A Classic Grandson!

I guess it's just about every young high school boy's dream to get a truck as their first vehicle.  It doesn't have to be a new truck either - some covet their Dad's and Grandfather's trucks just as much as they do one straight off the new car lot. 

Whatever the case may be, if that dream is going to happen it truly is a day to remember in that young boy's life.  

One of my friends commissioned today's featured card for her grandson, Trennan who got his 1971 Ford on his 17th birthday.  I used Polka Dot Orchard's, A True Classic by Jeanie Hays and selected the colors similar to the truck he received.

It's always a pleasure to be allowed to help honor such a happy event and know that he will treasure the card from his Grandmother for many years to come.

I believe he's one happy fellow!

For We Walk by Faith

I'm back today with another Bugaboo Stamps digital image as the other weekend challenge that I played in was 'Lots of White Space'.  Their Sun Bonnet Beach little girl fit perfectly in the corner of my 5" card.

I sized her to about 2 1/2" tall and added the scripture from 2 Corinthians 5:7, then printed her on Neenah 110# card stock.  I used my Copic markers for coloring and the Pink & Main Stitched Rounded Square Die Cuts for the edge. I covered the white card base with the bright beachy looking striped paper and then secured the colored image in the center.  I have to admit, it was hard not to add bling and a bow in all that white space up there! But it was a great challenge and I'm sure I'll use this style layout again.

Sing of what God has done

Today I'd like to share a quick little  project I made Sunday afternoon.  

In one of the card groups I'm in, we are currently making 25 bookmarkers of encouragement for teens with cancer. For mine, I decide to use Bugaboo Stamp's Just a Note 1 ~ this cute little angel  'note' with part of the scripture from Psalm 132:9.

I was able to lay out 12 of these on a sheet at a time making them about 1 1/2" x 4".  I didn't do a lot of Copic shading for these, but matched the angel dresses with the 2" x 6" scrap strips of papers that I save from my card fronts. After securing the colored image to the background I used a fishtail die to cut each bookmarker end.  It took some time to make all 25 but it was a great afternoon project and as always a blessing to know you are making something that might impact someone's life toward finding our Savior or simply just having a better day.

Down On the Farm

 Today I'm joining Team A on the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog (Week 27) with our sponsor Angie Blom Designs and a new week for you to join in with us!

For my project card, I've used the rooster from the Coolest Chicks Ever and the sentiment 'If the Crown Fits Wear It'.  

Here's what I came up with...

I printed the rooster about 3" tall and used Copic markers for coloring then fussy cut around him and set him aside.

I started with a Kraft 5 1/2" card base and covered it in a blue that matched the rooster feathers.   I used the Taylored Expressions Chicken Wire embossing folder with red cardstock for the next layer.  The down on the farm and the chicken border came from an Echo Park Paper pack and were the next layer along with the rooster.  The last layer is the sentiment which I cut with a miscellaneous double fishtail swirl die and secured over the rooster and the bottom picture.  Lastly I added the wooden button with a thin strip of the blue paper as the 'thread' which 'ties it all together'.

Be A Warrior!

Today I want to share with you one of the new Hampton Arts stamps by designer Tracey Hey called Warrior 1.  The adorable lion has sooo many possibilities from birthdays to encouragement to adding scriptures or get well... it just goes with everything!

I decided to create it first just like the packaging not to be influenced by all the thoughts that were going through my brain.... just get the card made so I could show it to you! I just know you will be rushing out to grab yours along with a few more of her collection of adorable animals too!

How Sweet the Sound

Today I'm sharing another one of Graciellie's Designs ~ this time the beautiful Thrive Succulent, paired with the sentiment 'Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound'. The simplicity of these flowers and the sentiment allow us to relax knowing all is well, no matter what is going on in our lives, if we trust in our Lord God and Savior.

 

For this card I sized the image about 4" long and 2 1/2" wide, then printed it on Neenah 110# card stock.  I used my Copic markers for coloring then put the 6" square in my Misti and stamp the sentiment.  I used the Deco Squares by Craft Essentials die for the decorative edging next.  The lavender striped paper covers the A2 card base which has a side fold.  I secured the image then added the black twine and cross to complete the card design.

At My Age ~ A Quiet Surprise

As our neighbor quietly turned 70 a few weeks ago, he made his wife promise no parties.  But seriously, who can let a major milestone of 70 pass without some sort of gathering and sharing of a meal?  The three couples anxiously awaited his arrival for dinner while his wife worked diligently to keep the surprise and get him there without delay.

As they rounded the corner and we started to sing our sincerest Happy Birthday Jim!, he calmly turns and says to his blushing bride, 'We'll talk about this later." ... and the laughter roars!

Of course I had to make a card - it's expected right?  I selected three images for this special occasion - the Scooter Turtle from Beccy's Place, The Slow Lane, the background from Angie Blom's Digital Designs, Dream Big Mountains and the sparkling cake inside from Penny Black, Delectable.

 

Inside

All of the images were printed on Neenah 110# card stock and colored with my Copic markers. I used a swirly embossing folder for the solid orange background on the front of the card. The next layer is the background layer from Angie Blom Digital Designs.  Then the turtle is fussy cut and glued onto the background with this head and upper body raised with foam dots.  The Happy Birthday is attached on the right corner then the sentiment is added at the top corner. 

Inside I added the Penny Black multi-layered cake that is also colored with Copic markers and highlighted with Stickles. The card was a lot of fun to make using the different stamps and added to the surprise of the party.

I Love to See That Smile!

I'm here this afternoon with the Corrosive Challenge Blog Design Team as we roll out a new month's challenge right in the middle of your Sunday afternoon festivities!

 I used Copic markers for coloring this image and Memory Box Wrapped Scalloped Rectangular die for the edge.  The 5 1/2" square card base is covered in balloon celebration paper, then an additional horizontal solid yellow strip, and a strip of washi tape before adding the image to the card base.  For the final touch I added the enamel 'smile' with two self adhesive black dots.

You're Really Taking Off!

Today I'm here with my Polkadoodles Design Team bringing you another cute 'Critter' card.  I've used Horace and Boo Scooting Around and made a slider that allows them to "climb the hill" on the card front.

 

 For this card I printed the image on Neenah 110# card stock and colored it using my Copic markers.  I fussy cut around the image leaving a good 1/8" border. I started building the background with several of the printed digital papers... from the top - the clouds are digital BP_06, brown solid fence, then the deep aqua printed words piece is from Music BP_14, and the flowers are from BP_05 and BP_03.  The small light green stems are die cut using Polkadoodles Super Sprig Craft Die.  The sentiment is from Winnies Celebration 3 Sentiment Kit.

I'm Allergic to Mornings

Today I'm here with my fellow design team members on the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies with a new month's challenge.  Our sponsor for July is Jan's Digital Stamp Shop.  For my project card, I've selected her Knight Owl along with the cute sentiment "I'm Allergic to Mornings!"  I'm sure quite a few of you can relate to that!

When you check out this digital package you'll see it comes with both color and b/w images and FIVE sentiments!  Be sure to check out all the great digital packages Jan has to offer.

For my card, I sized the image with the sentiment to fit an A2 card front, then reduced it slightly and printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  I used Copic and Staedtler markers for coloring.  The decorative edging was done using the Penny Black Elegant Stitching Rectangle die set.  After securing the layers to the card base, I die cut a tiny tag out of a scrap and secured a clock charm to it using a glue dot and a piece of a twist tie, then secured this to the card.  Lastly I added some small dots of Diamond Stickles to each of the stars to give them a little sparkle.
