Winter Snowbirds for a Merry Christmas

Today on Jan's Digital Stamp Challenge Blog, we are sharing another round of cards for your inspiration.

For this posting, I've selected Jan's Winter Snowbirds.

I selected the image of the birds without the twig frame, sized it for a A2 card front and after printing I colored it using my Copic markers.

I especially love the holly leaves and berries in this image.  When completed, I used Gina Marie Designs Pierced Nested Oval die for the decorative edges.  Using a A2 card base, I secured the dark green matting, then the colored image and the "Merry Christmas' sentiment across the bottom.  Lastly I added Diamond Stickles to the snow areas on the fence to complete my card.

Snow Family Greetings!

It's a new week at the Colour Crazy Challenge blog!  I'm sharing the 'Snow Family' card that I made using our sponsor 'Jan's Digital Stamp Shop' - Snowglobe Family images.

I printed the 'Mom & Dad' on my card front, and printed the 'baby' separately. I've used Copic markers for the image coloring and drew in the snowy background.

After coloring and fussy cutting the 'baby' I made a little post sign with the sentiment and secured to her 'hand'.

I selected a dark green 5" x 6" card base and secured the background patterned paper and the main image.  Then I added the baby in the front by gluing her at the bottom and adding foam squares to the top and to the sign to give dimension to the designs.

What a fun set of images with endless possibilities!

You're the Best Friend EVER!

Today on the Polkadoodles Craft Challenge we are all about Friendship!  I don't know about you but I for one am so very blessed with the best girlfriends in the world!

For my card today, I selected two of the Honeypie little girls and have merged them into one card.

On the left is 'Sweet Heart Balloon' and on the right is 'Love Heart'.

I've also added several precolored digi flowers from Polkadoodles Magic Garden Soup.  This is a great little set full of doodles to accent your card designs.

After getting the design like I wanted, I colored them with Copic markers and then put together an easel card.  I've used papers from the Polkadoodles Splashing Around Craft Papers.  I added the 'You're the Best Friend ever'  from Winnie Daisy Greetings.   I used three foam squares under the tabbed piece to allow the card front to sit behind it, making the easel design.

Be sure to visit the Polkadoodles Craft Challenge to see all of the Design Team's cards and enter yours also!

Sing and Make Music

from your heart to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:19)

I'm sharing another male birthday card today.  For this one I used Stampin Up Country Livin'  set with the scripture sentiment from Ephesians.

This special birthday guy's hobby of playing the guitar and singing is even more special now as he sings to their new baby girl.  He's definitely a blue jeans and boots kinda guy!

It's a bit tricky to stamp rubber stamps as close as this image.  In this case the guitar needed to be leaning on the boots.  Instead of stamping and missing, I learned a trick from one of my fellow cardmakers.

You simply lay a piece of acetate over the area you need to stamp, putting one of the magnets on it (assuming you are using a Misti or some type stamping platform), then lightly ink your stamp and stamp on the acetate.  The ink wipes off easily and you can reposition your stamp and try again - without messing up your paper or the other stamped images!

After getting the image stamped nicely, then I used my Copic markers for coloring.  I used the Memory Box, Matinee Rectangles for the decorative edge on the image and the sentiment.

I cut the brown cardstock card base to 4 1/2" x 6" and mounted the music paper matting.  Then I added the colored image and sentiment layers.  I used a piece of heavy twine to tie the cross on for the finishing touch.

Life Is An Adventure

Today I'm sharing a custom designed card for one of my customer's Dad's birthday.

The request was for a red truck in the mountains.  I knew immediately that I wanted to use Angie Blom's Dream Big Mountains for the background.  I've used this on several previous cards and loved the results.

Next I scanned through all of my Angie Blom's digital files and came across the perfect truck in the Winter Wonderland set.  Another great thing about working with digital images ~ if you are familiar with this image, there is a snow covered tree in the back of the truck.  For my design, I just blocked that part out and layered the truck into the mountain scene.

In the next layer, I added the sentiment 'Life is an adventure', and then printed the image on Neenah 110# cardstock.

I colored the image with my Copic markers, which are referenced below.  After deciding on the matting paper, I used the Tattered Lace Hemstitch Square.  This is the first time I've used this die and I LOVE the edge and stitch it makes!

I mounted the colored image and plaid matting on a brown 6" card base.  To balance the red across the design,  I added the red string with a tiny clock at the knot.

One more tiny step ....  I used glossy accents on the windshield and window to complete my card design.

Always wait until the last step for this. No matter how careful you are, you'll end up putting your finger in it!  Lay it flat to dry for several hours.

