I Love an Excuse for a Celebration

It's the WEEKEND and Let's Go Shopping with Polkadoodles!  A new Challenge Blog (week 31) starts today and the design team have put together several super cute card ideas to share.  For mine, I selected Busy Day Shopping, from the Winnie Fruit Punch Collection

I've colored her with my Copic markers and used Polkadoodles Heavenly Circles Craft Stencil with Fuchsia chalking ink for my background.  The papers from Blushing Blooms  matched perfectly for the background pieces and the left flap as I put her together in a booklet style card.  I added the sentiment, which came from Winnie Celebration 3 digital Sentiments kit and then the white organza bow and card was ready to go!

This special card was made for one of my dear friends Cheryl's birthday!  Wishing you many more happy years!!!

You Make the World a Better Place

Today I'd like to share a quick sketch card I did over the weekend for a challenge on one of the card sites I am a member of.

Here's the completed card ~

And here's the sketch we were given to go by ~

This is where double sided paper comes in very handy and makes the card quick and easy.  I used papers from Echo Park Forward with Faith by Lori Witlock.

The two vertical 2" x 4" rectangles are cut from the same paper then flipped to the opposite sides.  The sentiment was stamped with Versafine ink on a scrap of white cardstock and die cut with a 2" circle die.

I used a standard A2 size card base for this card.  After securing each layer like the sketch, I added the green twine and copper open heart in the fold of the heart to complete my design.

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to “Follow” my blog and to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards.

A Woman of Strength

Today I'm sharing a card of encouragement I made using this group of tall red poppies from the August 2017 KOM, Never Be Afraid by Unity Stamp Company and the sentiment from Hope Pray, Strength.  (Updated as I had the wrong reference here earlier this morning.)

I made this card for a friend who's husband is having surgery with the potential of treatments to follow.  Unity Stamp Company sentiments seem to always find the right words to add to our cards.

He Calms the Restless Sea

Do you feel like sometimes when you're struggling to design a card, the harder you try the harder it gets?  I often find I'm in that boat when it comes to Masculine cards, especially Masculine Get Well Cards.  No matter how many cards I have pre-made, my get well cards have to be made to the specific person to address their needs, even if it's in general.

I've found great comfort and direction may times when I go to my tray of Our Daily Bread stamps.  I might find an image and a sentiment, or a scripture or just one of these to lead me in the path that I need to be focused on for the card.

Today's card was one of those, made for a friend at church who is going through cancer treatments.  The Our Daily Bread Anchor set spoke to my heart.  I knew this would lift his spirits.

I stamped the image and sentiment on Neenah 110# cardstock and then used Copic  markers for coloring. The delicate edging is done with the Penny Black Elegant Stitching.  I covered a standard A2 white card base with a navy nautical patterned paper, then added the completed colored image.  Then the important part - WRITE in it and Put it in the MAIL!

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to “Follow” my blog and to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards.

We're Still Hot

Today's card's was again made this weekend for a challenge, this time the challenge was 'use the colors of the rainbow'.  I selected Penny Black's Fab Friends  and pulled out the basic colors: Yellow, Orange Red, Blue, Green, and Purple in my Copic markers.

Here's my finished card:

This was a fun image to color with all the bright colors and adding a little shading in the skirt on the left and blouse on the right.  When completed, I die cut the edge with the Gina Marie Designs Pierced Nested Label Die.

The sentiment is from Cas-ual Friday, Frankly-ism stamps and is stamped using VersaFine ink. The card base is 4 x 6 and is covered with a embossed dotted patterned.   Then the girls and sentiment are added as layers on top to complete this card.

Lamb of God

Today I'm sharing one of Polka Dot Orchard's images, Lamb of God by designer Jeanie Hays.

This is such a sweet image and can be used for so many occasions.  I layered the image to the right of my card front and added the sentiment to the left then printed on 110# Neenah card stock.  I used Copic markers for coloring and then used the My Favorite Things Elegant Rectangular Stax dies for the edge and the burgundy matting also.  I covered the A2 card base with a patterned paper that coordinated with the burgundy and green in the image then added the matting and colored image to complete the card.

Cast Your Cares

Today I'm sharing a couple of the encouragement cards I made for teen girls with cancer.  The image is from Unity Stamps Phyllis Harris' Quiet Mind set and the sentiment is from Unity's Graciellie's Design, He Will Sustain You.

