I Just Wanta Be a Beach Babe!

Good afternoon from the Classic Design Challenge Design Team as we roll out May Challenge #5!

Our sponsor for this month is All Dressed Up and for my project card, I've selected 'Beach Time'.

After printing the image on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used my Copic markers for coloring.  For the decorative edge and the navy matting I selected the Gemini Scalloped Edge Square 2 Die Set.

The top fold 5 1/2" square card base is also navy with a distressed peach cardstock matting added, then the navy matting and colored image.   The stamped sentiment is from Unity Stamps.  Next I added a couple of coordinating darker peach vertical tags in the top right corner, then wrapped the blue twine around the top fold.  Lastly I added the white starfish at the top of the corner to tie everything together.

Hello Lovely

Several weeks ago I stumbled across a selling album on one of the Facebook craft sites with this stamp available for purchase.   With my addiction to hummers I of course wanted it and added a few more things.

In my usual style, I also began to chat with the seller and found out that she was selling her mother's crafting inventory.  It touched my heart so that this young lady had taken on this huge task of finding good 'homes' for her mom's beloved crafting items ~ refusing to trash them or dump them off at a donation site.

I know we all joke about what will happen to our things when those days come in our lives.  But it's sweet to know that there's one mom in heaven is smiling down at her daughter who cared enough to wade through hours and hours of supplies, carefully wrapping and shipping things to new locations so they could be used to create more lovely crafts.

Grand Swirl Birthday Wishes

Today I'd like to share with you a Birthday card made with the Gemini Grand Swirl background die.

For this project you will need two shades of aqua - a solid and a small pattern, a piece of tulle about 1" larger than the card base, about a teaspoon of a small confetti material and the sentiment that you'd like to use.

I cut the patterned paper 1/8" smaller than the card front and glued it to the card front.  Then I die cut the solid piece using the Gemini Grand Swirl A6 die.  It's best to trim the tulle using a good pair of hand scissors.  Trim it to fit just inside the grand swirls outside frame - then secure with glue to the back side of this frame.  Add about a teaspoon of your mini glitter item to the top of the card base.  Then apply a heavy glue line on the edge of the netting ( back of the swirled piece) and secure over the confetti.  Rub all the edges down firmly to ensure all the edges are closed.  Lastly add the hand stamped sentiment, to complete this design.

The Retreat at Silver Springs

For us crafting ladies - there is nothing better than a relaxing crafting workshop at a nice retreat facility.  I've had the pleasure of attending a new one in Silver Springs, FL for the last six days and thought today I'd share a few photos from the event with you.

27 Attendees & Buffy (Lori's Support Companion)

The event was held at The Retreat at Silver Springs, a Christian Church supported facility located on the edge of the National Forest and Ocala.

The building has two large open rooms on each end - one with the cafeteria and the other the auditorium where the group events are held.

Lots of room for our hostess Lori Shannanhouse's Creative Memories displays.

My nest. We were spoiled with nice 8' tables too!

And my table partners ~

Many of you know Debra from Scrapsalot, LLC ...

WOW! all the goodies!

We were served some great food, awesome prizes (thank you Lori), had several shopping adventures and still managed to get a lot accomplished.

Just one of Chari's projects completed.

I completed about 40 cards.

and the best part -  as we leave FL with the loaded car - the blessings of new friends, time spent with Debra and Tina...

and safely returning home to our family.

Until another adventure  ~
Pam

Wishing You A Sunshine Birthday

For our Polkadoodles Design Team Challenge this week we were to make a Birthday card with a fold. I've selected Winnie in the Sky's the Limit and made a slimline with a crazy T back fold.

I've Copic colored the image and raised her above the digi papers for the card front.

The inside slimline is made on the left side and is raised with foam tape.

I've scored the right side at 1 1/2" from the edge and attached the front panel to the 'outside' fold.  This allows the front to be folded inward and tucked under the left frame so that both panels are displayed.

What a fun fold to show off Winnie for this Birthday card.

