrapbook pages, digital pages, diamond dots and other miscellaneous crafts.

I'll be sharing several of the crafts in between my card postings over the next few days.

Everyone loved the theme ~

It's a ZOO Out There

I'm Falling For You

Autumn leaves, pumpkins and the crisp air of fall ~ it won't be long before Halloween will be here too!  For this week on Polkadoodles Challenge Blog, I'm sharing Winnie Wednesday Bat Girl in a few non-traditional colors.

The creamy ivory and deep aqua pumpkins give a rich feeling when mixed with the blacks and oranges of the fall season. I've added a 1/8" black liner to allow the Copic colored image to pop.  The card base is covered with digital ghost paper from the Halloween Trick or Treat Digital Papers 3 package and that piece has the black liner also.  I added the organza ribbon around the background matting before gluing to the card base, then added the colored image.  At the knot, I added a large 'BOO' charm to complete the card.

Meer-y Christmas!

It's time to add to my Christmas Stash, with this weekend's challenge "Christmas card with an animal".

Today I'm featuring 'Imagine That Digital Stamps' September Digi-of-the-Month release, "Meerkats". This package comes with 7 outline images, 7 colored images and 11 black sentiments by Artist and Owner Kris Breach.

Don't forget - Enter her blog challenge using this set by the end of September and you will get the next month's set FREE!

Here's my completed card ~

For this card, I used two of the images and colored them using Copic markers.  I backed each with coordinating deep red paper and then used a green plaid matting on a light green A2 sized card base.  To finish the card I used a coordinating red organza ribbon.

I'll have to admit, I've never colored a Meerkat, so Kris has once again opened another door for many card makers with this month's image!

Hello Lovely!

Today's featured card is showcasing Persian Motifs from Altenew.

Also today's card was sent to my sweet church friend Helen who is celebrating her birthday today!

For this card, I simply stamped the design and colored using shades of blue Copic markers.  Afterwards I trimmed to 5 1/2' x 3" and then cut a navy blue mat 1/8" larger.

I used a light blue 6" square card base for this card.  I added the sentiment Hello Lovely straight onto the card base, then secured the floral and matting to the left side.

The great thing about card designs like this one is that any sentiment could go on the right side.  It's perfect for making ahead to have in your stash.

Sheepski Guest Designer Entry ~ I Spy Something Blue

Last month I was thrilled to see one of my cards take the WIN on the Sheepski monthly Facebook challenge.  I won a free image and also the honor to be their Guest Designer for today's publication.

Their new challenge is 'I Spy Something Blue' and I've selected Breezy Beach Walk #110 by Owner/Artist Andrea Norris. Let me reassure you - picking the free image and the challenge image was not an easy choice!  There are so many lovely images on her site! You MUST take a look and shop there.

Here's my completed card and then a few details about making it.

To make this card, I sized the image to about 4" square and printed it on Neenah cardstock.  I used my Copic markers (referenced below) for coloring.  When completed, I use Versa-fine black ink and stamped the scripture sentiment from Isaiah 43:2 in the sand near the bottom left.

Next I used the Tattered Lace Lacy Days Square Dies for the edge of the colored image, then cut a 1/8" larger solid purple mat that matches the girls gown, and a 1/8" larger solid salmon mat that coordinates  with the sunrise background.  Each layer is securely glued down to the top fold card base using bookbinding glue which prevents wrinkling.

Now for the QUIZ:  How many 'B' items are in my card?  My answer will be posted in the blog later this week.  There's a small treat for one lucky person who gets the correct answer in the comments below on the random date that I choose to look back.

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to “Follow” my blog and to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards.  Thanks again to  Andrea Norris of Sheepski Designs for allowing me to join her team today as their guest designer. Be sure to see what her Design Team posted today on the Challenge Blog and join in!

Endless Gratitude

Well Stamping Bella has done it again...

The new release last month with more little Bundle girls, Oh My Goodness.  My crafting budget went out the window!

