It's been an honor and a joy to document each month with her Disney Princess costumes and photo shoots.  I'm going to miss being a part of her celebrations each month.  Thank you for joining me each month with your sweet comments on her photos and my cards.

Hello Lovely

Today I'm sharing a card I made using images from the Hello Lovely digital package from Beccy's Place

Her Lotus flower can be used in so many ways and colored in numerous shade combinations.  For this card I went with the salmon/pink shades and lighter almost lime greens.

The matting was done using Quickutz Nesting Frame 8. The green mat I cut in half vertically for a different textured design.  After securing to the 5-1/2" side fold card base, I added the variegated green twine, wrapped and tied with a loopy bow to complete my card.

When One Becomes Two

I've always loved big stamps and images, mostly because it allows plenty of room for Copic shading.  We won't go down that path of my older eyes can't see those smaller images very well any more.

The stamped image for today is from Simon Says Stamps and is called Beautiful Flowers.  This stamped image is just under 7 inches long and is very appropriately named.

After enjoying the best part - Copic coloring - I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with this massive piece.  Just last week my stamping friend Lynne displayed several of her cards where she had cut the completed images to make more than one card.  They were stunning and I wasn't sure I could cut mine after all the work of coloring it.

But I did - and it will be easier next time.  I love the results!

Here's the completed left side of the image, made for my special neighbor and shopping buddy, Ms June who turned 89 this month.

The completed right side of the image, finished slightly different and mailed to an online friend for her birthday on the 22nd of this month.

Kicking My Way

Today is the day the Design Team for All Dressed Up Digital Designs share the new images for the month.  For September my image is 'Back To School Boy'.  While I love all the ADU images, I seem to enjoy the boys the most.

I combined the school and soccer themes together and made an Easel card to share with you today.

Here's a little closer view of the front so you can see the Back to School Boy image.  I used Copic markers for coloring and fussy cut around him leaving a little white space since I mounted him on the darker background.  There is fun foam behind his head to add dimension as well as behind the top layer of the sentiment.

The inside bottom of the card base has the school print cardstock with a border print at the bottom.  You'll notice about 1/3 of the way down is a 'soccer ball patch' that is raised on one side to hold the card front in place for the easel position.

Under the top flap, I added two white boxes for journaling and a scrap piece of the border that just happen to fit perfectly.

Although this card took quite a while to figure out and assemble, it really turned out cute. The sentiment could easily be changed for other grades, but I was thrilled to happen upon this one today.

Like always, it's mainly important to remember these special events and send out the cards.  They will be treasured keepsakes to those that receive them.

Early Birthday Wishes

Today I'm sharing a half year birthday card for one of my special girlfriends.  She's one of 'those people' who has a birthday way to close to Christmas!  So around the end of July I decided to surprise her with this card and a few little birthday surprises in the mail.

The image is from Woodware Stamps and is named Midnight Owl.

I wanted not only to surprise her but to make it a bright and fun package so I decided to make the owl match his name - in shades of midnight blues.   I used Gina Marie Designs Label Six for the decorative edge after completing the coloring.

For the background, the blue speckled paper was a good choice for the sky but needed a bit of texture.  I used the Sizzix Arched 3D Embossing Folder and then trimmed to fit the A2 sized Kraft card base.

For the sentiment I used a wooden fishtail tag that was pre-stamped Happy Birthday.  As you can see I added a thin strip of the background paper as the tag 'string'.  Then I secured the owl near the top left of the card front and the sentiment near the bottom right to complete the card design.

Feeling a Little Green...

Today I'm sharing two cards I made recently with the My Favorite Things 'Something Fishy' stamp set.  This is a smaller stamp than I usually use but it was perfect for one of our church friends following surgery.

Here's the first one done in blues to aquas.

The background is embossed with the Altenew From Land to See Embossing folder and the images are die cut with Sizzix Stitched Framelit Square dies.

For the second image I used shades of yellow to orange and basically the same design.

