Apron Recipe Holder

Today I'd like to share one of the many projects we made during the Fall 'For Keeps Sake' Retreat this past September.

For this project, we used Unity Stamp Company's Secret Ingredient stamp set by Joslyn Nielson to make this cute Apron Recipe Holder.

Each of the ladies were given a package with a copy of the red card stock apron print, the dome die cut dotted paper, the heart shaped die with the sentiment and the stamped spatulas to decorate their pieces.  After decorating, they hot glued a mini clothes pin on the back to hold the recipe card and a ribbon loop on the top to hang the apron on a hook or cabinet knob.  

It was really amazing to see how many different variations the ladies came up with as they decorated their aprons.  I know there are many hanging in their kitchens today ~ as they fill their families needs with special recipes full of love prepared with caring hands.

Penny Black Deer In Christmas Tree

 Today I'd like to share an Eclipse card I made using the Penny Black Deer in a Tree, Christmas Die.  Most Eclipse cards are made using a simple three or four letter word, but after watching a recent youtube video about using your dies, I wanted to try using a Christmas die. This die happened to be one I'd ordered at the end of the season last year and had not gotten a chance to use.  It's a beautiful die but not too complicated.  Here's my finished card, then a few details about making it. 

I started by selecting the top printed paper, trimming it to fit the front of an A2 card base and then die cutting the image to the left edge of it.  I carefully set aside every piece of the die cut out and the background.  Next I repeated the die cut 6 times with white card stock and only kept the die cut tree and deer outline piece.  As I cut each one, I carefully used my book binding glue and stacked them on top of each other matching them exactly.  For the top layer, I added the printed olive green color.  

I carefully mounted the die cut background matted piece then added the stacked tree and reindeer piece.  Lastly, using tweezers, I glued and added each individual background piece inside the tree and around the reindeer to complete the design and not to leave any open spots. 

To complete the card I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of white card stock using coordinating olive ink and die cut the edges.  I added a couple of strips of foam tape to the back to raise it slightly and added it to the right side of the card. I really like the way this one turned out and think I'll make a few more for my stash!

My Most Amazing Friend

Today I 'd like to share the birthday card I sent to one of my most amazing friends for her special day.  I selected Whimsy Stamp's Penguin Baker from the Crissy Armstrong Collection. My friend Bonnie is an excellent baker so this image was just perfect for her!

I stamped the image on Neenah 110# card stock and used my Copic markers for coloring.  I used Gina Marie Designs Labels 2 die set to get the decorative edge.  I covered the A2 size white card base with a coordinating deep turquoise dotted swiss mat, then added the colored image.  I stamped the sentiment separately using Versafine ink and used the smallest die from the same set.  I used the same Copic marker as the apron color and carefully outlined the edge of the sentiment piece.  Then I added it to the card base followed by adding the burgundy enameled dots.

Happy Hauntings on Your New Home

Today I'd like to share a new release image from Polka Dot Orchard called Come On Over by artist Jeanie Hays.  This package comes with the house image and four sentiments and is currently on SALE!

I made this very special card for my brother and sister in law who have recently moved back to SC from Texas and closed on their new home last week.  What a perfect sentiment and timing to send to them!

To make this card, I sized the image to fit on an A2 sized card front and added the sentiment close to the roof.  I colored the house with my copic markers.  Next I took a circle die of Gina K's Magic Mask and masked the sentiment area.  I used antique linen Oxide ink to go around the masking circle to give it the glowing moon effect.  Then I used two shades of lavender oxides on the remainder of the background for a night time effect.  I added a black and gray liner before securing to the white card base.

Life May Not Be Perfect

Recently one of my creative clients asked me if I was ready for a new card challenge.  She always has some cool need for a card and wants me to design something unique for her.  Today's cards were no exception to that rule.

She needed two cards as thank yous for her Color Street Nail uplines. These ladies had made such a great impact in helping her start a new business. 

While we started out with nails, manicures, nail polish ideas...none seemed to fit her need.  Finally we decided that two Angie Girls dressed for fall would be perfect.

