This Is the Day the Lord has Made

Like all the months this year it seems September is flying by too!  Here it is already the middle of the month and time for Jan's Digital Stamp Shop's mid-month inspirational posting.

For today, I've selected her new Pumpkin Pie package, and I'm using the image with the grouping of pumpkins and fall leaves.  This one could use just about any fall sentiment you'd like or even a Happy Birthday or Get Well greeting.

I sized the image to about 4" square and printed it on 110# Neenah cardstock.  All the coloring was done with Copic markers.

After selecting the orange and black plaid background cardstock, I used the Tattered Lace Nested Beaded Chain Square dies for both the image and the plaid background.  I cut the card base from brown cardstock making it 6" square.

Although Jan has many sentiments that would have been perfect for this one, I have added the scripture from Psalm 118:24 and also cut the plaid matting to go behind this piece.  Each layer was then secured to the card base starting at the bottom with the large plaid matting. Before adding the sentiment, I added a layer of foam to raise it slightly.  Lastly I added the three enamel dots randomly around the image to complete the design.

Double the Trouble!

Today I'm posting with the  All Dressed Up Design Team and I'm sharing this adorable pair of trick or treaters "Double the Trouble" from their Halloween images!

I'm sure if these two came to your door you'd be smiling and handing out lots of sweet treats!

I sized the image to about 3 1/2" tall. (Note: The sentiment is already in the center of this image.)  After printing on 110# Neenah cardstock, I used my Copic markers for coloring.

For the decorative edge, I used the Tattered Lace, Lacy Days Square Dies.

The Kraft card base is a 5" square with a black stripe matting added.  Then I secured the completed image in the center and added two diagonal strips of spider paper across the corners as shown.  Lastly, I added Diamond Stickles to the pumpkin face and the skeleton bones.

Friends Uplift The Soul

Today I'm sharing an image from the new release from Polkadoodles 'Autumn Fall Halloween Treats' package.

For this Hot Air Balloon Pumpkin image I decided to make a birthday card.

I sized the balloon to about 4" tall and used Copic markers for coloring,  After cutting it out, I carefully colored the white edges with the lightest shade of green so it would blend better when mounted.

I cut the card base out of coordinating dark green card stock and used an Anna Griffin embossing folder to get the textured background paper.  I also added a layer of foam behind the balloon before securing it in the center of the card base.  The sentiment was taken from Polkadoodles Honeypie Greetings and then mounted on a lighter shade of green strip across the bottom of the card front.  Lastly I added the mint green organza ribbon and bow at the fold to complete the card design.

Happy Birthday Jackie B!

We May Not Be Spring Chickens

Yesterday was one of my friends birthday who's about the same age as I am.  She and her husband love to hike in the mountains of North Carolina and travel a good bit on all kinds of adventures in their retirement life.  I love traveling through their photos to all the wonderful places they go!

Today I'm sharing the card I sent to her for her special day!

This little clucker is from Beccy's Place, Spring Chickens digital set.  This is one of my favorite sets as all three of the images and six sentiments are just funny and perfect to mix and match.

After sizing the image I layered the sentiment of choice to the left of the image and printed.  I used Copic markers for coloring and the Gina Marie Designs Label Six for the decorative edge on the image and the coordinating smoky blue mat.  Then I secured both layers to an A2 sized Kraft card base.  Lastly I added a red organza ribbon at the fold with a heart charm that says 'Live Laugh Love' what she does best every day!

Happy Birthday Brenda!

You Drive Me Batty

Polkadoodles has just released the Hocus Pocus Collection for Halloween.  There are three sets that are great for mixing and matching to make easy and cute Halloween cards.  You'll find Witches & Halloween, Ghastly Ghosts, and Autumn Fall.

Today I'm sharing four of the bats from the Autumn Fall release.

For each of these I've sized the bats for the manilla card, Copic colored and fussy cut out.  I used the Boneshakin' Halloween Craft paper pack to cover the tags and add the borders.  Next I secured each bat to the card using foam to raise them up for a little depth.  I used a paper ribbon for the top of the tag and added the black decorative button as the finishing accent.

I hope you'll follow to see all of the Halloween cards I've made for this season!

YOU are WHEELIE Amazing!

We'd all agree as Grandparents - our kids grow up fast and our grandkids seem to grow up even faster!  Especially when we don't see them every day, it seems they grow a foot in height just over night.

