A Great Adventure

Today's blog card is both my submission for Unity's {Show & Tell} current challenge and a thank you for a special friend.

For the Unity challenge,
'Create a card with a kraft base and twine with a splash of color'
I selected Phyllis Harris' ....
life's an adventure,
which includes the quote by Helen Keller,
"Life is either a great adventure or nothing.

After stamping onto the standard card base, I colored her dress and the swing with Copic markers and used a pink metallic gel pen for the headband, bow and ruffle.  The decorative doily is a natural colored miniature by Stampin Up that I colored also with a three shades of Copic markers and added a orange gemstone in the center after mounting and trimming.  For the twine, I also tied several sailor's knots to give the rope effect rather than a bow.

I am grateful to my friend who has given me a wonderful opportunity to travel to parts of the US over the last 6 weeks, that I've never been to and to enjoy her hospitality.
How wonderfully blessed my life continues to be!

Friends Make the Good Times Better

With National Dog Day (August 26) almost here,
creating a special dog card was the Fun Challenge on
Addicted to Card Making for August.
For my selection I wanted to use Elizabeth Bell's design of
Little Jack Bobbin Fishing,

Can't you just feel the love with this sweet image?
And what a perfect sentiment for so many occasions...

It's A Boy ~ Blessings

This weekend's card challenge on
Addicted to Card Making, is a card with the moon and stars.
For my submission I selected one of my Whimsy Stamps,
Cradled by the Moon, designed by Crissy Armstrong.

I found myself really missing my Sizzix and Gina Marie dies today, since I'm still scrapping away from home, in the hotel room.
But adding the soft vellum 'blessings' strip across the Copic colored image added a soft, sweetness to the card.  The stars are also colored with a yellow gel pen to give a nice glittery addition.  I finished off the card with yellow crochet thread and a strip of
'It's a Boy' ribbon.

God's Timing is Perfect

I'd like to invite you to check out Unity's {Show & Tell} newest challenge ~
Use a Kraft colored base and twine and add one splash of color!
For my entry I selected the Angie Girl, Cierra,
along with my favorite Unity sentiment stamp,
God's Timing is Perfect

As Cierra image portrays a flash of the camera, our lives can change just as fast.  Some days it is wonderful and others we struggle to understand why.  How encouraging it is for us as believers in Jesus Christ as our Savior to know that each change is for our growth and preparation for the next step in our lives.
I hope that today you will be blessed with God's grace and the sweet comfort of knowing he is always with you.

You've Goat This!

I needed to make a funny card for a teenager going through
military school.  He's doing so good trying to turn his young life
around and sending notes of encouragement to him is very important so he knows how proud everyone is of his progress.

Not wanting anything too wordy, or too serious, I selected the Art Impression Old Goat birthday set and decided to washi tape over some of the words to make this card.

 and the inside
This is the AI Stamp set I used (AICS37)
I hope it will bring a little chuckle to his day. ... and yours too!

Follow Your Heart

Today card was done for a card swap on Addicted to Card Making which required four hearts.

This stamp is 'Fred and Ginger' by Whipper Snappers, stamped on Neenah Card Stock, then distressed with Stampin Up Marvelous Magenta ink.  The images were masked while I did the background then were Copic colored.  A simple banner tag 'Follow Your Heart' was added, then the yellow crochet thread with the additional heart key charm.  I used a white A2 card base, then added a coordinating green mat.  Afterwards, I then mounted the colored image piece, ensuring the strings were vertically straight before pressing down.
Anyone that loves frogs or collects frog stamps, is bound to love Fred & Ginger!  I hope they make you smile today.

Always Remember to Celebrate the Special Moments

Happy, Happy Birthday today to one of my long time
best girlfriends, TISH!

Tish collects elephants in her crafts and a few other odds and ends so when I came across these elephant buttons I knew they would be so cute for her birthday card.
I used a 12 x 12 page (cut to 6 x 12 and folded) as the base and glued on the multi colored polka dotted paper to the top. Then I laid out the ovals that would allow the opening to show the CELEBRATE and the two elephants.  I die cut through through the top of the card base to give me the windows. I used the next size up of the dies, along with the same die (inside) to make the coordinating orange frames for each opening.
The next step was to die cute the celebrate  and mount it inside the circle.  I used a small brown twine to tie through the elephant button holes then glued them to the card base and finished the card with a thin green loopy bow on the left.
Since it is an oversized card,  I made the envelope to match using my Stampin Up envelope maker.

Thank you for stopping by today ~ May your day be blessed !

Always Have Faith

Today's card reminds us to Always Have Faith
for His Word says,
Nothing Can Separate Us From His Love;
He Will Never Leave Us Nor Forsake Us.

How comforting those words are when things are swinging along smoothly in our lives and how easy to forget when our world gets turned upside down with an unexpected situation.

Today's card, another Whimsy Stamp, Emily, designed by Sylvia Zet, is a great image to bring comfort and peace to the receiver during a time of trouble or sorrow.

Stamped on Neenah card stock, copic colored and mounted on green glitter paper, then a rust color base, I added a few flat back pearls  to the edge to finish it up and sent this one to a member of my church family going through medical issues.

I encourage you as card makers, SEND YOUR CARDS OUT.  There are so many who need that little glimmer of hope, knowing someone cares, a re-assuring hug, a word of scripture.  Plus they love to see your artwork.

Thanks for ~ Believing in me!

For this card challenge of monochromatics,
I selected neutral shades with a hint of sepia.

I had purchased this neat Soda Cap embossing folder through one of the online sellers on Facebook and thought it matched up perfectly with the Unity stamp "You're Too Kind" image
by Angie Blom.
I selected for a  sentiment of encouragement, knowing the card receiver had been going through a rough time.  How perfect,
Thanks for believing in me!
Don't we all need to have that special friend that believes in us?
Today be reminded that even at your lowest low, God is there with you and he always loves you and wants the best for you. Be grateful to him always
and feel his presence as he believes in you!
After mounting onto a coordinating rust card base to make it pop, I added a few sequins as the final touch and off in the mail it went.

Happy Birthday Tagged Greetings

Today's card features Whimsy's stamp RUBY, by my favorite designer, Syliva Zet.

After stamping her on Neenah Card Stock, and Copic coloring, I used the new Gina Marie Arched Stitched Tag Die Set
The corner Happy Birthday die is an older die La- La Land crafts.  The double tag was added to a 5 x 7 Kraft base with a coordinating orange card stock mat.   And the small detailed finishing touch in adding the coordinating button, I used a very thin strip of the matting paper to thread through the button eyes!

When Life is Upside Down

Today's blog card of encouragement was done as part of
a sketch challenge on Christian Card Makers.

Using the Unity stamp image Hanging in There, illustrated by Phyllis Harris Designs, I colored with copic markers in bright colors.  I took a Kraft card stock and added a muted floral piece of vellum to give a background effect of a trees.  I added a card stock rust colored picket fence die and three home made (from pony beads) enamel dots. Then I used a Stampin Up sentiment 'Hang in there!' since the Unity package sentiment stamp wouldn't fit in the spot needed.
This card can be ordered through Not Just Scraps.

Thanks for stopping by today ~ hope you enjoyed this cute card of encouragement when your world is turned upside down...
just hang on!
