I Love You To The Moon and Back

Doing Black and White card can be quite a challenge, 

especially if you love all the colors of the rainbow

and enjoy bright and cheerful papers, photos, and scenery. 

After doing my first black and white card yesterday, 

I had several scraps left over on the desk and a couple of 

additional images that I 'd stamped ~ 
so I decided to put together one more card while I was on a roll. 

This is what I came up with for my entry with a few directions following:

I selected Phyllis Harris', You Are My Main Squeeze image. 

and colored it using only the Copic gray shades of 'C' markers. 

Then I Fussy Cut around the image, omitting the hearts.

I used an unbranded fancy heart die, and cut out the front panel of the white card base and also cut one out of black card stock.

Inside the card, I mounted the black heart and put the little girl hugging her bear image in the center.

Knowing I wanted to use the sentiment 'I love you to the moon and back', I wanted a black background for the card front with either small white dots or stars. Anyone that knows me, knows there is enough paper here to supply a small country... but evidently the supply of black paper with small dots or stars was not on the sale rows!  I finally found one 8 x 8 sheet of alphabet paper with clear dots...perfect!. ... EXCEPT... Letters! Big and small white letters are randomly printed on the paper ~ great!

Plan B - That moon needs clouds and stars!  Ta-Da!  Gina Marie Designs dies again to the rescue! I used the  Stitched Sky Set  randomly spaced perfectly over all the letters and the sentiment on a separate cloud... another cute Valentine or anytime sweet card for someone you love.

Smooches and Hugs

Whiles some may say Smooches and Hugs  ~ oh that's for Valentines Day ~ I think most of us we agree

any day is good for smooches and hugs!

Especially cute images like the one featured in my blog today.

This card was made specifically for the current Unity challenge of a black and white Valentine card.  I used the Phyllis Harris Smooches and Stuff image and the Pleated Lace Circle die by Gina Marie Designs.  The image is pop-dotted up and the hearts are only glued to the circle.  The Abstract Hearts and the small hearts are unbranded dies.  The black Doily is by Creative Time. The entire image is Copic colored with the 'N' series of Copic markers.  I used Diamond Stickles on the bottom of her dress, on the three small hearts and on the white heart on the bottom right corner.

I Am Praying For You

It's now been 16 years since my Mom went home to heaven.  That seems like a long time ago, and yet it was just the other day.  I'm sure many of you know this feeling. 

During the 10 short months that she fought her cancer, I could not tell you how many friends and people we didn't even know would say "I am praying for you and your Mom".

Yet somehow, those five words took on a new meaning ~

a meaning of hope, a meaning of promise, and a commitment.

Today's featured card is using Unity's Cecelia Girl, by designer Angie Blom and the sentiment is part of the kit.

What a beautiful image full of hope and promise to give to someone in need.  I pray that you will always include your commitment when you promise to pray for someone.

Say Cheese for the Camera Please!

Give a photographer a stamp with a camera to color

AND then let her make a card for her favorite nephew too...

an awesome combination for sure!

Today's card is using Stampendous House Mouse Say Cheese in shades of blacks, grays and yellows. Here's the finished product, followed by a bit about how it was made.

You just can't help but SMILE can you?

I colored this image right after learning about taking your copic coloring to the next level by designer Crissy Armstrong.  I had never used more that 2-3 of one shade of color on anything.  This camera was the first time I'd used 6 shades of gray to color ~ it was amazing!  I wanted the first layer to look like bokah lights, so I started playing around with different shades of gray and yellow.

Isn't it always the case that the ONE piece of yellow that matches is the ONLY piece of yellow you have?  Had to do a little innovative placement of the dies to get everything cut out of this one scrap.

It was a lot of playing around with the mats and borders to get them in just the right place.  The Gina Marie banner set allows lot of choices and the vertical Happy Birthday is a die that I seem to use quite a bit on my cards.  Adding the X-Stitched edge (also a Gina Marie Design) finishes off the edges of the mats.  Then a few enamel dots sprinkled around and a SMILE die cut at the bottom and one extra large (6 x 8) card is ready to be mailed.  Although over-sized, with all the embellishments it would have had to be in a padded envelope anyway.  Once you have created a special card you sure want it to get to the receiver in great condition too!

Be My Love Bug!