Never Give Up

Today I'm joining Team D on the Colour Crazy Challenge blog to add my card creation in with theirs.

Lee Holland is one of my favorite artists from his Whimsy Stamp days and I just love this 'Panda on a Branch' image he provided our team.

I used my Copic markers for coloring and then die cut the edges with Carnations Crafts Pretty Shabby Square Labels die set. The sentiment is hand stamped and is from Creative Time, You Matter.

I made the overall card 4 1/2" square, covered the front with the brown swiss dotted paper and then secured the image to the card front.  Lastly I added the light green narrow organza ribbon and bow, that coordinates with the leaves, so that it crossed near the end of the limb.  He's all ready to be mailed and brighten someone's day!

Lilies from Kit & Clowder

Getting free digital files is one of the best parts about using them.  There are tons of options out there (once you get past the "I can't do it" stage), so what are you waiting for?

Kit & Clowder are one of the best sites for free digital giveaways. Today's lilies are from one of their weekend giveaways in March of this year.

I made this one up for a customer's order.

It's hard to believe I use to be afraid to color with the shades of Copic Reds isn't it.  These deep shades really gave  a beautiful depth to each flower.

For the flowers I used Copics ~ R89, R56, R39, RV55, RV29, the   Centers ~ YR27, YR23 ~ and the Greenery ~ YG63, YG61.

I've used the Penny Black Elegant Stitching die for the edge on the image and the salmon colored mat.  Next I secured both the front and mat to the A2 card base.  Lastly I added the three enamel dots to complete the project card.

Simply Spring

There's no doubt about it when you look at my stamp inventory - I do love a big image! Big flowers, birds, trucks & cars, up close faces...you get the idea.

So when Unity Stamp Company came out with their newest IRIS - Care & Hope by Sandhya Iyer, it was in my shopping cart and on the way to the lake in no time.

I believe this is a bearded Iris with it's lacey edges ~ another fond flower memory of the many plants in the yard and cut to bring in to enjoy at the kitchen counter, sink and to the supper table.  My Mom's flower beds were always full so bringing some inside wasn't a problem, you never missed the spot they were taken from.

And even if you did - a beauty like this Iris could stand alone anywhere and just be amazing and catch anyone's eye.

For today's card I stamped it on a 6 x 8 piece of Neenah cardstock and used my Copic markers for coloring.  The Memory Maker Matinee Rectangle Nesting dies worked perfectly to allow a nice matting and still have a solid matting around the card edges.

I elected not to put a sentiment on this card front.  The single flower speaks for itself.  Inside, on the left cover,  I have stamped 'Be Still and know that I am God' at the request of my customer.

Monochromatic Best Wishes

Why is April going by so fast?  Here it is the middle of the month and time for Jan's Digi Stamp Shop mid-month release.  We've got several really pretty cards to show you today over on Jan's Challenge Blog (click here).  Don't forget you can enter your cards there also for a chance to win her digital images!

For my mid-month project, I've selected one of her newer releases, Best Wishes.  This open overflowing envelope of flowers is perfect for a thank you, get well, thinking of you or other card of encouragement or special occasion.

I've made mine monochromatic using shades of purples.

For the flowers I blended different combinations of Copics B60, B63, B66, B69.  The leaves were done with YG63, YG67, and G85 and I used the Copic Olive Multi-liner for the narrow stems.

I used the Gina Marie Designs Stitched Scalloped Rectangle die for the edge and then mounted on the card base. I wanted to accent the flower centers to give a little more shimmer.  I added a nice sized drop of my book-binding glue over the 'yellow colored areas' in each flower, and then carefully placed three to four lavender multi shaded glass seed beads.   I left the card to dry for several hours before proceeding.

The pale lavender organza ribbon and bow at the top fold completed my card for this project.

Silly Rabbit!

With reverence and holiness

we are so grateful

 for this Easter Sunday, 2022,

as we again celebrate

Our Risen Savior.

The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.  In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:10-11

I am so grateful for my family and the many blessings we are given each day.  I hope you are able to spend time with your family today ~ treasure those moments.
