What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 348

I'm checking in with all the ladies from Stamping Ground and Julia's Blog for WOYWD #348.  Be sure to see the other great ideas and creations posted.

After a long work day for me
and more heavy rains here in South Carolina,
I'm finally settled at my craft table pulling out stamps
and coordinating inks and papers for a sympathy card.

Turned out to be a good, simple design pattern that I
believe I'll repeat for future uses.

DIY Bow Maker

Today's Blog posting is a review of a previous tutorial on how to make your own Bow Maker out of a wooden Cribbage board or similar wooden pegged game board.

This little technique will have you making the perfect little small bows every time for your cards and scrapbook pages.

First, grab that old Cribbage board out of the game closet and saw it in half or go to the Dollar Tree and get a
wooden pegged game board.
You need the wood to be approximately 6 to 8" long.

The placement of the pegs determines the size of your bow,
so you'll have to play around to get the size you need.
Most cards use a bow about 1 to 1 1/2" wide,
so space your pegs about that far apart.

Next start with your ribbon on the left side, wrap around the left peg, then the right peg and cross over the top of the ribbon.

Then thread the right piece up and over the center, then under the bottom, bringing it back down to the bottom again.

Now very carefully, tie your knot, being sure you get it
"In the Center" of your two loops.

Once it's tight, then you can remove the pegs and straighten the bow loops a bit, flip it over and look at your pretty little bow!

All ready to add to your next cute card!

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 347

Good Morning from a rainy day in South Carolina!

I'm starting my day by sharing what I'm working on this morning and hope that you will hop over to see Julia at Stamping Ground and the other lady's posting for their week 347 entries.

I've been doing a lot of reorganizing and downsizing here with anticipation of the market picking up and my home selling soon.
{side note: Know anyone wanting to move to SC?}

So as a little relaxation,
I cut out my craft room furniture to see how it is going to fit in my new space when I move.
I actually think it's going to work!  YAY!!!

Next on my list today, is to work on a couple of special effects photos of local churches, making them into note card sets to sell at the local Center for the Arts.

Hope they are a hit!

Pray Continously

This morning I'd like to share week 4 of my
Bible Journal

The scripture references are:
Philippians 4:6
Colossians 4:2
1 Thessalonians 5:17.

How blessed my Monday morning has been reading these words of my heavenly father, reminding me to pray continuously, to be thankful in all things, to learn the lesson in times when things don't seem to be going right, and to give thanks in all circumstances.
All set for a GREAT week!

As For Me And My House

JOSHUA 24:15

It's an unusual day here in South Carolina ~
January 23, 2016 and we woke to a dusting of snow!

While our family and friends to the north are measuring the
accumulations with yardsticks today,
we are perfectly content that by noon,
the sun will be out and the remains of the snow
will have disappeared.

Knowing our winter mix wouldn't last long and loving to
incorporate  my photography work into my cards
I set out just after daylight with camera in hand
to capture a few scenes from around the
yard and neighborhood.

This turned out to be my favorite shot -
a little weathered bird house blowing in the wind.

My thoughts immediately went to the scripture,
Joshua 24:15
As for me and my House, we will serve the Lord.
How about you?  With the influences of the world today
do you proudly stand strong in your faith in
Jesus Christ?  No matter what the storm is in
your life, God is there for you. He is waiting
for you to call on Him.

Be sure to hop over to Word Art Wednesday to view many more Christian based inspiration cards.

DIY Enamel Flat Back Embellishments

Here's another do it yourself project ~

You can easily make your own flat black enamel for your cards.

Craft Beads (or sometimes called Pony Tail Beads)
can be found at your craft store, Walmart or sometimes
like this bucket...at the thrift store for $1.

Line your largest cookie sheet with parchment paper and set the beads up across the pan.  Don't let them touch - give them about 1/2" spacing between each one.
Bake in a 400 degree oven for ~12 minutes.

These are the glow in the dark kind
(like we are going to take our cards in the dark to see if they glow!)

They cool almost immediately and slide right off allowing you to reuse the parchment paper for the next batch.

WOYWD #364

Today is a 'work' day on my desk, not a crafting day unfortunately.  I am very blessed to market my destashing efforts
along with the remaining inventory from my Scrapbooking
store of ten plus years.
I'd love for you to stop by my online store sometime - message me for the details.

While I had my local business, I never thought about online selling and looking back wonder if it was as popular then as it is now?  This outlet for the last three plus years after my early retirement has really helped me downsize and opened the doors to
so many new beautiful virtual friends.

First let me show you my accomplishment this week.  The closet here in my craft room was full of my photography props (my other job)....so everything was removed, repacked, and the right side made into a storage area for all the shipping supplies.

Today's desk space is my wrapping table... for package, after package, after package...

Ensuring that each label is stamped with a scripture,
spreading God's word every chance I'm given.

And not only am I sending a lot out today ~
I was very pleased to get some Happy Mail myself this week!

Have you sent a card to someone lately?

You Are More Beautiful

My passion for Unity stamps is HUGE!

I made this gate-fold card
for our newest family member's birthday.

Love the diversity of the stamp for encouragement.

Bible Journaling ~ 2016

Last year I began following one of the Facebook Sites
(Hide His Word in My HeART)
and was very blessed to have completed all 52 weeks
of scripture study and art journaling.
I am not an artist, but love incorporating my
stamps and digital images for my pages.
Please join me in my 2016 journey of
selected scriptures and artwork .

This year I selected a mini 3 ring binder with sheet protectors.
I found that last year's spiral bound art book became
extremely full and difficult to turn the pages.
My cover is from one of my adult coloring book pages.

Week 1 ~ 1 Corinthians 15:58

Week 2 ~ Matthew 28: 16-20

Week 3 ~ Seven selected scriptures:
Romans 1:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8,
Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9, Romans 10:13
and Acts 2:38
