Sending Sunny Wishes!

Welcome to the August Classic Design Challenge Blog and our sponsor for this month, Paper Nest Dolls.

I've selected Avery in Rain Poncho for my project card.

I've colored Avery with Copic markers, which I've listed below for your reference.  I used Gina Marie's Stitched Scalloped Rectangle die for the decorative edge then mounted the image on a yellow gingham 4 1/2 " x 5" card base.  I added a die cut sunshine and a couple of clouds in the top corner to complete the card design.

Be sure to check out all the Design Team cards on the Classic Challenge Blog and add yours too!

The Best Thing

Good morning from the Design Team at the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog as we roll out this week's challenge.  We don't have a sponsor this week, so each of the team members will be sharing a personal favorite on the challenge blog. Be sure to check that posting out and enter YOUR favorite image too!

I decided to share a card I made earlier this week for one of my customers.  He is the best about ordering cards for his wife and three children all year for every occasion.

This week was their anniversary and I asked for a list of her 'favorite things'.  I still wasn't sure where I was going after I got the list! lol

But from it I pulled these top things; her favorite animal is a wolf and her favorite color is blue.  I'm sure most would say that's just not a good combo, right?  Well I just saw that as a challenge!

I had several 'wolf' stamps but none of them seemed to fit the need so I goggled 'wolf coloring pages'.  Images will sometimes work, but coloring pages usually will get more of the single line drawings. That gave me plenty of choices of free images.

Here's what I came up with.

I sized the image to 4" tall and printed her on 110# Neenah cardstock.  I used my Copic markers for coloring and they are referenced below.

The matting paper really pulled this card together!  It's from a lovely Stampin Up paper pack called Beauty of the Earth

I used Carnation Crafts Pretty Shabby Square Labels die set for the edges of the image and mat.  The card base is 6" square with a embossed rose navy matting for the first layer,  Then I secured the blue patterned mat and the image in the center of the card.

I stamped the sentiment with Versa Fine Claire Blue Belle and used handwritten sentiments from Kelly Creates stamps.

It's different no doubt, but I love how it turned out! He seemed pleased when he picked it up, so hopefully his  beautiful wife was too!

Letter to Santa

Time for another Christmas in July card!

For this one I used  Rachelle Anne Miller's Letter to Santa image and colored it with Copic markers.  I had a package of Christmas tags by Pink Paislee handy and one had a 'Dear Santa' journaling box in the center.  My completed image fit perfectly after I added a red 1/4" liner mat.  I added the organza ribbon at the top and the little bird that I had fussy cut around to complete the tag!

Love it just like that ~ but....
I really need cards, not tags with this much detailed coloring.

So I flipped through the Christmas papers and found this black background Christmas paper with the gold and white snowflakes.  It was perfect with the stripes on the Kraft colored tag.  I cut it to size and added it to an A2 card base.  Then I removed the ribbon from the tag and added the gold organza bow, securing it at the top.  Lastly I added the tag to the center of the card to complete another card for my 2022 Christmas Card stash!

Go Hard or Go Home

Today I'm sharing a card I recently made with Stamping Bella's Football Squidgy.  If you are a football fan you are sure to love this cute little fellow.

I actually made this card after receiving a high school graduation invitation from a family member and instead of having the usual cap and gown photo, he proudly sent his photo decked out in his football uniform.  It was easy to see that this young man was extremely proud of his sports and wanted to pursue his talents further along those lines.

With that in mind, I decided this stamp would be the perfect image to use for the congratulations card we returned to him.

The image is stamped on Neenah 110# cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  I used the Memory Box Matinee Rectangle for the edge.

The sentiment is from the same package and I used the Sizzix Dotted Square die for it and the green matting.

The A2 Standard card base is ivory, covered with the football paper from my stash.  The layers were secured as shown in the photo.  Lastly I added the brown jute and a star charm to complete the card design.

Hooray ~ You Did It!

Happy Monday to you and I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

After spending several days with my best friend in the hospital in Charlotte, NC, it was good to be home yesterday.  Yet my thoughts continue to drift back to her knowing the long road to recovery she has in front of her.  I'm happy to say her back surgery was a huge success and she is getting stronger every day!

Today I'm sharing the card that I gave her before I left - celebrating her surgery and our sixty years of friendship!

Meet The Bird Ernest from Artisan Joggles.  Isn't he a hoot!

He is colored with Copic markers and fussy cut to go on the standard A2 sized card.  I used the Twisted Stitched Border by Simon Says on the edge of the solid peach flap over the coordinating vertical stripe.  I tied a simple knot of deep aqua organza ribbon and added the plastic HOORAY tag under the knot with a clear glue dot.

I've Been Framed!

If you follow my work on Facebook, you know I share an album of the cards that have won or placed in the top 3 in blog challenges.   I don't do this for gratification, but just for my personal documentation and growth.  Plus it allows me to tag the stamp manufacturer so they are aware their image has received another recognition.

