Determination!

Probably my personal favorite scripture for encouragement is from Philippians 4:13...
As I worked with Stamping Bella's Hula Hoopers stamp set, that verse was heavy on my heart.  I hope you will enjoy the results.

Our daily lives are full of wishes and dreams all around us.   Some days we just don't even know where to start, or if we can even put one foot in front of the other.

But through our faith in God, we believe that His grace will see us through all trials and valleys.  We must be determined to stay strong in our walk, trust our Savior, and believe in Him to give us the strength we need.

It's not always an easy battle through the valley of sickness, sadness or other daily life peril.  But eventually joy does come to those who have faith.  And what glorious joy that is!

Thank you Sweet Jesus for never leaving or forsaking us!

Sandy Kisses

I'm starting off this week with a new stamp set (to me) from My Favorite Things, Beach Bear.   Everyone knows how I love the beach but this was my first 'polar bear' on the beach for sure.

I started by stamping the bear on the blanket and the umbrella separately, then coloring them with my Copic markers and hand cutting them out.  Since the card challenge was 'Beachside' I elected to only use one image from this large set of stamps.

Using a standard A2 card front, I glued the bear in the center and tucked the umbrella just behind him. Then I started at the bottom and added the tiny dots of tan shades to make the sand.  Next, working around the bear, I added several shades of blue for the water.  Then I worked from dark YG65 to light Y11 to achieve the shades of the sunrise.  Once completed, I returned this part to my Misti and added the sentiment stamp from the same set.

For the decorative edges, I used Gina Marie Designs, Labels Three for the image and for the coordinating orange mat.  For the card base I cut a coordinating aqua solid and put the fold to the left so that I could add the string and the fish charm.

Nursing School Cards

Today I'm sharing two Stamping Bella cards I recently completed in response to an earlier one I posted for a Nursing School student.

I must start by saying 'Thank you' to the great artist for giving us a male version of this image.  It's very obvious many are both proud and grateful for the people going through the schooling required for this career.  I'm thrilled to see they are also acknowledging them through these cards ~ what we as card makers know is a priceless gift.

Using the Stamping Bella Curvy Girl Nurse, here's the second one I made with this image, this one in a different layout.

And then the one using the Stamping Bella, Male Nurse image.  My customer requested blue jeans for her card. Great idea too!

Won't these nursing students be surprised! Such caring people to think to send these cards and such dedicated students working towards needed careers!

Both of my cards shown were colored with Copic markers and die cut using Gina Marie Designs Dies.

For the first card I used Pleated Lace Slimline Rectangle Die and the second I used Big and Little Chain Slimline die set. The sentiment was done on my computer and die cut with small tag dies.  The first card is a 5" x 6" card base and the second is a standard A2 size with a top fold.

May Every Sunrise Bring You Hope

Today I'd like to share a card I recently made using Northwoods Rubber Stamps, NO-090 cling set, 'Cattails, Birds & Water Silhouettes'.

This set has three images and three sentiments which gives you a lot of nice choices to design several variations.

I selected one of the larger images - with the lake scene.  After stamping it I used my Copic markers for coloring.  Even though it looks like just water and yellow/orange sky... for me the shading required 16 different markers.

When completed I trimmed the edges and matted it and the sentiment in a deep burnt orange solid cardstock.  I made the card base out of a coordinating blue cardstock and covered it with the slightly patterned yellow paper.  Next I secured the image, then the sentiment, slightly overlapping.  Lastly I added the triple wrap of twine at the fold and secured with a small single bow.

Covered in Birthday Wishes!

Today I'm sharing a birthday card I sent to a sweet friend for her special day 'today'.

I've used Stamping Bella's Courtney Loves Kitties, which was an easy choice as this is a typical photo of Debra sitting on her sofa and her lovely children joining her!

I stamped this image on Neenah 110# cardstock and used Copic markers for coloring.  The stitched and scalloped edging die is from Memory Box Wrapped Scalloped Rectangles Die set.

I couldn't just put a Happy Birthday sentiment on this card. This special crossing of paths in our lives from a simple card swap group, to tragically loosing a good mutual friend, to become co-admin for a site we held in great value for to finally meeting in person and becoming even closer in our friendship.  Yes, God has blessed this relationship into a true friendship ~ and I am grateful!

Happy Birthday Debra!  I truly treasure our friendship!

The Good Life

Happy Monday to you from Jan's Digital Stamp Shop as we bring you June's Challenge filled with new inspirational card designs.  We sure hope you will join us with adding your cards to the monthly blog challenge for your chance to win!

For today, I've selected 'The Good Life' to share with you.  This package is filled with several images of this little fisher boy and his dog along with 4 different sentiments.  I've selected the image that has both the dog and the boy.

