Seriously Franky?

During the recent annual Whimsy Stamp Retreat I had the honor of meeting their designer Deb Davis, aka Amped2Stamp.  She has posted some of the cutest cards over the past several weeks, using her Halloween stamps for other occasions.  Her Franken Bad Hair Day is one of my favorites and my copy came in this afternoon's mail!  Since last Friday was Frankenstein's birthday, I quickly put this 'Belated Birthday Card' together tonight in his honor.

Check out this Whimsy Stamp Collection and all the other great stamps they have to offer along with their newsletter and blog contests.  And thanks Deb, for another great and versatile Whimsy stamp design!

Thanks for stopping by and following my work.

Have a DINO-Mite Birthday!

Today's card was made especially for my grandson who will be celebrating his fourth birthday this weekend.
Dinosaurs are the theme of his bedroom and although he loves all the current fad toys, his box of dinosaurs remains special to him and probably always will.

The focal point of the card - the dinosaur, is actually one of the wooden painted pieces that you can purchase at your local craft store.  I had this in his box for his scrapbook but decided it might be too heavy for the page.
The balloons are stamped and die cut from a 2011 Whimsy Set ---  Balloon Sentiments {Raindrop Echo Designs} and the matching dies are Balloon Die Set {Whimsy Shapeology Dies}. The stamps and die have two sizes which really give you lots of options.
I added just a touch of Copic YG01 on the balloons and B04 around the edges, then used large pop dots after tying the strings.
The strings are tucked under the wooden piece and all are glued using my favorite pH neutral book binding adhesive.
With a few wrappings of fun yarn and mounting on a 6 x 6 card base, the completed card is ready for my Little Man's big day!

Happy Fall Greetings

Today's blog features a bountiful arrangement of fall flowers and pumpkins from Unity's Kit of the Month worked up in two different card layouts.

Both cards were stamped on Neenah card stock and Copic colored.  On the first one, I used the Gina Marie Pleated Lace Rectangle die set and the second card is a generic stitched oval die set.  The Happy Fall sentiment is from the Stampin Up, Harvest of Memories set by Joslyn Nielson.

Unity Fall Color Challenge

For the Unity Fall Color Challenge, I selected the bicycle image from the September 2017 Kit of the Month - So cute with the pumpkins tied on the back!

The image is stamped on Neenah cardstock and Copic colored. The die used for the border is the Gina Marie Wonky Stitches 4 Layers. After coloring the bicycle, I just wasn't sure what to do with the background.

Looking a several that have been done in the past, they all seemed to have been done in water colors which I really didn't have time to go dig out another group of supplies.  So I started pulling Copics, and pulling and pulling.

I'm not an artist but I was well pleased with the shades of purple at the bottom that not only gave the shadows of the bicycle but also gave the look of water or brick or even just the reflection from the setting sun.  So don't ever be afraid to just start adding to your background.  It's no big deal if you mess it up ~ it's ART.  It may not be your current way, but it may be a new door that is being opened for you to go through to something new in your life.

Creeping By to Say Hi!

Today's card is the last of my Halloween card as now I'll move into Fall cards,  with the leaves falling faster than rain her beside the waters of Lake Murray.  This card is for a young man in the Military Academy  ~ I am extremely proud of him and the progress he is making.  I think little notes of encouragement are very important while he is away from his close family and friends.

This one eyed monster is copic colored on Neenah paper and fussy cut, then applied to a regular A2 card base with a stitched mat background.  Black crochet thread was added  and a loopy bow.

and the cute inside

Hopefully that will give him a little chuckle during his strenuous day.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today and for following my work. This card can be duplicated and ordered through my site, Not Just Scraps; and will also be shown of the following sites.

An Alternate to Triple Stamping Technique

One of this months challenges on Addicted to Card Making was the Tech Challenge of Triple Stamping.  This is a fun technique and here is the reference YouTube video for you.
{ https://youtu.be/bmculp_tz74 }
However, I'd like to share with you an alternate way that my friend Jennie showed me, which achieves the same look and is a lot faster.  It's all a matter of preference, I'm by no means saying one is better than the other.
Here is my card using the alternate way ~ the card I sent to my swap partner in ATCM.  This is also one of my favorite Phyllis Harris designs that I specifically did in fall colors for the Unity current challenge.

Now keep reading if you are interesting in the alternate technique.

The key is you only color one image card or stamp your multiple images on one card.  Next select your THIN die set that has a multiple sizes.  This card used SIX sizes of this set.

Simply pick EVERY OTHER size and line up on your stamped or colored image card and lightly place washi tape to hold in place while you run through your die machine.
For this card, I went back and then used the alternating dies to cut the black matted pieces, however if you want the mats to be thinner, you can simply cut them slightly larger than the die cut images using your personal cutter.
Carefully build from the bottom, securing each layer with glue or tape, then secure to your card base.
And there you have it!
Amazing results ~ I can't wait for you to try it!

How Long Has It Been?

Today's blog features one of Whimsy's Halloween images and cards that we made during the recent annual Whimsy Retreat in Orlando, FL. The Grim Reaper is designed by Deb Davis, who I also had the honor of meeting at the retreat.