Little Butterfly Girl

Today's card was made for one of my online friends; one that I truly hope to meet some day in my lifetime.   Karle' and I met through my page where I 'rehome' stamp and craft supplies. I eventually named her the 'Queen of All Small Stamps' as I marvel at the cute cards she can create with all these tiny stamps!

Yesterday was her birthday and although this image isn't small like her stamps, it's tiny and dainty just for her, complete with a BIG bow which she loves for me to make for my cards.

This image is from All Dressed Up and is named Little Butterfly Girl.  I pulled the sentiment from a Fabulous Classy verse set.

I've colored the image with Copic markers and then used Gina Marie Design's Pierced Nested Label Die for the pretty edge.

I used an A2 size card base and added the coordinating patterned paper matting before securing the image to the center.  Then the final touch ~ Karle's Big Bow with pink organza ribbon.

Always be grateful for the friendships you have. Whether they are in person or online, they are in your life only for a season... but definitely for a reason.

Happy Birthday Karle'

Candy Corn Witch

October is finally here! Cooler temperatures and time to start the decorating season!  I love this time of year from Halloween, through Thanksgiving and of course all the days of Christmas.

Today I'm with Jan's Digital Stamp Shop Design Team as we start her October Challenge Blog.  I've selected her newly released Candy Corn Witch for today's project.

I sized the colorful witch to about 5" long and after printing, colored her with my Copic markers.  I used my Pink & Main Stitched Oval die to cut the completed image and the purple patterned mat.

Next I took an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of white cardstock and folded it in half (at 5 1/2") to make the card base.  I used one die smaller than the die I had used for the matting and cut the card base, allowing ~ 1/4" of the die to  extend past the fold.  This gave me the oval shaped card base to use.  I secured the card front onto the base, making sure none of the base was showing around the edge.  Then I added the three tiny diamond dots randomly around the image to complete my card.

Morgan La Fay ~

Good afternoon from the Creative Team for Morgan's ArtWorld.  The October Challenge Blog is now open for you to see all the Design Team creative cards AND to enter your cards into the challenge.

This month I picked Morgan's image named "Morgan La Fay" for my Design Team card.  I always think of the romance series of books with images like this one.  Wouldn't she be a perfect book cover!

Morgan can sure capture the wildness through their eyes and long flowing hair.  They are really fun to color!

For today's card, I sized  the full image to about 3" x 4 1/2".  After printing on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used my Copic markers for coloring.  I just received a new Tattered Lace die called Paper Tear Centre, which is what I used with a textured deep aqua green paper.

I used the lighter aqua green shade in her outfit to match the cardstock I used for the card base.  I cut this to a standard A2 size with a side fold.  I added the dark mat and image to the card base, tilting them slightly to the left.  I also added several tiny dots of gold Stickles to her outfit. To finish the card I added a coordinating rust colored organza ribbon at the fold and then tied an enamel 'together' tag at the knot.

My Goodness Gracious

I'm here today with the Critter Crazy Challenge Design Team as we kick off the October Challenge.

For my project card today, I've selected 'Southern Heifer' from Whimsy Stamps.

Don't you just love this 'southern' saying too!  This set is full of fun southern slang that is bound to be a hit on your cards.

After stamping  the image and two sentiments, I used my Copic markers for coloring.  I used the Spellbinder Gilded Nested Rectangle dies for the decorative edges on the image and the black patterned matting.  I mounted both layers on a gray card base to complete the card.

Be sure to visit the Critter Crazy Challenge blog to see all the Design Team cards and to enter yours also!

He Will Cover You With His Feathers

I'm here this afternoon with the Classic Design Team, rolling out the October, Classic Design Challenge Blog. Our sponsor for the month is Fred She Said.  I have selected their Nuthatch  bird for my project card.

I also used this card design recently at the crafting retreat that I hosted.  I gave them the feather frame and sentiment as a make 'n take for them to add a bird.

I sized the bird to about 3 1/2" square and printed the image on Neenah 110# card stock.  I've used Copic markers for my coloring and they are referenced below.

I had purchased this new die from one of the Facebook sellers and it was just perfect for the image with the circle of feathers around the outside edge. It's sold by Paper Boutique and called Angels Are Near.

I selected a solid gray cardstock for the feather die and then the burnt orange patterned paper for the card base mat. I received the scripture quote at a recent retreat.  I added it to the bottom corner and the card front was complete.

Having used a black card base, I did add a white journaling box inside to complete the total card design.

Be sure to visit the Classic Design Challenge Blog to see the other Design Team cards and to enter your entry.
