He Will Cover You With His Feathers

I'm here this afternoon with the Classic Design Team, rolling out the October, Classic Design Challenge Blog. Our sponsor for the month is Fred She SaidI have selected their Nuthatch  bird for my project card.

I also used this card design recently at the crafting retreat that I hosted.  I gave them the feather frame and sentiment as a make 'n take for them to add a bird.

I sized the bird to about 3 1/2" square and printed the image on Neenah 110# card stock.  I've used Copic markers for my coloring and they are referenced below.

I had purchased this new die from one of the Facebook sellers and it was just perfect for the image with the circle of feathers around the outside edge. It's sold by Paper Boutique and called Angels Are Near.

I selected a solid gray cardstock for the feather die and then the burnt orange patterned paper for the card base mat. I received the scripture quote at a recent retreat.  I added it to the bottom corner and the card front was complete.

Having used a black card base, I did add a white journaling box inside to complete the total card design.

Plus Another One!

This morning I'm joining in with The Colour Crazy Challenge Design Team and sharing my card with you.  Our sponsor this week is Sweet November,  and I have used Thankful Cutie Girl.  Here's my completed card ~

After sizing the image for an A2 card front, I printed her on Neenah 110# card stock.  I hand stamped the sentiment from one of my personal sets and then used Copic markers for coloring.

I used Spellbinder, Polka Dot Frame for cutting the coordinating light green swiss dot paper.  After securing both layers to my top fold A2 card base, I added the red organza ribbon and heart charm at the fold.  I thinks she turned out really cute!

Simply Blessed

Today I'm posting an extra card for my Design Team with Jan's Digital Stamp shop.   I just love this image of 'Autumn Leaves' and couldn't let the month slip away without sharing it with you.

I sized this to be a 5" x 7" card and printed it on 110# Neenah cardstock.  I used my Copic markers for coloring and they are referenced below.  I also added clear Wink of Stella to the golden pods throughout the basket.

I made the card base to fit the larger image and added a light blue/gray liner mat before mounting.  Once secured to the card base I added the gold thread and cross charm to complete my card design.

Virgo Birthday Greetings

In my family, we always say you celebrate your birthday for a month.  Today I'm sharing the birthday card I made for my daughter Kimberly whose birthday was August 27th.  Her month is about up!

For her special card I selected Polkadoodles Virgo, and made a circle shaped card.

This digital package includes this circular design, as do all of the Zodiac Collection images.  After sizing and printing I used Copic markers for coloring.  I die cut a solid yellow liner mat and then the flowered paper layer.  This coordinating paper came from the Polkadoodles Toadally Cute Paper Pack.

Next I die cut the card base in green overlapping the die over the fold slightly to form the base.  Then I secured each layer and added the yellow organza bow at the fold.

I'd never done anything with her Zodiac sign, she was very proud of it on her special day. If you haven't seen the entire Zodiac collection on Polkadoodles, you really need to check it out.  There are some amazing images in that package.

Prescription for a Happy Birthday

Today I'm sharing a special order that I made for one of our pharmacist.  The request was from the others there in the drugstore, to surprise her and celebrate her birthday.

The request was for the standard Mortar and Pestle - but not in a standard way.  Her favorite color being shades of purple, they wanted the Mortar to be overflowing with lavender to purple flowers.

Sounds simple but not something that you have just laying around in your stamp collection.

After quite a bit of searching for two files I could merge, I got down to my digital files from Jan's Digi Stamps. There I came across her Wedding Magnolias, and I knew I'd found what I needed.

Here is the Mortar and Pestle with flowing flowers.

I was able to take the image and duplicate it with one swag of flowers across the bowl and one more vertical down the right side.  I also typed the Happy Birthday on the image design.

After printing I colored the image with my Copic markers and added tiny dots of gold Stickles inside the flowers.  Then used the lovely Tattered Lace Nested Beaded Chain Rectangle dies for the image and the floral matting.  Lastly I secured both layers to a white cardstock card base, cut to fit the larger mat.

When I saw the 'birthday girl' and she told me she loved the card. She teaches also and has the card there in her office.  That always makes you feel great when you know they enjoyed the card.

You're the Cutest Little Pumpkin

Today the Polkadoodles Design Team ladies are sharing a few more Halloween / Autumn cards for your inspiration.

I've selected Pumpkin Girl Boo Halloween and made a tri-fold card with the image overlapping the fold.

I made this by cutting the 8 1/2" x 11 cardstock in half lengthwise, then scoring at 4 1/4" and 8 1/2".  The right or bottom flap is covered with orange Boo Ghost digi paper and the left or top flap is covered with the tiny flowers. Both came from the Polkadoodles Halloween Trick or Treat Digital papers

I sized the Pumpkin Girl to about 3 1/2" tall, printed her and colored with my Copic markers. I used an x-stitched dome die to cut as close as I could to the outside of this image.  Since I wanted it flat on the bottom for my ground, I used the straight part of the die and cut part of the shape off to make this x-stitched line.

