Sunshine & Joy

I've seen several cards lately that have been stamped 'off the edge', a technique that I rarely think about doing.  However Simon Says Stamps 'Beautiful Flowers' stamp set seemed to be perfect for just that.

I used a 5 inch square piece of cardstock and stamped the floral image on the left edge allowing part of the image to not be captured.  The stamped sentiment on the right of the flowers is from Penny Black's Treasured Sentiments. Then I colored the lovely flowers with Copic markers.

I selected the pink patterned paper for the card base matting to coordinate with the flowers and a dark green solid cardstock for the image matting.  For the image and green matting, I used Pretty Shabby Square Dies by Carnation Crafts.  Lastly I secured each layer as shown to complete the card design.

I Can' Believe You're 40!

My youngest child turned 40 yesterday (27th) and I honestly think I got picked on more than she did!  Isn't that the way it always goes?  I just laughed and replied ... there has to be some math mistake somewhere!

But like all Moms ~ I am so very proud of my girl and her accomplishments in life.  For her special card, I selected Angie Blom Digital Designs, Birthday Age Number Girl.

I sized the girl to about 4" and placed the Happy Birthday below her.  After sizing the number to fit the design, I moved them to the side for printing, so they could be cut out after coloring.

The images were Copic colored and then die cut using Creek Bank Creations, Slim Arched Rectangle DieThe background card base was a 12 x 12 paper cut to 8"x8" and folded to make the base.  I also added the solid purple slim arched rectangle die under the completed image and secured both to the card base.  After fussy cutting the number '4 0' and adding fun foam to the back, they were also added to the base, at the top of the strings in the design.  Then to complete the card, I added the red organza ribbon and bow at the fold of the card.

Happy 40th Birthday Kimberly!

Princess Moana

It's the 27th of the month 'already'!  Which, if you've been following for a while, means another birthday month for Baby Olivia.  Her last month as a Disney Baby Princess.

What a wonderful eleven months of fun and special keepsake cards this has been!

For the eleventh month, Princess Moana has been selected for Baby Olivia's special photo shoot and for today's card.

I thought this image Baby Moana with her pot bellied pig, Pua, was perfect both for the Disney story and for the scripture selection.

The image is colored with Copic markers and trimmed then secured to the orange mat. Then I added the die cut sun and clouds and the computer generated scripture and Olivia's 11 month tag to complete the card design.

And from her photo shoot - all smiles this month!

I hope you'll come back on the 27th of September to see how we celebrate Olivia turning One!

I'm Hiding....

Happy Monday - Today I'm sharing another cute image from Di's Digital Stamps. This was a freebie from back in July on her Facebook page DisDigiStamps.

I also used this card for my August card swap for New Stamp or Die.  My swap partner happens to really love flamingos and cats!

This is a great summer image that works for lots of occasions.  I used Copic markers for the coloring and added the grass in with simple Copic 'flicks' in several shades of green.

For the background I used Hero Arts Sun stencil with Distressed Oxides Marigold and Mustard Seed.  I used Penny Black's Elegant Stitching Rectangle die for both the image and the matting.  The sentiment was stamped and embossed and is from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips ~ Snarky. This was also perfect for her having retired from a corporate HR position.

No Matter the Size of the Boy ~

If you know me, at some point you've read about my brother Mike and/or my best friend since childhood, Cindy.  But rarely do I mention my 'bonus brother, Doug'.  That is until today.

Doug is Cindy's brother, the quiet one in the background but one special guy too!

A super mechanic on the side who has rebuilt several classic cars and trucks, he recently purchased a beautiful completely restored 1960 Chevy Bel Air.

He recently celebrated another birthday and today I'm sharing the card I made for him.  My attempt at capturing his new purchase.

It's always a pleasure to attempt to give someone a card of something they love.  This one wasn't an easy one but it was certainly worth it for him.

Treasured Friendship

Today's card was made for a card swap with the challenge being a Fairy or Mushroom card.  I used a free coloring page image from Pinterest that I had downloaded several years ago.  Love it when an image fits the challenge!