I stamped each piece on Neenah 110# card stock.  For the sentiment, I simply cut in a rectangle then used a corner rounder on two of the corners.  I used my Copic markers for coloring the image and then used Gina Marie Designs Labels 3 for the decorative edge.  The same die is also used for the floral background matting.  The three layers are secured on an A2 white card base to complete the card. For most of the images in the project I did two of each design.  Here's the second one, basically the same just colored differently.

Warm Beachy Hugs from Harley Claus!

One of this past weekend challenges was Christmas in July but with the twist of Beachy, Palm Trees or even Flip Flops!

So I pulled out a pretty palm tree from my Beach box of stamps and pulled up Dr. Digi's Harley Claus.

Here's my finished card and then how I came up with this one.

I did each of these images separately as far as stamping the palm tree, sizing and printing the Santa image but then I colored them both using my Copic markers.  I continued the sand from the palm tree over into the motorcycle image to bring them together.  Once I cut them to the same size then I added brown mats on each.  I also folded the same brown card stock to make the slimline card base, which measured 4" x 8 1/2".  I covered the base with the palm leaf paper then added the completed palm tree and Santa images and secured them to the base.  Lastly I added the Warm Hugs banner to complete the design.

Oh Come, Let us Adore Him

Today I'm sharing the card I made using July's FREE image from Imagine That Digital Stamps.  It's their 'We 3 Mice' Christmas image and it's super cute!

Here's my completed card as I continue to Build my Christmas Stash ~

With this package you get 4 B/W images, 1 Colored image and 5 sentiments!

For this card I selected the single mouse on the camel and layered in the sentiment just to the left of the animals.  I used Copic markers for coloring and used the Memory Box Matinee Rectangle Die for the fancy edges.  The star matting paper is mounted onto a craft A2 sized card base and then the colored image is added to the top of the star paper.  Once secured I then added the diamond stickles to the fur of the coat and to the jewels on the blanket to complete the design and add to my Christmas card stash.

You Are My Most Treasured Friend

It's FriYAY and the Polkadoodles Design Team is rolling out a new week with a Magical Fantasy theme on our blogs!  Be sure to check out all of my team mates postings by clicking HERE to go to the Polkadoodles Challenge Blog.

For my project card today I've selected Polkadoodles digital image Serenity Fairy Resting ~ which also comes in the clear polymer stamp Serenity Magical.   How wonderful is that! You have a choice of which medium you'd like to use.

Here's my completed card ~

I printed the fairy image about 4" tall and colored her using my Copic markers, then fussy cut around her. l used the papers from Polkadoodles The Colour of Spring for the blue card base cover and the pink background piece behind the mushroom and fairy.  The black mushrooms across the bottom border was done with the Polkadoodles Mushroom Border die.  I added the fabric flowers across the top for balance and the sentiment fishtail ('You Are My Most Treasured Friend ~ from the Honeypie Collection Just Lovely) on the right to complete the card design.

Pam here ~  bringing you my Magical Fantasy card with the other members of the Design Team.  I've selected the digital image Serenity Fairy Resting ~ which also comes in the clear polymer stamp Serenity Magical.   The image is printed ~4" tall and colored using my Copic markers, then fussy cut around. l used the papers from Polkadoodles, The Colour of Spring, for the two background pieces.  The bottom border is Polkadoodles Mushroom Border die.  I added the fabric flowers across the top for balance and the sentiment fishtail ('You Are My Most Treasured Friend ~ from the Honeypie Collection Just Lovey) on the right to complete the card design.

Fun in The Sun

Today I'm here with the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog as we start a new week (28) with our sponsor Hetty Clare.  I've selected 'To Us' from her Etsy store and I made this Fun in the Sun card for MY best friends birthday (which was the 15th).

To make this card I sized the image to just over 3" square and printed on Neenah 110# cardstock.  I used Copic markers for coloring and added the additional grass at the bottom to fill in to the bottom of the paper.  Then I stenciled in the fluffy pink clouds using Fuchsia Chalking Ink by Quick Quotes and a makeup brush. I used the Gina Marie Designs Labels 3 die for the image edge and the solid background matting.

The Friends strip at the bottom of the card was cut from a 12" piece of scrapbooking paper then matted with black cardstock.  I selected a 5 1/2" white card base and covered it with the light blue card stock, then began adding the layers. The Sun and 'Fun in the Sun' sentiment tag were embellishments from my bits and pieces stash.

Here's to you CINDY!
And to MANY MORE HAPPY BIRTHDAYS!