Inspired by the posting on Unity Show & Tell by Jayanthi Joseph, here's my version of her layout.

And inside both cards...

Needless to say, she was thrilled with these. 

While I made these sentiments on the computer, it's a great line for about any service - hair dresser, etc... or even make it masculine for your Lawn Service guy.  It has endless possibilities.

Touches Your Heart

I am thrilled to share with you another Christmas card as I continue to build my stash earlier this year for the holiday season.  I'm here today with Jan's Digi Stamps and have selected one of her Holly and Boo images for today's card posting.

It's the sweetest image!  

To make this card I started by sizing the image and sentiment to fit the standard A2 card base.   I honestly didn't like the size of it after printing and decided to enlarge to fit a 5 x 6 card base.  This allowed me more coloring space and ability to include more details like diamond Stickles on the snow peaks.

I used my Copic markers for coloring and the Gina Marie Designs Labels 3 for the die cut edge.  I covered the card base first with black and then slightly smaller with a gray with white dots paper.  Now it looks like gently falling snow and will be perfect for sending out this Christmas season

She is Clothed in Strength

Today I'm here with the Design Team from the international Corrosive Challenge Blog.  One of our sponsors for the month of October is Fabrika Fantasy.  

For my project card, I selected their Summer Fairy image. Here's my completed card, then a few details about making the card.

I started by sizing the image to fit an A2 card horizontally.  Placing her vertically doesn't allow room beside her for the sentiment, assuming you are using an A2 card base.  I printed the image on Neenah 110# card stock and used my Copic markers for coloring.  When done, I die cut the edges of the Penny Black's Elegant Stitching.   Next I used the Misti to hold the front of the card and allow me to stamp the scripture sentiment on the right side.  I secured the image to the purple mat, then tied the peach organza ribbon and bow to those two pieces.  Once secured then I added the image, mat, and bow to my orange card base. Lastly, I added Diamond Stickles to her necklace to complete the card.

Retreat ~ Projects and Treats

 For the fall 2020 'For Keeps Sake' Retreat, we selected a cooking theme - Memories are Homemade.  I'd like to share several of the projects and treats we gave out to the 19 ladies who attended.

We used Red and Aqua colors throughout the weekend.  Here's the gang in our retreat T-shirts with the red vintage mixer and aqua bowl.  Our shirts were made  at SpecialTee T-Shirt Shop in Batesburg, SC. 

Each morning the ladies found a gift at their work spaces.  Friday's was their chef hat along with a small 'mixing bowl' and mini whisk. The bowl was filled with tag embellishments and charms. 

Projects for Friday were an Apron Recipe holder than hangs on your cabinet door and a vintage covered cookbook made with a photo album.

We also had mini Cakes for our snack with a sprinkle bar to decorate your own cake!

Saturday's morning gift was a mini grater and more embellishments.   They also got a bag of Cheez-its with the Whimsy Swiss Dots Die and a cute tag.

Projects for the day were a Shaker card using the Gina Marie Cloth Top Jar die and a 3D Oven card.

The snack treat was a bag of pretzels with another cute tag!

Sunday's baking theme continued with the focus on Christmas. The ladies were greeted by this adorable standing Gingerbread man....

along with their morning gift - a dish towel, spatula and additional tags and embellishments.

The Christmas projects included an ornament and a Gingerbread scrapbook page.  

And the snack treat was of course  -  a Gingerbread man cookie with a House Mouse tag on it. 

We certainly had fun at Camp Kinard...

 and look forward to returning in the spring!

Spring Chickens?

 Today I'm here with 2 Crafty Critters Crazies Design Team.  Our October sponsor is Beccy's Place and I've selected Poultry in Motion for my project card.

Here's my completed card and then a few details.

This set comes in clear stamps and digital and has 3 images and 4 sentiments. Lots of fun
choices for your card creations!

I colored the image using my Copic markers and then used Gina Marie Designs Wonky Stitched Rectangle die for the edge.  I tied the brown twine at the bottom and added a red coordinating button. I used a Kraft A2 card base and covered it with an aqua patterned paper, then added the colored image to complete the card.