Oh what wonderful memories we have of the old Volkswagen bugs!  Mine was Pumpkin ORANGE with a white convertible top.

When I spied the Heartfelt Creations, Simply Classic {HCPC-3801} with not only a vintage truck but a Volkswagen too, I was really excited.  

For today's card I used the Volkswagen as a Valentine's Card with a sentiment from another stamp set.  

The image is Copic colored then die cut using the Gina Marie X-Stitched Rectangle die.  The sentiment and the black die are also by Gina Marie - the Fish Tail Banner die set.   I then matted on a purple and blue striped paper and a black card base.  For the final touch I added three flat back purple pearls and a black bow.

I hope you enjoyed this cute little love bug and that it brings back a few old memories for you today!

Your Favorite Things Birthday Wishes

On one of the current challenges that I am participating in,

you have to make a birthday card using a Kraft base.

Using Copics to color on Kraft paper is a totally different ballgame,

so for this card, I elected to use colored pencils.

~ Instructions ~

I started with an A2 Kraft card base and masked the center area where the Unity Stamp, (Start Each Day) was going to go. I then took 3 Distress Oxide Inks, (Picked Raspberry, Cracked Pistachio, and Peacock Feathers) and mixed them around the rest of the card, allowing a little drying time between each color and a few minutes afterwards.  Then using my stamping platform, I stamped the image where the mask had been and colored it using colored pencils.  I find it hard to color with pencils and get a bright image, so afterwards I went back over a good bit of the image with a yellow metallic pen.  I used a wide fishtail die to cute the stitched border and the scrap to stamp the sentiment,

"May Your Birthday be full of your favorite things".

The edge of the sentiment has a coordinating strip of washi tape and then is popped up using foam dots.  After gluing the frame and the sentiment down, I added two additional strips of washi tape and three coordinating buttons  to complete the card.

You've Captured My Heart

Another perfect title....
for this Sweet Little Fellow!

For today's featured card I used Whimsy's stamp
You've Captured My Heart, by designer Crissy Armstrong.

~ Instructions ~
The imaged is stamped on 110# card stock and Copic colored.  I added additional shades of green 'flicks' of grass and small heart shaped flowers at the bottom.  The title describes the stamps so well, I decided to make a small tag using the same words.  I used the Spellbinder Curved Rectangle Die S5-006 to cut the tag, the image and the two additional matting pieces.  I used a mixed media die to randomly cut a 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of gray card stock  making it look like netting and then mounted it on the white card base.  
The sentiment tag is tucked behind the image and glued, then wrapped with red thread and knotted with a 'locked heart' charm. 
 The blue and red mats are glued down to the netting & card base, however the colored image is popped up.  The final touch was adding a dark blue loopy bow.

Nancy Girl ~ I Love You

Today I am again bringing you two cards using the same stamp, 

just different papers.

Some days I can color two images at the same time - 

other days I soon realize I'm half way finished with the first 

one and the second on only has the skin tones done.  

And I wonder why my kids are easily distracted?

For the cards today, I'm using one of Unity's Angie Girls ~ 

Nancy Girl.

Nancy Girl's package comes with a cat-lover's sentiment,

"You're Purr-fect"

and two little kitties all snuggled together at her feet.

However, it's too close to Valentine's day...

so I added another Unity stamp from the KOM 08/08,

and drew in a few extra flowers,

making it a lovely Valentine card or just a romantic 

occasion card.

Both cards are stamped on 110# card stock and Copic colored, then triple matted and added to a coordinating card base, with threaded bows added.  The {I "Heart" U} sentiment is added last slightly covering the string.

I Love Chocolate!

Well anyone who knows me knows 

THAT is a Very True Statement!

And don't mess it up with fruit or some wild flavored cream, LOL!

Then Whimsy released the new stamp set Crazy for Chocolate {CWSD254} by designer Deb Davis, and several other great Valentine themed sets...and soon 

my online cart was hopelessly full again.

Deb also posted an adorable shaker card using stamps from this set (linked here) which I used as my inspiration for the two similar cards I'm showing today.

Although I normally use the Tulle for my shaker cards, I did use acetate for these and foam tape.  I used Diamond Stickles for 'icing' on the chocolates and also used Whimsy Valentine Sequins.  The banner die is by Hero Arts and the wide Picture Frame die is unbranded.
