May the God of Love Be the Heart of Your Marriage

Today I'd like to share with you a simple yet stunningly elegant Wedding Congratulations card I recently made. 

For the card I selected the Unity Stamp Co.,  Good Be Wonderful image by Angie Blom.  Here's the card and a bit about the sweet couple who recently wed.  The details of the card are also listed at the bottom of this posting  if you'd like to make this card yourself. 

Isn't that a beautiful image, especially for a bride?  I love making a card when the image reminds me of the recipient. The bride, Lisa, always wears her beautiful dark locks up in a bun like this image! As we have watched her relationship bloom with Rodney, it wasn't a huge surprise when they stopped in September 28th where we Shag with the announcement they had just gotten married! 

Everyone quickly cleared the floor as the DJ honored them with a special song, then we all joined them for the second round and surrounded them afterwards with congratulations and best wishes.

Thankful, Grateful and Blessed

Good Monday Morning to you!  While many of you have been enjoying the cooler temperatures for a while, here in South Carolina our chilly mornings have finally arrived, the leaves are starting to turn and fall to the ground, and that extra blanket on the beds really feels good.  Along with many others in this area, I would say October is my favorite month of the year.  The time hasn't changed yet and the weather is so perfect to enjoy as much of the day as possible outside taking in all the beauty that our Master paints for us each day.

These early fall days were my inspiration for my Thankful card that I'd like to share with you today.  This was for a card swap so it was actually made earlier this month when the leaves had not started to change colors yet.

I selected the Whimsy Stamp, Oak Tree Boy by Sylvia Zet.

After stamping the image on #110 Card stock, I used Copic markers for coloring in shades of greens, browns, and deep orange. I then die cut the image using the Gina Marie Designs Double Stitched In and Out Cut Hexagon  Die Set.  The image is large, and required using the largest die in this set.  Since I still needed a dark matting paper, I glued the image onto the brown plaid then carefully trimmed the excess leaving approximately 1/4" matting around the image.   The boy has two small jingle bells on his hat and there is one on the bird's hat ~ which of course didn't work for a fall card.  However adding the itty-bitty tan buttons over the bells worked just fine and added a little dimension to the card too.  Next I mounted the bright green pre-embossed mat onto the Kraft card base, then added the completed image.  The sentiment is from Unity Stamps and I merged two tag dies to make the stitched lines around the sentiment.  I finished the image by adding a brown organza bow and a white liner to the inside for a nice writing area.    I was fortunate also to be able to send this Thankful card to one of my virtual friends that is on two card sites with me.  It is an additional joy to share cards with sisters in Christ.

A Day Filled With Your Favorite Things

For today's featured card I used one of Whimsy Stamps new September releases,   Ruby's Christmas Wishes, by designer Marina Fedotova. Although her title indicates for Christmas, I made my card for a birthday.  
The sweet friend that I made this card for is one I met at the place where we Shag.  I just love the pose on this image because it reminds me of how much fun we have together...trying to be graceful as we learn new dances.  We definitely wish we had that magic wand to help us!  I've again been blessed by so many new friends along this path also...Margie ~ You are such a sweet lady - may you dance every day, like no one is watching.  

The image is printed on 110# card stock, Copic colored and then fussy cut.  I used a coordinating aqua patterned with a Spellbinder die cut edge for the horizontal strip; solid brown for the vertical strip, and a solid deep orange for the background matting.  The sentiment is from Unity Stamps.   Both the sentiment and the image are raised with foam squares.  For the finishing touch I used Diamond Stickles by Ranger to accent all the snow flakes and Wink of Stella Clear to cover the fur on her outfit.

The Cutest Little Trick or Treaters

Today's featured card is showing three of the cutest little Trick or Treaters you may see this season.

Using Whimsy Stamps, Penguin Trick or Treaters by Crissy Armstrong, they are coming to bring a smile to your home today.

After Copic coloring, which takes quite a bit of time, I used the Pink & Main Stitched Rectangle dies for the image and the two background pieces.  A bit of brown twine made the perfect Lasso and a few Gina Marie Designs glitter enamel dots finished up the card.

Get Your Spooky On...

One of the great surprises in my Grab Bag from Unity Stamps last month was the Spooky Girl stamp by Angie Blom.  With the new Unity Challenge being PINK, PINK, and PINK, I decided to use my new Spooky Girl in 'non traditional' colors.

