Friends Like Us

July is just a busy birthday month!  Monday (15th) I actually had three close girlfriends who all shared their special day.    This fun one is from Di's Digital StampsBee Mice and Hoppy.

I started by sizing the image to about 3" tall and then used Copic markers for the coloring.  I stamped the sentiment from the My Favorite Things, Friends Like Us set.

I selected a solid green cardstock for the matting and used the Gina Marie Designs Venetian Label Dies.  After covering the 6" card base with the patterned paper, then I secured the matted image and matted sentiment.

Happy Birthday Wishes to Evie!

Hope your day was Marvelous!

Sending Love and Hugs

This afternoon I'm back, this time with the Design Team for All Dressed Up Digital Stamps as we open the July challenge.

For my project card, I selected Potted Plants both because she is just the sweetest, and I love the little kitten in the pot at her feet.

Here's my completed card and then how I made it for your reference.

I started with the image and sized her to about 3" tall, then printed her on 110# Neenah cardstock and used Copic markers for coloring.  That was the FUN part!  Coloring is my joy!  I used the Gemini Torn Edge Oval 2 die set to get the decorative edge shown, then set her aside.

For the background I used the Altenew Daisy Bed 3D Embossing Folder and the blackout technique - except I didn't use black of course.  For the daisies I used Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, and Brushed Corduroy.  Then I inked the flat sections with Memento Tangelo ink which filled in all the white spaces.  I trimmed the edges and mounted on the brown cardstock and then the 6" card base with the fold at the top.

I added the 1/2" strip of deep aqua across the lower third of the card front and then secured the colored image to the left side.  I used Simon Says Stamps, Beautiful Flowers, Love and Hugs sentiment and embossed it on the aqua strip beside the colored image.

Next I matched the aqua ribbon to the strip and added it at the top fold, along with the white ribbon flower I found.  I love that the center of the flower also matched perfectly.  Once the flower was secured at the knot and the ends of the ribbon trimmed, the card design was complete and ready for the mail.

This special card went in the mail to my best friend for over 60 years ~ as today is Cindy's birthday and this card was made for her!

Happy Birthday Cindy!  Hope your day is Fantastic!

Most Gracious Lord

This morning I'm posting with the Design Team for the Classic Design Challenge as we open the July challenge. This month we have two sponsors ~ The Paper Shelter and Fred She Said Digital Designs. Thank you to both sponsors!

For my project card, I selected the Daisies and Ladybugs from Fred She Said to make this card of encouragement.

I sized the daisies to about 4 1/2" wide and colored them with Copic markers.  I fussy cut around the flowers  and  added a small vellum die cut flower in the center of each flower, then added the small dot of 'bling'.

On the A2 card base, I added the peach polka dotted paper at the top, and the yellow gold  patterned paper at the bottom.  I added the gold lace across the area where the two papers met.   I added a wide piece of fun foam behind the fussy cut flowers and then added it at the top of the lace.

I stamped the sentiment from Sweet 'n Sassy, Timeless Hymns, trimmed close to the sides and die cut a decorative edge across the bottom.  As I secured it to the card front, I tucked the top edge under the lace.  Lastly I added the piece of tan twill at the card fold and knotted it just above the flowers.  The gold thread in the center of the twill really sets off the yellow gold shades in the card.

I'd also like to mention that the papers and embellishments used were part of an 'envelope' challenge on one of my card swap groups.  The hostess did a great job coordinating the papers for this challenge which made adding the flowers perfect for this design.

Poppies for a Perfect Day!

Today I'm sharing a birthday card I made this week with a beautiful new 'to me' stamp. It seems no matter how many flower stamps we have, there is always room for a couple more.   This one is Altenew's Iceland Poppies with the Altenew's Organic Linen Embossing folder for the background.

After stamping the image, I used Copic markers for the coloring.  I used a double notched rectangle die for the completed image.

I selected a 4" x 6" light green card base.  I trimmed the embossed folder paper down to about 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" and secured it to the card base.  Before adding the colored image, I inked the edges with Copic YG67.   I added a left over 1/2" strip of the green across the base of the image, then added the Happy Birthday fishtail sentiment tag to complete the card design.

Another Chick Tribe Gathering

The recent Unity Stamps 'Chick Tribe' stamp brings back so many girlfriend fun memories for me every time I see it.  Before retiring and for many years following retirement, a special group of five of us got together for our birthday's and Christmas each year.  Like many friendships, those meetings have dwindled as several of us have relocated.  However the friendships have NOT!  We all remain close friends and know we are merely a text or phone call away.

Today is one of our 'Chick Tribe' gals birthday and this is the card that I mailed to her.  The chances that it arrived on time.... well I'm just not sure.

But it's okay as she's one busy traveling Grandma who enjoys seeing her family at various locations.  I made this card using wild vibrant colors which also describe this birthday girl.   She lives for the Lord and loves every day of life to the fullest degree.

I used the Penny Black Elegant Stitches Rectangle die set for the decorative edge on the completed image and on the patterned paper matting.  Then I secured both pieces to the 4" x 6" lavender top fold card base.  I added the mint organza ribbon at the fold to complete the design.

Although many birthday sentiments would have fit on this card, I elected to leave the sentiment off and allow all the focus to be on the chick tribe.  I love the girls this tribe represents to me and I'm betting you might have a few that fit this stamp also.

Treasure those friendship!  They are priceless...

Happy Birthday Marilyn!  Have a Fabulous Day!

