For This Child We Have Prayed

About a month ago, I was asked to make a card for our ladies church group to use with our baby shower gift for our Pastor's daughter's first baby.  I knew they wanted lots of books for their new baby boy, but nothing was coming together just right.  Then I received the photo of the gifts that had been purchased.  Right there in the center was Baby's First Bible Stories and the cover was Noah's Ark. Why of course ~ a card with Noah's Ark!  And Whimsy Stamps has the perfect one!

Here's my finished card for the proud parents and a few details about making it.

The image is printed on Neenah 110# Card Stock, cut to 6 3/4" square. I used Copic* markers for coloring and Copic multi-liners.  The clouds are die cut using Gina Marie Designs, Stitched Sky dies and the Rainbow is die cut using Papertrey Ink, Rainbow Circles Die.   

I typed and printed the sentiment in several fonts and sizes until I found one that appealed to me, then trimmed closely and added a cranberry red mat and glued them in place at the bottom of the card. 

Next, I cut two pieces ~ 8" x 9", out of the navy paper to make the card base.  I folded the long end back 1" on opposite ends and on the side that will show, I trimmed with Fiskar Seagull fancy cut scissors. Then I glued these together to make it like a 'folder'. 

 I printed the sentiment 'For This Child We Have Prayed', and cut it down to about 7" square (centered) and glued to the inside right hand side of the card, for the ladies to sign. 

Of course I had to try it out in the frame to be sure it all fit together!  At the shower, the card went well with all the gifts the new soon to be parents received.  I'm sure they will find a special spot for Noah's Ark to watch over their new baby as they read him many stories from the Bible.

Have Yourself A Wonderful Winter

I wanted to share with you this morning the Christmas card I made from the Freebie given by Graciellie Designs earlier this week!

Such a beautiful design doesn't need a lot of fancy extras. Simple Copic coloring, the sentiment from the package, a gold liner mat with a plaid card base cover and a few enamel dots.

I'm here today with another Christmas card from my desk to share with you.    I've used the Whimsy /DoveArt Stamps, Christmas Horns. 

I used my Penny Black Elegant Stitching die for the image piece and used the "JOY" die from Pink and Main, Christmas Window Die set. The card is made on a 5 1/2" card base.  Next, I put the red plaid paper on the base and positioned the horns and the 'JOY' stitched die cut.

This is a great image to color and works up quickly into a nice card.   Thanks for stopping by too!

Fairies and Flowers for Your Birthday!

Slipping in another birthday card this morning, in the middle of the  month of Christmas cards. Today's card image is a Whimsy Stamp by Sylvia Zet, named Spring Bringer.

Sylvia Zet's fairy stamps are the first stamps that I colored from Whimsy... my addiction began!  

After Copic coloring, I used Gina Marie Designs Nested Label#2 Die ** set for both the image, matting, and also cut a much smaller one for the sentiment.  I used my Pink & Main's Stitched Rounded Rectangle die for the base die and added the Happy Birthday die to finish the card.

Oh Look at Those Legs!

Happy Birthday Princess!

One of the joys of my card making is trying to make my cards resemble the person they are going to.   When I came across this beautiful Prima Marketing stamp in my file, I knew I had found the perfect match for a birthday card I needed for today.  

Princess Maia,  with her long flowing hair and abundant flowers...what a nice image.

I used Copic markers for this image and then I cut an oval mat using the Gina Marie Design Petite Looped Lace Oval die . I used a 6" card base and added a solid base mat that measured 5 3/4" square.  Next I added coordinating washi tape across the middle, then added the decorative mat and image.  I finished the card with the addition of the Happy Birthday die.

Christmas Poinsettias and Pinecones

 The next Christmas card in my 2019 series comes from Graciellie Designs.  This beautiful spray of poinsettias and pine cones is in her digital stamp set named Merry Everything.

After printing the image and sentiment on Neenah 110# Card stock, I used Copic markers for coloring and the Tattered Lace Rectangle Nested Beaded Chain Dies for both the image and the matting.  I used a solid red card base and matching red enamel dots.

This was a fun image to color with lots of opportunities to shade and highlight. I love all the details presented and how crisp the print is.

Yesterday I finally made it through my stash of stamps to my Whimsy Stamp, Christmas Dreaming.  Crissy Armstrong really outdid herself once again on this adorable image. 

Here's the card I made with her image.

I stamped the image on Neenah 110# card stock and used Copic markers for coloring.  I used a 6" card base and a dark green matted background paper.  I trimmed around the candy cane, edge of wings and foot.  I used a 6" paper doily, trimmed the top edge and flipped it for a top edge.  I added the computer generated sentiment, two tiny pearls on the tips of the stocking feet, and a double loop organza bow. 

This is going to be one of those cards that will be hard to give away, it may just need to stay here with me.

A Season Full of Faith

It's Mixed Media Monday at Polka Dot Orchard, and I'm up today with a card I made using The Best Pumpkin, by designer Jeanie Hays.

Here is my finished card and a few of the details.

After laying out the image and the sentiment, I printed it on Neenah 110# card stock and I used Copic markers for coloring.  I used Gina Marie Designs Stud Dot Square Die set for the image and for the Aqua matting I used Tattered Lace Lacey Days Dies.  For the Mixed Media additions, I added an additional paper that has a burlap look with an aqua patterned corner print.  After positioning and gluing the layers on the card base, I added twine and a burlap flower and an enamel dot. 

This is a great card to send for early in the Christmas season just after Thanksgiving.  Everyone loves these beautiful pumpkins, no matter what time of the year!

When Simple Isn't Simple

If you follow my card making and/or you enjoy paper crafts, it's probably safe to say that you enjoy a crafting challenge also.  Some challenges are more fun than others. Like a sketch challenge~ I use to dread those!  But I finally got where I don't mind doing them at all.  

Unity {Show & Tell} Mini Challenges each week are seriously a great place to build any card maker's skill levels.  They are challenges for the beginners to the advanced all bundled together. The linked video's are always well put together, show you enough technique to start your card and then you are set to add your own flair.  And yet they can also add a twist sometimes that will hold you back from doing your normal techniques and throw you for a loop!  This is exactly what it should do.  That's what a challenge is all about, right? 

This is the challenge last week as an example.

This challenge is all about creating a card on a single layer-- that means no washi, no jewels, no paper layers-- this one is a challenge and it's so fun!

Simple and easy ~ until I want to die cut my image, and add a mat, and add a bow... Nope!  Can't do that!  See ~ it's a challenge to me! Kinda funny isn't it?  Here's what I submitted, on the Last Day!

Using O' Holy Blessed Night, by Tierra Jackson.

The image is colored with Copic markers, except the stars are done with a yellow metallic gel pen.  For the background I used Quick Quotes Chalking Inks and a finger dauber.