I used Copic markers for coloring and used Carnation Crafts 'Pretty Shabby Squares' die set for the image and mat.   The sentiment is from Penny Blacks 'Special Thoughts' and is die cut using Creek Bank Creations 'Slim Arched Rectangle' die set.

Vintage Stitches

Today I'm sharing the birthday card I made for my sweet sister in law's birthday.  I've used the Vintage Sewing Machine image from Woodware stamps as the main image.

I started by using Copic markers to color the sewing machine and decorative items around it.  After coloring, I used a generic postage postcard die to cut the decorative edge on the image. I took a scrap of mint paper and cut a thin strip about  1/8 " x 2" and used it as a 'thread' for the striped button.  After threading, I crossed the paper on the back of the button, added a glue dot, then trimmed the papers behind the edge of the button.  Then I secured the button to the right of the machine.   I took two more glue dots and added the gold safety pins to the left of the sewing machine.

For the corner paper lace piece, I used the Sizzix Corner Doily 3D Embossing Folder and a silver cardstock.  I didn't like the brightness of silver paper embossed so I added Distressed Oxide, Black Soot and heat set the area.  Then I hand cut around the bottom edge of the doily.

For the card base, I used a 6" top fold and covered it with the coordinating marble patterned paper.  I secured the doily paper across the top, then added the sewing machine piece, overlapping slightly at the top.  Next I secured the metal Happy Birthday metal bars to the left of the image using heavy duty glue dots.   Lastly I added the aqua green twine wrapped around the top of the card front and secured the silk flower at the knot.

Summertime Chilling

This afternoon I'm posting with the Design Team with All Dressed Up Digital Stamps.  For the August Challenge Blog I've used this cute little fellow called 'Time to Cool Off' and created this beach scene card.

To make this card, I started by sizing the image to about 2 1/2" tall and colored him with Copic markers.  After selecting the background paper, then I colored the background in similar shades.

I used the Gina Marie Designs Label Six Nesting Dies for the decorative edges of the image and the coordinating blue mat. After trimming the background paper to fit the card base, I  added the green and yellow ribbon around the center.  Next I secured the background paper to the card base, then added the matted image.  I added a short piece of the ribbon to the left of the image, with just a simple knot.  The sentiment is from The Paper Loft and is also matted with the same blue cardstock and is raised with a layer of fun foam.

Rainy Raymond

Today I am posting with the Design Team for the Classic Design Challenge as we open the August challenge.  We are so happy to have three sponsors this month ~ Goha Digital Stamps, All Dressed Up Digital Stamps and  Dr. Digi House of Stamps,

For my design team project I used Dr Digi's Rainy Raymond and this is my card.

After sizing the image to about 3" and printing, I used Copic markers for coloring.  When completed, I fussy cut Raymond out and set him aside.

I secured the mauve mat to the card base then die cut the sentiment and navy mat for the sentiment.

I selected the blue patterned paper with the tiny vertical lines and used my Poppy Stamps, Raining FrameIt hard to see in the photo, but this die embosses vertical 'rain'.  Next I added the colored image in the center of the rain paper, ensuring the image covered the open umbrella die cut.  After securing the navy mat behind the sentiment, I  secured both the image and the sentiment to the front of the card base.  Lastly I added the navy organza ribbon at the fold of the card to complete the design.

God Is In Her...

Today I'm sharing a digital image from Angie Blom's Digital Designs that I used for a card swap for a 'beach scene'.  I used 'A Piece of Heaven' for the card along with scripture from the book of Psalm.

After sizing the image to fit an A2 card front, I colored the beach girl and the sunset with bright shades of Copic markers. I selected a solid dark aqua and the polka dotted brown paper for the mats.

I used the Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Stitched Rectangle dies for the decorated edges.   I used the same dark aqua for the mat on the sentiment after die cutting it with the Gina Marie Designs Drop Pendant die.

For the card base, I used a top fold A2 card base and added the layered photo and the sentiment.  To complete the design, I added a purple twine yarn across the top and tied in a loopy bow.

This was such a fun image to color, and hard to give away.