Today, I'd like to share another type of recognition.

One of my cards was requested by a local friend as a gift to her bestie. They happen to enjoy drinking a nice glass of wine together on occasion.  I've made this card several times - I'm sure some of you may remember it....

So this time, the receiptant wanted to have the card framed.

I was thrilled to find out that my friend Phyllis who had purchased the card actually has a framing business and did an exceptional job with this card. What ya think?

Adding that cork at the bottom was perfect for her friend too!  So if you are anywhere near the CSRA area, check out

I've Been Framed

and be sure to tell Phyllis that I sent you over!

Falling Into Place

I've really enjoyed one of the Unity Stamp Company stamps I received several months ago. It's versatile enough to experiment coloring in many colors or just shades of one color. Today I'm sharing the second (of several) that I've done using   'Falling Into Place' by designer Sandhya Iyer.

With purple being my favorite color (most days anyway), doing this in Copic shades of purple was fun.  I wonder if I'm the only Copic Colourist that wishes there were more shades of purple?

The font of the sentiment in this package is a perfect addition to the lacey design of the butterfly.  I used Tattered Lace Beaded Chain Rectangle die for the decorative edges and then added a marbleized purple mat to the 5" x 7" card base.  To complete the design, I added just a little Wink of Stella clear on the edges of the wing tips.

Micey Christmas!

I thought I'd continue today with another Christmas in July card.  This digi is one I received free last year from 'Imagine That Digi's' called We Three Mice and it was one of my Christmas favorites!

For today's card I pulled out just one of the cute little creatures sitting on the camel and made my card in non-traditional colors.

After sizing the image to about 3 1/2" tall, I pulled in the sentiment in the center above the image.  I printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock and used my Copic markers for coloring.  I  used Whimsy Stamps Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle die for the edging as well as on the coordinating purple matting.

I secured both pieces to a standard A2 sized white card base and added a big fat magenta organza ribbon at the card fold to complete this card for my 2022 Christmas Stash!

Believe in the Magic!

Happy Monday from Jan's Digital Stamp Design Team as we bring you our mid month inspirational cards today.

I've selected part of the images from the 'Believe' package as we continue to have Christmas in July...even though our temperatures are near 100 here in SC!

Isn't there something about Buffalo check that just makes you think of Christmas? It certainly does for me.

So as you can see I pulled the Santa boots from the package and then layered the 'Believe' close to the top cuff.

I used my Copic markers for coloring and believe me, black boots are not an easy image to color in my opinion.

Next I selected the Gina Marie Designs Drop Pendant die to get the stitched design.  I made the card base using black cardstock and cut it 4 1/4" x 6".  Then I added the Buffalo check mat which is cut 1/4" smaller than the card base.

I secured the colored image slightly lower than the center of the card, both to match the pattern better and also the image is weighted, so they just appear better to the eye located a little lower. To add a little more pop to the image, I used a clear glaze pen and covered the 'gold' buckles and bells on the boots. Lastly I adhered the three tiny black enamel dots in the top left corner.

I hope you will visit Jan's Digi Stamp Challenge Blog and see all the Design Team cards. We'd love for you to enter your cards there too.

Friendship!

This week the Polkadoodles Design Team are gathering up images for Friendship cards to inspire you!

I've selected Polkadoodles Sheepy Sheepy Sheep Sheep Spring Easter Printable (say that 5 times fast).   This one  reminded me of my girlfriends as we would pile in a car for a shopping trip or crafting day trip.

A Perfect Day for Friends!

Let me say that I use Photoshop Elements for my photo editing and layering.  It's especially helpful for this card as I am using several digital packages.  Other programs can be used, I'm not that familiar with them however.  My instructions are specific for PSE.

I started by sizing this image to just under 4" tall.  Next I opened the Magic Garden Soup digital package and selected the whimsical flowers and butterflies and randomly placed them throughout the background of my card front.  I also opened the Rose Budd Craft Digital package and pulled in the tree border background layer. Once I had everything laid out like I wanted it, I printed the card front on Neenah 110# cardstock, then used my Copic markers for coloring.

Separately on another page I used Honeypie Greetings, Just Lovely package and opened the card sentiment, "Your Friendship is Just the Best".  I sized this to small ~ to about 1/2" tall and just under 4" long.

After coloring the image, I used the Gina Marie Designs Nesting Label Three for the decorative edge.  The card base is 5" x 6" and has a side fold.  After covering the front with the small patterned green paper, I added the tall center image and then mounted the sentiment at the bottom with a rectangle matting under it.  After adding tiny black brads at the center of each end, I added a metallic strip to anchor it to the ends of the card.

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog. I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to 'Follow' my blog and to visit my site - "Not Just Scraps' on Facebook - where you can purchase my cards.
