Cool in the Pool

Today I'm posting with the All Dressed Up Digital Stamp Design Team as we revisit this month's new images.  Check out all the design team post on the ADU Blog Challenge. 

For my project card, I selected Flamingo Splash  and made this summer pool party card that could be used for any occasion. 

After printing the image on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used my Copic markers for coloring. The image of this flamingo was fun to color in the traditional bright fuchsia shades, followed by the tiny little girl floating away with her ice cream cone! 

Then I started adding my own personal touch to the image.  Once I started adding the water around the float, I decided to make the area a pool versus an ocean or lake outside area.  I drew in the horizontal pool wall line for the water's edge and then another line about 1/2" above for the sidewalk edge.  From there I continued the scene upward with the many shades of a sunrise or sunset and adding a few darker clouds also.  

When the coloring was complete, I tried out several of my fence dies to find one small enough to work for the pool background area.  I settled on the Spellbinder, Wrought Iron Fence die. I cut several and trimmed a couple of pieces to fit around the images, then secured to the background of the image.

I trimmed up the rough edges, then double matted with black then orange and put aside. For the card base, I added a black matting and then a pink patterned matting. Once secured I added the completed image with mats to the card base and secured.  I added the Happy Birthday sentiment on the right bottom and the 'cool in the pool' bottle cap sentiment on the left side  and the die cut beach ball near the flamingo to complete the card design.
