Birthday Wishes ~ Old West Locomotive Style

For those who have a love for trains, it is a very deep and
serious love.  All trains, whether new or vintage, running on the track or parked along side the road... the "train people" must stop and visit these trains.

Anyone who loves trains in the least would really love the Whimsy Stamps DoveArt image, Old West Locomotive with it's exceptional details.  Today's featured card was created using this stamp for a birthday card. Details for making your own follow the photo.

This stamp itself is quite larger measuring 5 1/4 wide and 3 1/2" tall.  After stamping on 110# card stock with Memento ink, I colored the image using Copic markers. Although you only see four basic colors ~ red, yellow, gray and black, I used 27 shades of Copic markers to color this image.  I wanted the overall card size to not be any larger than 6 x 6, so I made the strips of black 1" for around all of the sides and 3/4" for the papers on top of those strips.  That left the center block about 3 1/2" square and the image  about 3 1/4" square.  I stamped a generic "Happy Birthday to You" and used a fishtail tag also matted in black, then added three metal gears on the tag.  Once everything was glued into place, I added the red twine to completed the outside of the card.  Inside the card has a solid red mat with a white stitched edge mat writing area.

It was quite a project to color but the end result was worth the time spent. Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share this with you today. I hope you will visit the Whimsy site for this stamp and others and also check out the Digital Products section.

Also be sure to watch on the Whimsy Stamps & Inspirational Facebook Page this Saturday (10/6/18) for National Card Making Day Fun and Prizes.  Who knows... there might just be something going on over here on Pam's Pearls too!