Today my grandson Spencer turns 16, which is terribly hard for me to believe! It was just the other day that I was in the delivery room watching him being born! However, I am extremely proud of him and the young man he has become.

He recently got his first truck, a Ford F150 and now drives to school. I'm sure this isn't exactly what his vehicle looks like as I only got a partial photo of it, but I know he will get the idea.

I used Copic markers for the coloring and the Gina Marie Designs Drop Pendant die for the stitched edge on the image and a stitched fishtail die for the computer generated sentiment.  I really like the two toned metal patterned paper for the masculine matting along with the brown Kraft card base.

After securing all the pieces, I finished the card with the black twine wrapped at the top fold and tied the flag charm at the bow.

Happy 16th Birthday Spencer!

I hope your day is as special as you are!

Happy Birthday My Sweet Friend!

Today is a special day as we are celebrating my friend June's 88th birthday!  She loves flowers and they love her!  There are always hummingbirds buzzing around her porch at the feeders and in her beautiful flower gardens, this just seemed like the perfect image for her birthday card.

It's by Inkadinkado and is called Hummingbird Morning Glory.

If you follow my blog you may recall seeing this image several weeks ago as I did a Thinking of You card and colored it using Prismacolor pencils.  For today's card I've used my Copic markers and have referenced the colors below.

Once completed I used Cheery Lynn's French Flair Scalloped Square dies for the decorative edge on both the colored image and the coordinating blue stripped mat.

The card base is 5 3/4" square with the fold at the top.  I secured the matting with the vertical strips, then turned the colored image to form a 'diamond' shape, and secured it.

The sentiment is from Penny Black's Grateful Hearts and was stamped with Versa Claire Warm Breeze and heat embossed.  I die cut the sentiment with a generic tag die and raised it with foam, then secured it at the bottom right corner of the card. front.  Next I added three yellow enamel dots randomly around the image.  Lastly I added the blue organza ribbon and bow at the top fold to complete the card design.

I really enjoyed making this card for my special friend and shopping buddy! I can't wait to see what adventures we have for our next year!

I'm Falling for You!

Today I'm posting with the Polkadoodles Design Team using a Fall theme and a color palette.

For my card I've selected the image 'Careful' from the Winnie Special Moments Collection.

This is the color palette we were given to use for our fall themed cards.

I sized the image to about 3" and used my Copic markers for all the coloring.  I used Cracked Pistachio Distressed Oxide and Polkadoodles Heavenly Circles stencil for the background effect behind the cute image.

The card base is 5" square (turned with the fold to the left side) and I pieced the background papers from Polkadoodles, In Love with Autumn to achieve the background sketch I wanted.  After securing the completed image to the center of the card base, I added the twine around the fold and the wax seal daisy over the knot.  The seal is secured with a heavy duty glue dot.  The sentiment was mounted on a coordinating solid cardstock and secured at an angle above the image and slightly under the wax seal.  This completed the card design.

Be sure to check out all the Design Team cards on this week's Polkadoodles Challenge Blog, Week 36.   We'd love to see you join us with your card entries also.

Penguin's First Snow

Somewhere along the way, this cute little penguin hopped in my shopping card and has been waiting to be colored. Penguin's First Snow is made by Whiff of Joy and is a small stamp, a little less than 3" tall.

So when I colored him, I went ahead and fussy cut him out knowing I wanted to add a background to help make him big enough for the card.

I found a couple of random sheets in my stash that coordinated well with the toboggan hat and strategically cut the rectangle shape for the card front.  The other piece had 4 squares for journaling - the one with the snowflake was perfect for his size.  I rounded the corners and secured the snowflake paper to the card base then added foam squares to the back of the cut out penguin and added him in front of the snowflake.

Lastly I added the fishtail cut Christmas sentiment at an angle above the image.  Another card ready for my Christmas Stash 2023.

Never Lose Hope

Today's card is a beautiful dragonfly from Graciellie's Designs that I made for a card of encouragement.  It is from her Hope and Strength digital package.

I started by sizing the dragonfly to be slightly larger that the A2 card front and tilted it so that it was 'off the page'.  I layered the selected sentiment to the left and then printed on 110# Neenah cardstock.

I decided on a monochromatic coloring scheme using Copic colors R56, R85, R83, R81.  The black body was done using N6 and N8 and the eyes were done using Y26.

After trimming the edges, I added the patterned background and then secured both to the front of an A2 card base to complete today's design.
