Love No Bunny Butt You!

Today I'm sharing an Easter card that I made for a recent weekend challenge - a Humorous card for April Fools Day.  I decided to combine mine with Easter since I had just gotten this cute Newton's Nook Bunny Hop set from my friend and Facebook seller Lisa. 

Here's what I came up with.

I selected the single image and used my Copic markers to color it.  I stamped the sentiment with Warm Breeze Versa Fine Clair ink then die cut both of these with a couple of miscellaneous dies.  

I pulled the coordinating aqua and plaid pieces from my scrap bucket to cover the A2 card front.  I used one of the My Favorite Things Stitched Scalloped Basic Edge dies to get the 'V' shaped for the plaid piece.  

After gluing the aqua on the bottom and adding the plaid above it, then I added the bunny and the sentiment.  I finished the card with the white organza ribbon and bow.

Headed Your Way!

One of my favorite customers is my HVAC friend who routinely orders cards for every holiday for his three children.   While he claims I save him a lot of time and trouble, I think he's a pretty special guy to even be ordering cards for his kids.  He is always on top of the holidays by making sure he orders in plenty of time (knowing it takes me a while due to other orders) and is very grateful for anything I prepare for him.  What a blessing!

His oldest son is nine now... so making an Easter card is getting right on the edge of being too childish.  He loves big trucks though and I thought this image just might work this year for him.

 I made the image about 4" long and colored it with bright Copic colors, staying with blues and reds as the main color choices.  The Whimsy Stamp Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle die was perfect for the edge, giving it a 'road' like finish.  

Next I selected a coordinating Aqua card and added a simple navy strip for contrast, then secured the image in the center. For the finishing touch, I added the red string at the fold and tied a simple bow.

So Special, So Loved

Recently I had the occasion to make sympathy cards for two sisters in my crafting group who's mother had passed.  I'd just gotten the Penny Black, Tiger Lily stamp from a new friend/Facebook seller from Texas. What better time than to use this stamp and to make the cards the same yet different. 

Pretty close aren't they?   I think you see that a lot with Copic colourist - they each have their style.  If you follow someone it doesn't take long to be able to pick out their work without their logo.  

But as you can see, I did make them slightly different with the decorative cut on the image.  On the first one I've used Gina Marie Designs Label Three Rectangle Nesting Dies and the second one I've used the Gina Marie Designs Labels Six Rectangle Nesting Dies.  To me both are elegant dies and give the card a nice soft effect.   What do you think?

You Quack Me Up!

Today I'm sharing a cute little Easter card I put together for a swap in my card group.  

The image is from 'Bunny Trail' by Craftin' Desert Diva.

After stamping the image on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used Copic markers for coloring.   The Gina Marie Designs Drop Pendant die was perfect for the small image.  

Next I cut the  diamond patterned paper to fit the front of the A2 size card.   I secured the image and matting to the right edge.  Then I added the aqua dotted ribbon across the top of the pendants and tacked the edges on the back with washi tape.   After adding the stamped sentiment bubble, I completed the card by securing the card front to the card base.

Hoppy Easter Bag

We're gathering all our Easter Eggs, Bunnies and other goodies this week here on the Polkadoodles Design Team to bring you our Easter creations!  

I've selected 'Love You This Much' from the Love Always Collection as a wobbler image on a tag.  This could be used  on a gift bag or Easter basket.

 After coloring the image with my Copics, I trimmed close to the image lines and then attached the wobbler to the back. I used the papers from the Splashing Around Craft Paper Pack for the tag and the three little tags behind the bunny. After wrapping the organza ribbon around the top of the tag and adding the bow, I positioned the bunny's wobbler to the left and secured it.  The tag is just held to the gift bag with a large paper clip, although the ribbon has  streamers attached for attaching to a basket.

What Ya Reading Today?

Today we're opening a new week's challenge at the Colour Crazy Challenge with our sponsor Scribbles Designs! 

I've selected their "Book Store" Image #865 and made a bookmarker today. 

 I printed the image about 3" tall and used my Copic markers for coloring the store front.  Then it was easy to match the burnt orange cardstock with the accents on the store to use for the backing.  I die cut both pieces with the Gina Marie Arched Stitched Tag die.  After securely gluing them together, I added the variegated orange and yellow fibers and yarns to make the tassel. Perfect for a bookmarker gift in a new book or just to drop in a greeting card.

Who doesn't love M&M's?  

Today I'm using a Google image for a fun Music Challenge card.   

I used Copic markers for coloring the image and the Gina Marie Design Drop Pendant Die for the stitched edge.  

I typed and printed the sentiment on my computer, then used the same die set for the sentiment and the patterned paper matting. 

The celebration matting is also used to cover the front of the A2 sized card base.  The layering consists of the image, then the sentiment matting, and then the sentiment.  A bow could be added but since I wasn't sure about the mailing, I decided to wait.

Hoppy Day to You!

Today I'm bringing to you another adorable Penny Black card.  

This little farmer boy is a stamp named "Hoppy Day".

Now if anyone reading this raised a little 'outside' boy, you can really relate to this image.  We've all had our little fellows come home with buckets of 'finds' that usually included something that jumped or slid away unexpectedly!  The artist has definitely captured a daily event that will truly bring a happy memory and a smile to the recipient of any card made with this image. 

My card is Copic colored and I used the Memory Box Matinee Rectangle Dies for the decorative edges on the image and the dark chocolate background.  The sentiment is stamped from Penny Black Special Thoughts. The 5 1/2" card base is covered with a wispy green paper. Then the image, with backing, and the sentiment are securely added to the base.  Lastly I added the black gingham ribbon bow at the fold to complete the card.

On Your Special Day

Today we're kicking off the April Challenge for Jan's Digital Stamp Shop and her Design Team members have prepared some beautiful spring cards for today's publication.   

There's a link further down to take you to that challenge so you can see all those cards and also enter your cards.  But first I'd like to share my project card.   

I've used Wedding Magnolias to make this one. 

 Isn't it wonderful how Jan has designed the double wedding rings with the opening?  They can be moved to fit around your sentiment or around the stem of the flowers. 

After coloring my card front with Copic markers I used the Gina Marie Frilly Lace Nesting Rectangle dies for the edge.  The image is mounted on a standard A2 size card base with a simple white organza bow.

Keep Your Eyes on the Stars

This afternoon we are rolling out the April Morgan's Artworld Challenge with another round of beautiful images from her Design Team. 

For my project card, I've selected Morgan's, 'Merida' ~ another image that would be perfect for a book cover, don't you think? 

 I've colored her beautiful flowing gown in Copic shades of blues and given her auburn hair.  

I printed a second image on 'plain' paper and trimmed it right on the image line.  I used this piece as a mask, carefully taping it to the colored image.  Then I used a makeup brush and 'Stormy Sky' Distressed Oxide to brush in the midnight colored background.

After stamping the sentiment, I trimmed the gold matting to 1/8" larger than both the sentiment and the completed image and secured to each accordingly.  The card base is a 6" square cream patterned design with the fold to the left.  The background mat is about 1/8" smaller and matches the woodgrain piece in the background.  After securing the image and the sentiment, I added the three dots across the top right corner and tied the gold rope at the fold.