For today's card I've used Girl in a Wagon (EB1040).

I stamped the image on Neenah 110# cardstock using Memento black ink and used my Copic markers for coloring. I returned the image to my Misti and stamped the sentiment using Versafine ink.  The sentiment is by Penny Black and is from Eloquence. I used Gina Marie Designs Nested Scalloped Stitched Rectangle Dies for the image and the olive matting.  There is an additional solid rose colored mat cut 1/8" larger than the colored image and added between the two die cut layers.  All three layers are secured on the top fold A2 card base using book binding glue.

Carve Your Blessings in Stone

As summer is drawing to an end, some families and couples are making their way to the coast for one last visit before buckling down for the school year.  There is nothing quite like the calming peaceful feeling you can get when you simply stand in the edge of the ocean water and watch the sand change the surface around your feet with every wave that comes in and leaves out.

Jan's Digital Shop has a beautiful digital called The Sandbox that has both the beach images for the kids and also the image below for the older cards or crafting projects.

For today's card, I have pulled the image of the sand castle, standing in all it's glory and the sentiment wording which are so very powerful.

'Write Your Worries in the Sand, Carve Your Blessings in Stone.'

What a beautiful verse that could be followed day after day, if we could just focus on our blessings and wash our worries away in the swift sands of the ocean.

After Copic coloring the image, I used the Memory Maker Matinee Edge die to cut the decorative edges.  Partial pieces were used for the corners of the matting behind the colored image.  Then the image and mats were secured to the A2 sized card base which I had previously covered in black card stock.  I finished the card by adding the small fish tail die from a scrap of coordinating paper.

I'd challenge you to make a card of encouragement and send to someone you know who might be sufferings during these trying days.

Turtley Awesome Birthday!

One of my friends has been an active member of the Sea Turtle Rescue along the coast of SC for several years.  I really have enjoyed some of his postings in the past and started sending him 'turtle' birthday cards in honor of this volunteer work.

Today's card is this year's card for Lee's birthday - It's KLM Digital Designs Chillin' Turtle.  I decided at THIS AGE he must surely need to be slowing down and chilling out!

To make this card I printed the image on Neenah 110# cardstock and used Copic markers for coloring.   I used Unity Stamps Cloud stencil and chalking ink for the fluffy clouds. For the decorative edges, I used Gina Marie Designs Nesting Labels Six.

After securing the layers on an A2 sized card base, I added the coordinating aqua ribbon tie to a wooden fish tail Happy Birthday tag and added it to the bottom of the card front.

Happy Birthday Lee!

I Baked You a Cake

Today's featured card is from C. C. Designs, Roberto's Character's Digital Designs.  Here's Baker Nancy doing what she loves best, baking a birthday cake.

I sized the image to about 3" tall, printed her on Neenah 110#  card stock and then colored her using my Copic markers.  I used the Gina Marie Designs Labels Six for the image and the red coordinating mat.  The A2 size card base is covered in a red and pink patterned paper, then the image and sentiment.  The pink double looped organza bow completes the card  and she's ready for mailing.

Celebrating 'The Glass Angel'

Today I'd like to share with you a card I made for one special lady.  My sweet, amazing, hilarious, crazy and deeply caring sister-in-law is also the owner and operator of a beautifully unique Stained Glass store and studio in Burlington, NC.  This month she is celebrating 25 years of operating her business at The Glass Angel!  In today's economy, we can all really appreciate that it's no small feat and join in congratulating her.

I found this image as a free coloring page using 'stained glass angel coloring page'.  After enlarging it to about 3" square and printing on Neenah 110# card stock, I used my Copic markers for coloring.  After completing the coloring I hand cut the image and then printed the familiar scripture from Psalm 46:5.

The card base is 6" square and I used the Tattered Lace Nested Beaded Chain Square die for the background soft blue paper and the same die in the Rectangle pattern for the lavender horizontal matting.  After securing each layer, I added the three enamel dots to complete the card.

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to “Follow” my blog and to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards.