Here's the finished card, however look below the photo to see what else is there....

For the background I used Whimsy Stamps, Web Background stamp and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink.  The window is the Spellbinders Window Two (S2-016).  The sentiment is also part of the Spooky Girl set. 

After Copic coloring the image and adding a few Stickles drops around her, I use a leather strip of hot pink to make the tag bow and carefully slid the tag behind the window.  Once positioned with the bow just above the window, I took each tag tie, pulled them to the inside of the card and tacked down temporarily with Washi Tape.  The message in the card will tell the receiver to pull the tape off and enjoy the Book Marker after the Halloween events.

And Wonderfully Made

Today's featured card is one I made this morning for a sketch challenge on Christian Card Makers.   

I wanted to use the scripture from Psalms 139:14 ~

"You are Beautiful For you are fearfully and wonderfully made"

so I selected Unity's Jessica Girl ~ Stronger Than Anyone, by designer Angie Blom. 

The sketch was very basic so it didn't take long to put this together  It's a great design layout for you to try too! 

Here's my finished card and the sketch we were given afterwards.

There are a lot of the Unity Angie Girls that work great with this scripture verse.  In today's peer pressured world, I believe it is so very important that we as Mothers, Grandmothers or just friends reinforce with the young girls the strength they have comes from within and can be so well enhanced with a closer walk with our Savior.

Welcome to the 50's

Today's blog is another peak into the FKS Fall Retreat that was held in September.  With the theme  ~ Scrap, Rattle & Roll and our crafty friend Katie, the photo booth and props this time were definitely a huge hit with everyone.  

Today I'd like to share just a few of the captured moments. 

If you wonder how they build those balloon arches - here's ours in progress.  

Yep that's duct tape and tons of balloons! Of course - you must have the poodle on the skirt and a crate of Coke in a glass bottle.  

Our t-shirts were made locally here in Batesburg, SC by The SpecialTee Shop.  The sapphire blue with vinyl records, music notes and our theme coordinated perfectly with the photo booth. 

These are just a few of the 20 plus ladies who attended the retreat.  And yes, they did get their Crafting On also...but that's another day's sharing.

Where Do Your Train Dreams Take You?

The Whimsy Blog is open again and this is my first entry.  I hope you will upload your card creation to their Facebook page ~ Whimsy Stamps & Inspiration for your chance to win.

Each month on Addicted to Card Making 2.0, we are given a card challenge honoring the founder of the original ATCM site, Jennifer Raines.  For the month of October, Jennifer loved the movie Polar Express, so our challenge was to make a card with a train on it.

For my submission I used the new release of Whimsy's Penguin Elves at the Workshop Digital Version, by designer Crissy Armstrong.  By using the digital image I was able to crop only the part of the stamp that I wanted to use. 

Don't you just love the way this little fellow is so focused on the train - drawn deeply in his dreams.  No matter what our age - it seems a train and adventures go together.  As we enter the holiday season - whether you are watching the movie Polar Express and dreaming of going to the North Pole or watching another seasonal special, remember the true meaning of the season which we are celebrating.

Feel Better Soon ~ Whimsy Designs

Today's I'd like to share two Get Well cards I'm sending as part of a donation package to a Pregnancy center that we are supporting this month on one of the card making sites that I'm a member of.  

For the first card, I used the Whimsy Penguin's Rainy Day image by Crissy Armstrong.

The image is Copic colored and I added several embossed clouds at the top before gluing the frame on top.  The yellow inter-cut die frame is by Quickutz and the larger background mats are dies by Spellbinders.  The Feel Better Soon die is by Stamps of Life.  

On the second card, I selected the Penguin Dr. Cute also by designer Crissy Armstrong. 

The image was also Copic colored and then I hand cut this one out.  I used a purple large raised dotted 4 x 6 card and applied several bright dotted and bandage stickers with a large OUCH! in the center, then added the feel better soon die (by Stamps of Life) and  added Dr Cute on raised foam dots.  After applying to the card base, I added the matching organza ribbon for the finishing touch.

Look at the Birds of the Air

Today's card was created for a sketch challenge and also as part of a group donation to a Pregnancy Center in one of the card groups I'm a member of. 

The beautiful background paper and the small bird and flower photos used in my card are recycled from a Lang Calendar.  The scripture taken from the book of Matthew was typed to fit, then printed on beige card stock and matted on light green card stock.  All pieces were matted on a 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" top fold card base.
