Cradled By The Moon

There is nothing sweeter than the arrival of a newborn baby, a heaven sent gift from God.

Our family was blessed with that special gift today, July 13, 2022  when Wren Rosa'lynn arrived weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces.

Her parents, Destiny and Jacob were beaming at their first child as the tears flowed from the family members as we got our first peek through the nursery window.

This little bundle is my first great grandchild ~ how can that be!  It's a great joy for sure.

For my card celebrating her birth, I selected Whimsy Stamps, Cradled by the Moon by designer Crissy Armstrong.

I used Copic markers for the coloring and Penny Black Elegant Stitching for the decorative edges.

Past Your Usual Bedtime?

For today's card, I wanted to share another in the My Favorite Things series from Festive Old Friends.  I think this one is probably my favorite of all of the male images.

Look like anyone you know?

I believe the artist/designers nailed this one for sure!

After stamping the image I used Copic markers for coloring and the coordinating die for this set.  The sentiment tags were stamped with Versa Fine Clare ink and I used Gina Marie Designs Drop Pendant die set for those.

The card base is a mini slimline, measuring 3 1/2" x 6", matted with the coordinated green plaid paper.  Then I simply secured the items onto the card base and added a white card stock rectangle inside for writing.

With Sprinkles On Top

I don't know about you, but Ice Cream is one of my biggest weaknesses!  So when I read the weekend challenge for one of my card groups 'Beat The Heat' ~ Make an Ice Cream/Popsicle/Milkshake card ~ I had no trouble finding a stamp in my stash!

I selected Stamping Bella's Chicks With Sprinkles on Top (EB348) and used the sentiment in the package also for this card of encouragement.

After stamping the image on the right of the card front, I used Versa Fine Clair Cool Breeze for the sentiment.

I colored the image using Copic markers which are listed below.  Then I used Gina Marie Designs Label Three for the decorative edge.

I selected the coordinating purple card base and the aqua scalloped pre-cut mat.  After securing all the layers, I added the yellow organza ribbon and tied the tiny ice cream cone charm at the knot for the final touch.

You're Not a Year Older

Today I'm sharing another stamp in the series from My Favorite Things, Festive Old Friends.  It's a wonderful set of several 'Elderly' Folks designed to mix and match for humorous birthdays.    This one is a hit on the year of Quarantine ~ 2020!

Even though that's been 18 months ago now, we all remember it well and sure hope we don't have to do that again!  I love this sentiment and think it's a perfect birthday card design for about any adult.

I've selected one of the gentlemen from the set and used Copic markers for coloring.  The die set from My Favorite Things is excellent as you can see.

After stamping the sentiment, I trimmed close to it and then ran the coordinating red Copic along the edges to make it appear to have a red liner.

I made the red 6" x 3 1/2" mini slimline card base and covered the front with a corner of scrapbooking paper with this vintage clock face.   After adding the sentiment and the colored image I added the twine and the tiny clock at the knot.   Inside I added a 2 1/2" x 5" white box for writing to complete the card.

Dogwood Sprig

Today I'm sharing a beautiful and quite large card using Colorado Craft Company's Big & Bold Collection, Thank you Dogwood.

The pink dogwood is such a 'spring' card but I personally just love it's delicate petals and lightly colored leaves.  Using Copic markers to color this image allows the smooth coloring on the leaves and just a hint of coloring on the flowers.  Adding the green patterned background under the pink die cut heart frame gives this 6" square card lots of dimension.

Listen to the Sound of Silence

Today I'm sharing with you a card I made using one of Northwoods Stamps image.

I selected this card for today's posting because of the time I have been spending on my porch the last few weeks.  It's been a Godsend to have the morning temperatures in the 70's with a gentle breeze.  I've gone out early each day to enjoy this time, to listen to the sound of silence, and watch the cove wake up for the day.

My hope for you today is that you can find a spot to stop your busy schedules for a few moments to Listen to Sound of Silence.  It's a God Given Gift for sure!

Christmas In July

I promised myself in January I would work on my Christmas cards all year long.  Like most New Years Resolutions, I failed miserably.  But today - as the heat waves of July roll through, I'm here with Jan's Digital Shop's Design Team as we introduce you to new Christmas images this month.

Today I'm sharing TWO new images.  The first is from Jan's BELIEVE package ~ I've pulled out the sled and boots; and then farther down you will find the 2022 FREE Ornament image!  Once again Jan is graciously giving away a new design during the month of July.

