Happy 6th Birthday ~ Classic Design Challenge!

What better time to join a Design Team than in the month of their Birthday Celebration!  I'm super excited to be among so many talented ladies on this team and look forward to sharing  my cards  with them through this monthly challenge.  With this challenge being an Australian posting, you'll see the United States posting(s) around 4 pm on the last day of the month.

For the birthday celebration there were lots of sponsors!  I selected three for my projects to share today.  I hope you will enjoy each of them and follow the link to visit the sponsor's website to see more of their products.

First up ~ Whimsy Stamps.... (the company that allowed me to start my Design Team path.)

Here's Iris by Artist Sylvia Zet,  sharing her birthday wishes!

Iris is colored with Copic markers  and mounted on a 6" square card base with a purple dotted background and lavender organza bow.   Her wings are covered with clear Wink of Stella to give her lots of sparkle and shine.

Next up is Paper Nest Dolls', Party Chicks bringing their birthday present for the celebration!

They are also colored with Copic markers and framed with a navy heart frame on a polka-dotted matting.  This card base is 6" square and the sentiment is hand stamped from a miscellaneous birthday pack.

My third card is from Fred She Said and is a lovely pot of violets, named African Violets.  This package offers many variations from the single flower, to a grouping of three flowers, to the predesigned layout for cards ready to print and color.

I really enjoyed coloring these violets as they brought back so many memories of my Mom growing beautiful violets under the UV lights in the kitchen.  I've used my Copics for coloring and hand stamped a generic 'hello there' greeting for this one.  I added a light yellow organza bow for the finishing touch to bring out the flower centers.

I hope you were pleasantly surprised today when you popped in to visit my blog! Not often you get three cards in one day!  You can click HERE to go over to the Classic Design Challenge and see all the Design Team cards and enter your cards.

Hello Ladybird

Today's card is featuring the digital image  'Hello Ladybird' from Di's Digi Stamps along with a stamped sentiment.   This cute little girl and her puppy could certainly be used for many different occasions with the change of greeting stamp.

For this card, I sized her to about 3 1/2" tall and used my Copic markers for coloring.  I selected the Gina Marie Designs Labels Three set for the decorative edges on the image and coordinating red polka dot. Lastly I added the three enamel dots and the double looped organza bow for the extra feminine touch.

Pure Magic

Today I'm sharing a special birthday card ~ one I made for my favorite nephew a couple of months ago.  I'm sure it made it from SC all the way to AZ although you know sometimes we just have to assume it does.  Our kids, grandkids and others all are busy raising their families and dealing with the daily issues.  I know that he always enjoys receiving cards I've made and that in itself makes me one happy aunt.

This stamped image is from Penny Black, Inc. and is appropriately named 'WIZ'.

He's one of my Christmas presents and I love the details in the folds of his robe.

After stamping on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used my Copic markers for coloring this image.  I also stamped the sentiment from the same package using Versa Claire Monarch.

The 6" card base is covered in the coolest paper! I wish I could claim credit for making it, but I can't.  It's a result of cutting all of my 12 x 12 scrapbooking paper into 6 x 6 several months ago.  Quite a task but one of the best things I've done as a card maker to help me see and use my papers. This muted purple with splashes of pink, tan and gold was just perfect to go with the wizard and complete the card front.

Splash!

As with most March and April days here in the south, we get more RAIN and WIND than normal.  Here on the shores of Lake Murray, it sometimes feels like the wind is just going to blow us away!

But the Lord always sends the warm rays of sunshine to brighten our days and warm us.

There are so many caring people in our lives that bring happiness to us.  I think it's a gift we should never take for granted.

For today's card, I've used Artist Mo Manning's 'Splash' and added the sentiment from Simon Says Stamps for a special thank you card for a caring friend like that.

To make this card, I sized the digital image to about 3" tall and printed her on Neenah 110# cardstock.  The Copic colors used are listed below for you reference.

