Slowing Down to Warm Your Heart

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I wanted to share a cute image from Polka Dot Orchard and my first Valentine's card.

This image and sentiment are from the Camper Snail package by Polka Dot Orchard's designer Kimberly Wiener.

I used Copic markers for coloring, then fussy cut the image. I am really enjoying using a lot of plaids and was tickled that this image blended so well with this miscellaneous piece of plaid paper.  I used Penny Black's Elegant Stitching die for the edge of the plaid paper.  I mounted a solid pink textured matting to the A2 card base, then added the  plaid mat and the colored image.  Next I added the sentiment tag with an additional tiny pink enamel dot
and tucked the edge under the Snail Camper.  I embellished with a couple additional sizes and colors of enameled dots in the bottom right corner.

A quick side note on bows ~ there are so many options from tied strings, to a simple knot, to an elaborate double looped bow.  Here is the same card with different 'bow' options.  Which do you think is the best choice?

For my taste, the organza ribbon with the simple knot is the best.  I think the card has a lot 'going on' with the design itself and a full double loop bow would make the card too busy. The string is okay, but I still prefer the white contrast.  I encourage you to try different combinations of bow choices on your cards as it can really change the look of your card.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Click HERE to visit Polka Dot Orchard's website.    I'll also be entering this card in the following challenges:

  1. What a fun card Pam, and so beautifully coloured and constructed - like you I prefer the simple white ribbon treatment.