From the HalloweenSentiments package, I printed the sentiment 'You're the cutest little pumpkin on the patch'.  Then I carefully trimmed it close to the words and cut it into two pieces to go on the bottom as part of the bottom border.

I didn't want to add a belly band to keep the card closed so I added a Velcro mini dot to keep it closed for mailing and displaying.

Be sure to check out all the Design Team cards on the Polkadoodles Challenge Blog.  We'd love to see your cards there too.

Boo to You!

Today I'm posting with my fellow Design Team members for the Colour Crazy Challenge.  This week our sponsor is Oddball Stamps and I've used 'CCC-69-Hex-Creepy' and made a mug shaped card.

To do this I simply duplicated the image and flipped it horizontally in Photoshop, allowing the edge of the handle to overlap slightly.  Then I erased the image on the 'back side' and printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.

After coloring, then I carefully cut, leaving the heavy black line showing.    After I folded it on the center handle line, I carefully matched the front to the back and made any additional cuts to even things up.  I also took Copic marker N8 and went around the edge after cutting to get rid of the white center paper line that shows when cutting.

Since Copic markers bleed through, I cut a second design without the lines to use as a liner to cover the ink on the inside.

Hearts Unfold Like Flowers Before Thee

Today I'm sharing a card I made for one of my church lady friend's birthday.  She turned 85 yesterday and is one of the kindest ladies I know.

For her card, I selected Sweet 'N Sassy's Flowers in Bloom which has these lovely cone flowers.   The sentiment from the hymn, also from this set,  is just perfect with flowers.

I colored the image with my Copic markers and then used Gina Marie Designs Nesting Label Three for the decorative edge.  I normally would add my ribbon across the bottom where the flower stems end, but this time I used the negative side of the matting paper to make the strip across.

Hopefully it made it to her yesterday for her special day.

Sending You Bear Hugs

Good moring from Jan's Digital Stamps Design Team.

It's time for our mid-month inspirational posting and today I'm sharing Mrs. Teddy Bear.

I started by sizing this adorable bear to just under 4" tall and then printed her on Neenah 110# cardstock. I used my Copic markers for coloring.  It had been a while since I'd done  'dotted fur', which is a fun Copic technique.

For the decorative edge, I used Quickutz, Nesting Frame 7. I covered the front of the 5 1/2" square chocolate brown card base with the festive green and red polka-dotted paper.  After securing the colored image to the center I added the sentiment from the same package to complete my card.

With Love & Prayers

Today I'm sharing a bright little bird from Sweet Poppy.  This little Kingfisher isn't colored in their traditional colors but in bold yellow tones with a light blue underside.

After I colored the flower pink like cherry blossoms, I was really second guessing myself.  I don' t usually mix pink and orange together.  But by the time I found the patterned background paper and the orchid colored card base, I was completely satisfied with the way this card was turning out.

I used Gina Marie Designs Pierced Nested Label die cut for the image and matting.  I die cut the smallest die in this set and stamped the sentiment 'with love & prayers'.  This card could be used for many occasions.

Turning 15 Already?

As parents and grandparents we all are amazed at how fast our children and grands grow up.  In what seems like a blink of an eye, they go from the tiny baby to teenagers and then adults.

Those are my thoughts as I made this card for my grandson who just turned 15.  I watched him being born and that truly seems like just the other day!

I know a lot 15 year old kids are standing in line at the DMV the day after their birthday... ever so anxious to get their beginners permit.  Just as many parents are totally scared to death at the thought of their babies behind the wheel.

Here's the card I made for my grandson, filled with as many words of wisdom and caution as I could squeeze in!

For his card I used Rubbernecker Stamps 'Mustang Fastback'.  I stamped the car and then scanned it into Photoshop Elements which allowed me to size it to fit with the design.  I pulled the road signs from a Goggle search and randomly added them around the image.  I made sure I put the STOP sign by the text '15th Birthday'.

Once I had it laid out like I wanted, I printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock and then colored the car with Copic markers.

When completed, I die cut the image using Whimsy Stamps Notched Square Die.  I did trim off the bottom edge both to give a solid bottom and to remove the extra white space.

I used a light gray cardstock to make the custom size card base, as the finished card ended up being 5 1/2" x 6".  After securing the striped matting and the colored image, I added Glossy Accents to the windows, then left it overnight to dry.

I think it turned out pretty good and I hope my grandson will like it too.  It's definitely filled with love!
