A Day Without A Friend

By now, we've all been self quarantined a couple of weeks with no real end in sight.  It's a troubled time for all of us, a time where we know we have to have Faith Over Fear.  If you're like me, I'm really starting to miss seeing my friends and family.   I think our card making and sending is more important now that ever before.   If one of my cards can bring a little smile or happiness to someone, I want to take advantage of that, especially now.

Today's card is a Stamping Bella image, Honeybear Stuffles.

A Day Without a Friend is Like a Pot Without a Single Drop of Honey Inside. .... perfect to bring joy to any friend you decide to send it too!

So I challenge you to devote one day a week to make a card to send to someone.   Mine is Thinking of You Thursday.  I think you will receive as much of a blessing for sending it, as they will when they receive it.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards and other crafting items.

A Basket of Kindness

Happy Monday!  I'm back today with another card using Polka Dot Orchard's Spring Blessing digital package.  This mega package with Eight images and Twelve sentiments really gives you so many choices to make tons of cards or use in your scrapbooking projects.

For this card I used the Basket, the Eggs, the thinner Bow that is tied in the center, and the Chick.  Here's my completed project card, then a little about making it.

I use Photoshop Elements to prepare my images, so I use layers for preparing an image like this using several things.  First I sized the basket to about 2" x 3 1/2", then added the eggs on the next layer, and the bow on the next.

I pulled the chick in and placed it beside the basket to get the right size, then moved it away from the image.  I duplicated the chick, then placed it in front of the original and sized it down about 1/3.

Next I printed these on Neenah 110# card stock and colored each one with Copic markers.  I used the Penny Black Elegant Stitching die for the image and also for the pink dotted matting piece.  I fussy cut out the chicks and also used a banner die for the sentiment.

I selected a 5 1/2" square deep pink card base and added the mat and the colored basket.  I adhered the chicks only at the bottom and added a small foam dot behind each of their heads for added dimension.  I added a small piece of brown twine to the sentiment tag, then added it to the card.  For the final touch, I added the three yellow enamel dots to the left of the basket.

I hope you'll check out all the new digital packages over on Polka Dot Orchard.   We'd love to have you join our Facebook group to  ~ Friends of Polka Dot Orchard

Have Your Cake

How about a little House Mouse Celebration card for today?
I have purchased several new House Mouse stamps recently that are all so cute!   So many choices too!

Today's card is made using Stampendous' Cupcake Coma House Mouse.

After stamping on Neenah 110# card stock, I colored this stuffed little fellow with my Copic markers.  I used Versafine ink for stamping the sentiment to get a good crisp image.

I used Gina Marie Designs' Petite Looped Lace Oval die on the image and mounted it on a blue dotted mat cut to fit just inside a standard A2 card base.

A Fluttering Hello

Today I want to share with you a card I just made using Penny Black's Potted Flowers image.  It's another BIG image ~ the BEST kind!

I stamped the image on a 5 1/2" square piece of Neenah cardstock. It truly is too big to fit on the standard A2 card size.    I used my Copic markers for coloring (about 30 of them!).  I trimmed the colored image down to 5" square and returned it to the Misti.  I stamped the sentiment 'Hello' from the Altenew, Floral Sprig package, using VersaFine ink.  I really like how that stamp fit perfectly on the pot.

Next I die cut the lattice work using a Tim Holtz Alternations Collection Multi-Media die and glued it to the top of the image.  I randomly added three enamel dots and then glued the colored image to the card base.  All ready to go!

Like Waves of the Ocean

My crafting buddy and I attend the Stamp, Scrap, Art Tour as it comes through Columbia SC each February for our birthday treat.  We both really look forward to that little outing even though it seems each year is eventful in some way.   Like my car breaks down one year... and the pre-purchased tickets she got this year... they remained on the kitchen frig the day of the show.  We're a pair for sure!

We have about four favorite vendors that we have to look at every stamp and gadget they bring.  One of our top favorites is Technique Junkies. They set up a huge display of stamps and the crowd of women pile in to read all their hilarious sentiments and admire all the beautiful images. I'm sure several 'husbands' or others that don't understand our addiction to these products, walk by and just shake their heads as we laugh and point to all these funny stamps.

My card today is my favorite stamp purchase from this year's birthday trip.  It's Technique Junkies, Octopus Face.

If you're reading the card and you don't think that is funny, then you have never had one or more True Friends!

Thank you Technique Junkies for a great line of products to make us smile every day!