The background is also embossed using Altenew From Land to Sea and the colored image is die cut using  Craft Essential Ornate Scallop Nesting Frames.  I added a ribbon at the top fold on this one and two scraps of the paper are tied in the knot.

Love is Sharing

Today I'm posting with the Design Team from All Dressed Up Digital Designs as we open the new September challenge. I hope you will join us with your card made with an All Dressed Up image for this challenge!

For my card today, I have selected Pitter Patter Rain Drops.

I used Copics for coloring the image. I used two different die sets for this card. The smaller heart frame is from Tessler Crafts and is called Heart Square Frame.  I used a coordinating brown kraft for that piece and saved the hearts that were cut out. After securing to the image, I trimmed close to the outer edge.

The second die set is from The Paper Boutique and I used the coordinating peach cardstock.  After assembling and securing the layers as shown, I added the tiny kraft hearts around the image.  You'll notice in the product list, the original image has rain drops where the hearts are placed.

Roy's Autumn Days

Another month flying by  ~ here it is mid September already!  Today we're opening the Classic Design Challenge for September and we're hoping you'll join us with your card creations. We had two wonderful sponsors this month  ~ Polkadoodles Crafting and Colours of Love.

Before I continue with my card, I would like to share our teams sad news.  On August 24th we received word that the founder of this blog, Michelle Windsor, had passed away.  Many in the crafting world worked with her throughout her crafting time both through this blog and through her online store Keen Crafters Designs.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this time.

I'm sharing my Design Team card today Colours of Love, Rory's Autumn Days.

I Copic colored the image and used the Stampin' Up Fabulous Frames die around the image.  I used a cream card base and added the orange patterned mat, then the image, and then the 'fall' stamped oval.  I also Copic colored the wooden leaf and secured near the top left corner.  I added the rust colored organza ribbon at the top to complete the card part of the design.

After learning of Michelle's passing, I used the background paper from her Autumn Themed Digital Pack and layered the photo of my card into the center of the layout.  I added the memory documentation near the bottom in honor of my friend.

Monster Truck Madness ~

Some of these birthdays just touch your heart - and today is one of them.  My grandson turns 17 today.  He was our first grandchild and I was allowed in the labor and delivery room with them. He's grown up so fast it seems and will be getting his Senior ring in just a few short weeks from now.

So what do I make for his card?  I decided on a Monster Truck and wanted something with layers and some 'pop'.  This is what I came up with.

I started by searching Google for Free Monster Truck images and ended up finding the art work of Matthew Matthysen to be most interesting and quite colorful.  I had so much fun coloring the monster truck with my Copics after viewing his designs.

For the assembly, I gathered a few pieces and began mixing and matching until I was happy with the results.  The corrugated paper was a strip about 2" and is torn to get the jagged edge and trimmed the length of the completed image.  I used a piece of black leather lacing to thread through the Happy Birthday bar then wrapped and taped it around the back side of the orange background paper.  The oval sentiment at the top is a Tim Holtz chipboard element and is mounted on foam. After all the front elements were secured to the background paper, then I was able to secure the grouping to the 6" square Kraft card base.

Happy Birthday Spencer!

I'm so proud of YOU!

The Good Life

If you follow my cards, you know that Copic markers are my first choice to color with for my cards.  I do try to branch out, probably not often enough, but a little.  Today's card is one I sent to my nephew's sweet wife for her birthday and I'd like to share it with you today.

I used the Penny Black Blushing image of the single rose on black watercolor paper with metallic water color paints for this dramatic effect.

I stamped the image using white ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.   The metallic paints were new to me, so this was quite the experiment figuring out the color combinations.

If this technique is new to you, the amazing thing is to complete the painting and tilt the image in the light.  The reflections of colors are amazing ~ even when they aren't perfect.

The card was sent with lots of love to Arizona as this young lady has certainly made life good for my #1 nephew.

Happy Birthday Kelani!