Here's my first completed card and a few details about it.

After sizing the image for a 5" card, I used my Copic markers for coloring.

Then I used a Glaze pen to go over the word Believe and the gold bells.  It's a bit hard to see in the larger photo, but like most cards - it looks a lot better in person.

I added a black liner mat for contrast and used a rectangle corner notched die.  After securing all the pieces to the 5" x 6" card base I added the gold organza bow at the top and three dark green glittery dots at the bottom right.

Next I'd like to introduce Jan's 2022 Free Ornament image, which I've made in a 6" square card.

I sized this image to just under 4" and also used Copic markers for the coloring.   I used the Tattered Lace Lacy Days Square Die for the decorative edge.

After die cutting, I also used the Glaze pen on the berries throughout this card.  It's amazing how that little touch gives such an extra glow to the card.

For this layout I took the burgundy and the blue patterned cardstock and cut the squares diagonally, then spaced them at each corner on the card base.  Once secured, then I added the image in the center.  I added several multi shades of blue crystal diamond dots around the image to complete the card.

Be sure to check out all the Design Team cards on Jan's Challenge Blog where you can enter your cards also for a chance to Win!

Hot Summer Days!

Last month I was very pleased to see that one of my cards was a winner in one of the challenges that I had entered!  As a result of that win, I was asked to be the Guest Designer for their site, We Love Stamping (UK) in July.

The theme for this month is Anything stamped with the option of Hot Sunny Colours. For this I have selected Unity Stamp Company's Sunset Promise by Artist Angie Blom.  I've paired this with a scripture from Psalm 90:12.

To make this card, I stamped the image and then scanned it to make a digital image.  This allowed me to add the digital scripture and size both of them to fit together properly.  Once I was satisfied with the placement, then I printed the image on 110# Neenah cardstock.  I used Copic alcohol markers for my coloring.

I selected a lavender cardstock and made the 6" square card base. Then, I die cut the image and multi-colored matting using Quickutz Nesting Frames 7.  Ensuring the card base was turned with the fold at the top, I then added the mat and the image to the base.  To complete the card, I added the purple twine triple wrapped and tied a sunshine charm at the bow.

Thank you members of 'We Love Stamping' for inviting me to join you this month with this card.  This site is such a fun one to play along in the challenges!

Hello Beautiful Friend!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend on this Saturday morning. Maybe I'm catching you at the BEACH!?

That's what the Design Team for Polkadoodles are bringing to you today - Ocean, Beach and Mermaids!  Time to enjoy some 'cooling' cards!

For my project, I selected Meribelle Mermaid Seahorse.  I've always been intrigued with the Seahorse and this image is no exception.  What fun it was to color!

After sizing the image to about 4" tall, I printed it on 110# Neenah cardstock and then colored with Copic Markers.

Adding the background water to appear as if water was coming in was a challenge, but was fun!  I'd learned this technique several years ago, so it could use some improvements, but I loved doing the tiny bubbles! Each bubble has eight Copic colors in it!

Once I had completed the coloring I added the 'Hello Beautiful' stamped part of the sentiment close to the Seahorse. Next I die cut the 'friend' eight time with white cardstock and once with the blue metallic paper.  Carefully I glued each layer together ending with the blue metallic on top, making the stacked word 'friend' then adding it to the card base.

The card base is 6" square and I covered it with a coordinating blue cardstock.  Then I secured the completed image to the top to complete my card.

Sparkly Butterflies

I'm back this afternoon with Morgan's Artworld as we release the July addition of the challenge blog.

You can view the entire challenge blog HERE and also enter your cards in the challenge.

But first, allow me to show you my card for this month using Morgan's Butterflies 2 image.

After sizing the image to about 3" tall, I used Copic markers for coloring.  I loved the details in this image - such fun to color!

I die cut the edges using the Gina Marie Designs Frilly Lace Nesting Rectangle die.  I stamped the Hello Lovely from the Altenew Stamp set Fancy Greetings.  The purple circle doily was from my stash.

Next I covered the 5 x 6 grey card base with the mosaic leaf patterned paper.  I secured the colored image to the top left and allowed the circled sentiment to slightly overlap as I was adding it to the bottom right to complete the card design.

Be sure to check out all the Design Team cards on Morgan's Challenge blog and submit your cards also.