The decorative edging on the image and matting was done with the Gina Marie Designs Labels Six set.  The sentiment is from Loving Heart by Simon Says Stamps. As I was searching for a small umbrella brad to attach the sentiment to my card, I came across the larger metal umbrella in my stash.  I was thrilled that it fit the card perfectly ~ AND is one less thing going unused.

We Will Be Together Always

For our focus this week the Polkadoodles Design Team members are looking toward Easter animals.  I've selected  one of the newer images from the Love Always Collection for my card today.  These two bunnies are appropriately named Together Always.  Although I'm using them for an Easter card, I'm sure you'll agree they could be used for Valentines, Anniversary or just to say I Love You anytime.

I sized the images to just over 3" square and used my Copic markers for coloring.  I added the pink to yellow shades in the background to give the warm feelings of a sunrise or sunset.

The loopy die cut in navy cardstock is also from Polkadoodles - it's called Squarey Swirly Heart Die, and is in the Timeless Rose Collection.

Side by Side

Today I'd like to share another Penny Black image that I recently made up as an extra card.  This one is by Artist Mo Manning and is called "In Love".

After stamping the image on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used Copic markers for coloring (referenced below). After coloring I hand stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Claire Monarch ink.  Then I trimmed close to the image and added a 1/8" solid deep red matting.

The card base is 5 1/2" square with a cloud patterned matting added.   Next I added the completed image with matting to the card base and randomly added the three enamel dots.  The lavender organza bow completes the card design.

Love You To the Moon

Today I'm sending out Happy Birthday wishes to my Granddaughter Amelia with Polkadoodles Love You to The Moon happy Sparkle Unicorn.

I've sized the image to about 3 1/2" tall and colored her with Copic markers.  The two patterned papers are from Polkadoodles Tropical Fever craft paper pack.

After selecting the coordinating 6" aqua card base, I added the polka dotted square turned like a diamond, turned the corners under, and glued. The next layer is just a thin strip of the solid aqua to break the pattern.   The image and stripped mat are the next layer added slightly to the left of the center of the card front.  Although the Happy Birthday Polkadoodles die is quite large, it still fit nicely on the larger card base, hugging the image.  Lastly I added the yellow organza bow at the top left corner.

Filled with love and Happy Birthday wishes  ~ off it went to one sweet little girl who's growing up way too fast.

An Animal Gathering for Your Birthday!

Today I'm sharing a new Stampin Up stamp and die set that I recently purchased called Animal Outing.  Of course, I purchased it for the GIRAFFE... but I do love the other animals too!

I stamped the images on scraps of Neenah card stock and used my Copic markers for coloring.  Next I die cut them out and also die cut a strip of grass and a tree silhouette from my stash of dies.

I used a standard white A2 card base and built my little animal scene as shown in the photo.  Once everything was secured I hand stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment to complete this super cute card.

Hippity Hop

It won't be long ~

Today we're back with Jan's Digital Stamps and her Design Team has prepared another set of cards with her new releases and a few others for you.  I've selected one of the new April Releases ~ Easter Hippity Hop with a large Easter egg and two sweet little bunnies!

After Copic coloring I used a couple of small miscellaneous dies and a scrap of yellow dotted swiss to make the card base and assembled the card.

After everything was together,  I used Diamond stickles to add sparkles to the eggs and the bunnies' tails.

Now it's ready to be delivered.

You Make Every Day Fantastic

Today we're kicking off a new week at the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog with our sponsor Ching-Chou Kuik.  I've selected their Hummingbird image for my card.

I've used my Copic markers for coloring and then fussy cut around this beautiful design.  The sentiment was stamped on a strip using one from the Simon Says, Handwritten Greetings set.

Next I made the yellow cardstock card base - 5" x 6" and covered the front with a magenta metallic paper.  I secured the stamped sentiment strip across the bottom  of the metallic paper and added the colored image at the top allowing the bird's tail to gracefully fall over the sentiment.