Worship Through the Pain

Today I'm sharing a get well card I made for a friend following surgery.  I had just received this Unity Stamp,  Special Place and couldn't wait to try it out.

As with all Unity stamps, the image stamped beautifully ~ crisp and clear!   I enjoyed coloring this lovely image with my Copic markers.

Afterwards, I used the Gina Marie Designs, Label 3 die set and placed it to the right edge of the design, making the center only a little over an inch from the left edge of the image.  I used the Monarch Versa Clair ink and stamped the sentiment from the Sweet 'n Sassy, The Lord is Near set then used a smaller die in the same set to die cut it.  I used Copic V17 and inked the edges of the die cut sentiment and the image.

I used a hunter green card base and double matted the background papers, first with the pink polka-dotted paper, then with the solid pink.  I trimmed the left edge of the colored image to fit it properly at the top of the mat.  Before securing, I tucked the sentiment under the bottom right edge then secured both pieces.  Lasty I added the hunter green twine wrap at the card fold and tied the loopy bow to complete the design.

God Is Our Refuge and Strength

In celebration of July 4th this year, I am sharing a card I made this past weekend for a challenge honoring this holiday.  I have used the Altenew Stellar Cascade 3D Embossing folder for this design which I had just received.

While all of the examples on the Altenew website were Christmas designs for this folder, I thought it was great for the 4th of July celebration.

I used a multi colored star printed paper and a dark blue Memento ink with the folder.  My ink pad was a tear drop style which was great for inking the points of star.  After embossing, I trimmed the paper down to 5 1/4" and made a 5 1/2" red card base.  I secured the embossed piece to the front then added the tiny USA that I'd cut from a scrap of paper.

I stamped the scripture sentiment from the Sweet 'n Sassy set, The Lord is Near.  I trimmed it close to the words and added a red mat out of the same paper as the card base.  After securing the sentiment at the bottom right corner, I added two red sparkly stars to the center of each of the stars to complete my design.

Wishing you and your family a safe and Happy 4th of July celebration!

Go Forth and Conquer

Last month one of my cards was randomly selected on The Paper Funday Challenge as the winner for the Guest Designer for July.  I'm always honored when asked and excited to play along with the other Design Team members.

The "Twist" to their Anything Goes Challenge for the July is 'Critter Crazy'.  With that in mind, I've selected a layered paper background using Altenew's, Mountain Die set and my Critter is a turtle from Beccy's Place, The Slow Lane digital package.

This is my completed project followed by a few of the details on how I made this project.

I started with selecting several coordinating strips of green patterned paper for the mountain layers, then die cut the four layers using the Altenew, Mountain Die set. Starting at the second strip, I glued each at the top and secured to the one above, keeping the edges straight. At the top, I added a strip of blue cloud paper and secured it to the back of the top mountain strip.

For the ground, I used a piece of kraft cardstock and stamped the pebbles from the My Favorite Things, On Solid Ground set.  I used Copic markers and colored the rocks and added shadows. Then I secured it to the bottom of the mountain layers.  I trimmed this background piece on both sides, down to 5 1/4" to fit a 5 1/2" size card base.  I used a white base with the fold on the left side and secured the background mountain and ground pattern onto the card front.

Next I used Copic markers to color the turtle on the scooter from Beccy's Place.  Then I carefully fussy cut him out as close to the line as possible and inked the edges so any remaining white wouldn't show through. I also added a square of fun foam to the back of his head for depth.

I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of paper and used the My Favorite Things Arched Elegant Stitch Stax die for it and the matting and die cut the Happy Birthday out of the darkest mountain color. After adding the sentiments and the turtle to the card front at the same time, to determine location,  I then secured both to the card front.  Lastly, I felt like it still needed a little more red, but not an overpowering bow!  So I added just a tiny 1/4" ribbon at the left fold and knotted it.  Then I took three 2" strips of ribbon and tied in the knot, then trimmed as needed to make a rounded frilly bow which completed the design.

Many thanks to The Paper Funday Challenge for having me as their Guest Designer for their July Challenge!

Home Run

Happy July 1st from Morgan's Artworld Creative Team!  We are posting today with another great group of inspirational cards using Morgan's images and opening the July Blog Challenge.  I do hope you will visit to see all the team member's cards and add yours in for the challenge too!

For my Design Team card, I've selected Morgan's 'Sport 13' image since Baseball is my favorite sport.

I went about this image a bit differently.  I sized the image to just over 4" tall and as normal, printed it on 110# Neenah cardstock.  I used my Copic markers for the coloring and have referenced them below.  After completing the coloring, I fussy cut him out leaving a tiny 1/8" boarder and set him to the side.

Then I went online in search of a digital background of the baseball diamond, baseball field, or some similar setting. After trying several, and a lot of sizing and resizing, I decided on this design.  I printed it in a 6" square size to allow space for moving the image around to the best position.  I also made the banner sentiment separately so I could match the background color.

I wanted to use a Kraft card base and settled on a 5" top fold.  I added a piece of green cardstock for the mat and trimmed the image down to 4 3/4" square.  The 'Sports 13' image fit perfectly across the home plate.

I added a layer of foam behind the sentiment and trimmed the ends, then secured across the right top corner.  Lastly I added the black twine and a baseball round top button to complete the Baseball Birthday Card.

Morgans – Be sure to visit Morgan’s ArtWorld (insert photo) for more images and to see the other Design Team cards. We’d love for you to join us in the monthly challenge!