For the background we used our choice of Tim Holtz Oxides, mixing several colors together with daubers.  Then we used Copic Opaque White and put just a little on an acrylic block and mixed with a small amount of water, then flicked tiny dots of white onto the background colored card stock.  I also spritzed mine lightly with water to give it a few larger spots.
We then took the clear stamp image and sentiment and stamped heavily with a clear embossing pad and then  added black glossy embossing powder and heat set.
Strips of white gauze were included to add where you wanted, so a piece of mine became the knotted bow also in addition to the top and bottom small pieces peaking out the corners.

This project, like all the retreat projects, was a lot of fun to make. Thank you Whimsy Design Team!

Have a BOO-tiful Day!

I'm sorry for the plastic packaging glare as this photo was done right before mailing, but hopefully you can tell the sentiment does say "Have a Bootiful Day!"

This awesome Whimsy Stamp 'BOO" is designed my Crissy Armstrong, who I had the ultimate pleasure of meeting and sharing a table with at the Whimsy Retreat last weekend!  What a charming and sweet lady who is so open to sharing her talent!

Although this card was my first attempt at coloring the grey folds, it was before her lesson in taking your coloring to the next step.  I do hope with practice (and lots of it) to incorporate many of her wonderful ideas and inspiration.  But I'm also betting my soon to be four year old grandson, will be tickled at this ghost and especially the bulldog.

If you haven't entered the 31 nights of Halloween on the Whimsy Blog, be sure to check it out!

Halloween Witch Time

For my second entry into the
I'm entering the Hazel the Witch image which is
designed by  Silver Zet.

This card base is 5" wide by 5 1/2" tall.  A lot of the Whimsy images tend to fit better on a larger card base.  After stamping the image on Neenah card stock, I colored with Copic markers.  The edge is lightly highlighted with copic C3, giving the appearance of a narrow mat.  Then I double matted with Orange and Black before adding the Orange twine bow.  In my charm collection, I found a tiny stop watch that matched the watch on her dress!

Why Of Course I Can Drive a Stick

For my first entry into the Whimsy 31 Nights of
Halloween, I selected the Whimsy
Little Witch stamp designed by Art by MiRan.

After stamping the image on Neenah card stock, I Copic colored and carefully hand cut her out.  Then I used one of the Tim Holtz Mixed Media die set for the corner of the matting.  The image is raised with foam dots and the inside sentiment is the title of this blog posting.

Hello Little Birdie

Today's featured card is Unity Stamp Company's
Hello Little Birdie,
by one of their new artist, Tierra Jackson.

I stamped the image on Neenah Cardstock and Copic colored.  Then slowly fussy cut the image out so that I could weave him into the Abstract Hearts.
The Card base is a matching blue cardstock, custom cut to fit arond the Double Stitched Rectangle die by Gina Marie.  Background flower matting was just a scrap, as was the yellow to make the heart die.
The trunk of the tree is glued down then the top of the bird is raised with foam dots.  Then I added the yellow hearts, placing them under the wings of the bird.
With the many uses this card design could be for, I left off the sentiment from the front.
I hope you like Hello Little Birdie and will continue to follow my work her on Pam's Pearls.

Cutie Patootie Easel Card

I am SUPER exited to be heading out shortly for a much needed vacation ~ Florida Bound ~ and to the Whimsy Stamps Annual Retreat this weekend.   As if you couldn't tell by a lot of my blog postings, Whimsy Stamps are my addiction!
Today's card features the Frog Friend stamp by Crissy Armstrong and I'm showing you two ways that I used this 'Cutie Patootie" little curious fellow.
I had Copic colored two images and die cut each with a simple single stitched circle die and mat.
I found this scrap strip of gray card stock and decided to make a quick easel card.

Once folded, I added a small strip of fringed grass to hold the easel design in place.

For the second image I made a 5 x 5 card base, added a full coverage mat and a strip of contrasting green card stock.  then I added the  small red ribbon that is knotted with a tiny strip of green glitter tulle.

Both card turned out great but are very different.  Which one reminds you of your son or grandson?

Celebrate BIG

Today's blog card is another great Whimsy stamp image,
Celebrate Big, by designer Crissy Armstrong.

Doesn't he just make you want to celebrate!
This is a great image to have several colored ahead of time since there are many option of layout that he will fit perfectly on.
For this one, I used a single stitched oval die and mounted with small foam squares on top of the knot tied coordinating ribbon.
I pulled another small oval die which allowed me to add the
sentiments from this stamp package ~ Celebrate BIG.

I hope he brings a little smile and that you'll check out all the cards available for purchase on Not Just Scraps

Wyanet {Beautiful}

Today's card is was made for Native American Day
which is celebrated on the fourth Friday of September.
For this challenge on Addicted to Card Making
I selected the Whimsy Stamp, Wyanet, by my favorite Whimsy designer, Sylvia Zet. The name Wyanet means Beautiful, which the designer certainly accomplished with this sweet image.

After Copic coloring, I used a Spellbinder die for the decorative edge and added three bird feathers from my yard.

Thank you for stopping by today and following my blog.
