Let Yourself be Silently Drawn

Good afternoon from the Creative Team for Morgan's ArtWorld.  We're rolling out the November Challenge Blog today and hope you will join us with your cards.

For my project card this month, I selected Morgan's Artworld - Angel 1.  While many use this image for sympathy cards, the sun images on the front of her gown inspired me to make this card of encouragement.

I started by sizing the angel to fit half of a 8 1/2' x 11" design space. Then I shifted her to the left to give me room to add my sentiment.

After printing, I colored her using my Copic markers (listed below).  You might notice the orange shades that start the dress, get lighter into yellows and peach through the wings.  I wanted the transition to be smooth, not a stark color change.

After searching through several dies, I landed on the Spellbinder Sun Face die to cut for the sun above her. I cut this with white cardstock and left the 'face' piece off so the center would be solid.  I used Copic Y17 and Y19 to shade the sun.

For the sentiment, it's computer generated and sized to fit beside the angel.  I used Gina Marie Designs Oblong Pierced Oval Label Die (discontinued) for the decorative edge.  After placing the sentiment by the angel, then I was able to decide how much of the Sun Face die I had room for.

Once I had both the sentiment and sun face secured, I trimmed all the edges. Next I  added a 1/2" gray liner mat to the black cardstock base and then added the completed image.

I used clear Wink of Stella to cover the Sun...

and also over the delicate wings.

Although the card is large, I really like how it turned out.  Sometimes it's okay to make an extra large card.  This beautiful image just wouldn't look right on a small card.  I hope you'll agree!

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog. I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to 'Follow' my blog and to visit my site - "Not Just Scraps' on Facebook - where you can purchase my cards.