I enlarged this image to just  under 4" tall and printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  As always, I used Copic markers for coloring and they are referenced at the end of my blog for you.

I wanted to create a scene for the boy and his dog, but I'm just not an artist.  So I started by adding the grassy area around them and then added the edge of the pond.  From there I moved to the top of my card and colored in the sunrise, skyline, and worked downward adding the rays to the water area and allowing the two to merge together. It's far from perfect but it gave a good effect of land across the pond with the rise or setting sun.

After trimming the image close to the colored edge, I added the black liner mat and then secured it to the card base.  Lastly I added the sentiment from the same package which I had printed and die cute with a double fishtail die.

Thanks for stopping by today to see what I've been working on.  Be sure to pop over to Jan's Challenge Blog and add your cards along with seeing what the other Design Team ladies have waiting for you to see.

You're One in a Gnome-million

This week at Polkadoodles the Design Team focus was directed towards 'Easel Cards'. With the recent release of all the cute Gnomes, I decided to pick one from that collection to use today.

I've selected the Retire & Snooze Gnome for Men package which includes the image, digital papers and sentiments.  I've also used the Woodland Door Die and the Celebrate Word Die.

Here's my completed easel card project...

I started by sizing the gnome image to about 2 1/2" tall and coloring him with Copic markers and set him aside.

I printed the tan stripe, green stripe, and blue dotted digital papers from this set. I traced the Woodland Door die onto the tan stripe paper and used the leave 'holes' to add the mushroom dots.   Those are colored in with Copic Y24 and Y23.  Using that same Woodland Door die, I cut the leaves part several more times to get the different shades of ivy and mushrooms to use on the left side of the card.

The green striped paper was used to make the strips of grass and also is under the easel fold - the area reserved for writing on the card.

I grabbed a scrap of metallic blue and die cut the 'Celebrate' word for the bottom border strip.

Assembly was just moving things around until they were appealing to my eye, as that is always a personal choice.  You might notice that there is a foam dot under his hat to raise that part up.  Once everything was secured including the sentiment which is also raised to hold the easel fold, then the last step was to add the glossy accents to the reading glasses.   I layed the card flat for about four hours after applying to be sure the layer was completely dry.

His Mercies

Happy Friday from the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog Design Team. As we kick off a new week we are excited to have Sheepski Designs as our sponsor!

For my project card I have selected their Daisy Panel image #182 and made a pastel slimline card with a scripture sentiment.

To make this card I enlarged the image to about 3" wide x 6" long, then printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  I used my Copic markers for coloring and have referenced them below for your coloring use.

The scripture sentiment came out of my 'bits & pieces stash'.  My little box is overflowing with pieces like this that I've done digitally and printed in two or three sizes.  It's really handy to have a few extras to choose from and not to have to stop and print one tiny one each time.

Next I secured the sentiment to the bottom right corner of the colored image, then trimmed close to the image on all sides.  I selected a solid yellow mat to pull out the flower center. Once everything was secure and dry then I added the light mint green cardstock for the slimline base, cutting it about 1/8 larger than the yellow mat on all four sides.  For the final touch I added three glass water droplets spaced randomly around the flowers.

Don't Be Afraid

I'm back again today ~ this time with Morgan's ArtWorld's Creative Team as we roll out June's Challenge blog and our sampling of some of Morgan's lovely images.

For my card this month, I'm using Tiger 1 Digital Stamp.

To make this card, I sized the tiger to about 3 1/2" square and used Copic markers for coloring.  I stamped the sentiment from My Creative Time, You Matter.

I used the Carnation Crafts Pretty Shabby Square Labels and die cut the edges for the completed tiger, the sentiment and the camo paper matting.  I also die cut the Acacia tree out of black to make the silhouette image in the background.

I selected a neutral 6" square card base and turned it so the fold was to the left. Then I began layering and securing the die cut pieces as shown in the photo. Lastly I added the twine spider webbing at the fold.  I love the effect this adds, especially to masculine cards.

My Grace....

Here we are this morning, rolling out a new month with the Crazy Critter Challenge for June, 2022!

With so many beautiful birds filling my yard and at my feeder, I thought I'd share a sweet bird card this month.  This digital image is by Graciellie Designs and the package is called 'Do Not Worry'.

After printing, I colored the image with Copic markers and used the Gina Marie Designs Labels Three for the decorative edge on the image and the yellow striped matting.  I cut a solid peach rectangle liner mat slightly larger than the image for contrast.

The A2 card base is a top fold, and once I got it put together it was still missing something.  If it had been on a side fold base I would have added a ribbon.  At this point I felt like a ribbon at the top would take away from the image and message. My solution was to use the coordinating scrap of blue and die cut the strip shown on the left.  It added the perfect pop of color to bring out the bird without taking away from the card's design and message.