I See You!

Last month I received an adorable stamp from Dreamerland Crafts called Photographer.  Well if you know me at all, other than by my cards, you will know my camera is never far from me AND the hummingbird is my favorite, in fact it's my logo on my photography work.  What better gift!

Today I'd like to share with you the first card I made using this sweet little Photographer.

I stamped her on Neenah 110# card stock and then stamped her again on the blue print paper of her dress.  Did you see that one coming?  Her dress is paper pieced.

I colored the rest of the image with my Copic markers and then used the Gina Marie Petite Looped Lace Oval die.  After die cutting, I returned the image to the Misti and stamped the sentiment from the Altenew set, Fancy Greetings.

I added a green spring floral mat to the 5 1/2" card base then added the colored image to complete the card.

Weekend Christmas Challenge

For one of the activities in my card swap group, we are taking one weekend a month to work on our Christmas card stash.   This is already a lot harder to do than I thought it would be.  I specifically have my Christmas stamps separated and easy to access however, getting your mind wrapped around that holiday for just a couple days a month is just tough for me to do.  I am determined to follow through with this commitment however because I know this November I will be doing a little happy dance!

Here's the two cards I accomplished this weekend for the challenge.

For both ornaments I stamped the images on Neenah 110# card stock and colored using my Copic markers (listed below for your reference).

On the Cardinal Ornament card I used my Tattered Lace Beaded Chain Square die, then double matted with burgundy and gold before adhering to a chocolate brown card base.

On the Baby Jesus, the sentiment is from Altenew and die cut using the Gina Marie Wonky Stitched die.  I matched the song music paper with this card and also used accents of blue for a couple of current Christmas card challenges.

I'll be entering these in the following challenges:

Don't You Gnome I Love You

I don't normally blog on Sunday's, but since I had so many project cards supporting the huge 75% off sale at Polka Dot Orchard, I saved this super cute Gnome 'Love' image for today!

For this card I used the digital package Gnome Matter What, which was drawn by artist Malaine Colver. It's another very large package that includes 1 background stamp, 7 images and 5 hand drawn sentiments. And at 75% off, what a deal!

As I was laying the Gnomes out for my card, I moved the male gnome so that his right arm was holding the female gnome.  I resized them, keeping the scaling accurate, to be close to the same size and then added the sentiment to the right of them, then printed.

I used Copic markers for coloring the images and a Spellbinder die to cut it afterwards.  I matched the Gnomes hat with a piece of 12 x 12 card stock and made my card base 5 1/4" square.  After adding the image to the base, then I added the 1" strip across the bottom to complete the card.

I hope you will head over to Polka Dot Orchard while you have time - see what's on sale!  You're going to love the new designs!

A Spring Hello!

Day TWO of the awesome 75% off sale  ~ it's still going on over at Polka Dot Orchard!

Have you had time to check it out?  If not you sure need to!  It's a fun place to shop and I really think you will find some great images!

For my second project card with some of these new digital stamps, I've selected the sweet little chick from the package, Spring Blessings.   This package was designed by Artist Jeanie Hayes and is a large set with eight images and 12 sentiments.

When I went to lay out the chick on my Neenah card stock, I decided to grab the mushrooms in the grass from the Gnome Matter What package and add to this card also.

I colored the images with my copic markers  then added the chipboard buttons.  I cut the red background paper with my Gina Marie Feathered Lace die and trimmed the colored image down to fit inside the framed area.  Then I was able to attach this part to a pail yellow A2 card base.

Head on over to Polka Dot Orchard while you have time - see what's on sale!  You're going to love the new designs!

Family Love

Today is the birthday of a very special friend of mine ~ Ms Arlene.  She has been one of the most positive influences in my adult life both through my crafting
and many other areas of daily living.

I selected Unity Stamps new release Family Love for her card because I know she would love the beautiful Iris's.  Yet I've smiled as I think of this title being so appropriate for the relationship I share with Arlene.  It truly feels like no matter what the circumstance would be, she is like my family, always around to be supportive.

Here's my completed card and a few details.

The red rubber stamp,  designed by Graciellie Designs, is very large and I had to be very careful in positioning it on the card blank.  I used my Copic makers for coloring and blending the flowers, then die cut using the Tattered Lace Beaded Chain rectangle die set.   I also cut an additional rectangular olive mat and used the Tattered Lace die on it also.  I added the double organza bow to complete the card.
