Life is Better With Friends

We never know until it happens, who God has planned for our life paths to cross with.  Some people we meet are merely a shadow passing us, others are briefly part of our lives and a special few impact our lives and remain while our friendships grow stronger.  I'm sure you know the last group are your blessings, your treasured friendships, the ones you are grateful for.

Yesterday was one of my treasured friend's birthday and this is the card I made for her.  I used the digital Hibiscus image from Beccy's Place along with one of the sentiments from the same package.

After positioning the sentiment and sizing the image I printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  My favorite part, I colored the image with Copic markers.   When completed I used the Labels 6 Cloud Like Edged Nested Die Set to make the decorative edge, then set this aside.

I used a standard A2 size card base and added the dark green leaf patterned paper matting to the front.  For the next layer I used black cardstock and the Altnew Luxurious Motifs 3D Embossing Folder.  I highlighted the top of the embossing with an Altenew gold pigment ink pad.  Next I secured a layer of foam behind the embossed cardstock.

Before adding the image to the embossed cardstock, I wanted to tie in the gold ink.  I used a Q-tip and lightly dotted the ink randomly around the Hibiscus.  I knew a ribbon would take away from the image, but at this point I wanted something to balance the left side.  I used one of my favorite rolls of washi tape (because of the vertical design) and ran it around the embossing piece from top to bottom and along the edge of the colored image. Lastly I secured these two layers to the center of the card base and over the green matting to complete my card design.

Happy Birthday Kathy!

I hope yesterday was a FABULOUS day that will continue throughout the year!

Thank you for stopping by to see what's on my desk. Come back soon!

Sunflower Harvest

Today I am posting with the Word Art Wednesday Design Team and we're using the second free scripture for February in our card designs.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Stix 2 Anything.

You can save your free image of the scripture Psalm 27:13 by visiting the Word Art Wednesday blogsite.  I hope you'll enter your cards there also for a chance at the sponsor's prizes.

Here's my finished card using the scripture with Deep Red Stamps, 'Sunflower Harvest'.

After stamping the image I used Copic markers for coloring and double matted with the dark green and sky blue.  I secured each layer to the burgundy card base.

I printed the scripture after sizing to fit my card design, then die cut and added it near the bottom right.  Lastly I added the two tiny black enamel dots on the edges of the sentiment.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I've been working on.  Have a very blessed day!

Have A Farm-tastic Day!

Today I'm again posting with the All Dressed Up Design Team as we bring you our cards with the new images for February.

I'm using the new  Spring Hugs and have made a scenic card for having a 'Farm-tastic Day!'

I started by sizing the image to just under 3" and coloring with Copic markers.  After fussy cutting this cutie and her animals out, I laid it aside to work on the background.

I incorporated several additional dies to make the background.  For the green 'grass' paper, I used the Penny Black, Curved Stitch die then added the tree print behind it to the card front and secured to the yellow matting paper.
Next I used an old Farm Silhouette die with black cardstock.  I cut the horses away from the rest of the die and then secured each piece to the background.  The yellow sunshine die is from Gina Marie Designs, Sky die package.  Lastly the sentiment was computer generated and die cut using Spellbinders Label 5 die.  The edges are inked and the sentiment was raised with adhesive foam.

Thank you for stopping by today to see what I've made.  I invite you to hop over to the All Dressed Up Blog posting to see the other Design Team cards and to enter your card using one of the ADU images.

Blessed Ballerina

I'm back this afternoon to share with the Design Team from All Dressed Up Digital Stamps.

For my team card, I selected their Prima Ballerina image and this is my finished card.

I printed the image on a digital background with a light peach tint and lacey flower in white.  I used Copic markers for my coloring.  Then I die cut the completed image with Anna Griffin, Shop at Home 2 Frame Dies and mounted on a darker peach cardstock followed by the coordinating aqua cardstock.

Next I mounted those layers on the card base and then added the three silk flowers along with the sprigs of rust cardstock, in the bottom right corner.  Then to finish the card, I added the die cut 'blessed' in the center top above the ballerina.

Be sure to check out all the other Design Team cards at the All Dressed Up Challenge Blog and enter your cards using ADU images.

Thank you for stopping by today.  See you next time.

Birthday Roses

Today I'm posting with the Design Team from the Classic Design Challenge as we open the February Blog today.  Our lovely sponsor for this month is  Patties Creations.  Be sure to check out all her designs, they are super cute.

For my project card, I selected Patties' Roses in a Milk Jug digital image and made this birthday card.

After sizing the image and printing, I used Copic markers for the coloring.  I added a lacy stamp at the bottom to ground the image from Sweet 'n Sassy's Decorative Frame Toppers.

The image and matting were then cut using Spellbinders Fluted Classic Rectangles die set.  After assembling the layers, I added the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment and the clear water droplets.  I finished the card with a burgundy organza ribbon and bow.

Thanks for stopping by today. See you next time.

Sons of God

Today I'm happy to share with you that I have joined the Design Team for Word Art Wednesday Challenge.  If you aren't familiar with this blog publication, I'd love for you to pop over and check it out.  I've enjoyed the free scriptures of this twice monthly publication for years.  It's truly an honor to join this talented team of card making artist.

Today's scripture is 1 John 3:1a and our sponsor for this publication is Stamps of Life.  For my design, I selected Penny Black's Daddy's Shoes stamp.

I think all of us who have had children, have a memory similar to this image.  It's such a sweet reminder of them wanting to be 'just like Dad' or 'just like Mom'.  This verse reflects the incredible love God has for us to allow us to be called 'sons of God'.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Be sure to check out all the other Design Team cards using this scripture on today's publication of Word Art Wednesday

Heartfelt Sympathy

Today I'm sharing a sympathy card I recently made using Altenew's, Scalloped Flowers 3D Embossing Folders.

I used Copic markers to color the images and then added stamped the sentiment. The completed image was then mounted on a pink patterned cardstock and added to the 6" square card base.

All that Jazz

Today I'm sharing a special guy's birthday card who turned 40 yesterday!  It blows my mind that my nephew has reached this milestone age.

He's a great musician so I selected this old hound dog Phil from Beccy's Place, All That Jazz.

After coloring I added a couple of shades of distressed oxides around the image and stenciled music notes using a stencil from Creative Works.   Of course the die cut '40' was the final touch for the card front.

Inside I found a banner die that fit the sentiment while allowing it to have a little flair across the card.  Always fun to use some of our supplies that we've had a while.

Thanks for stopping to see what I've been working on this week.

Delicate Blooms

Recently I purchased the Bird and Blossom digital set from Beccy's Place.  As soon as I started coloring the flowers I loved the set even more!

So.. I made three instead of one!

This one I did in shades of red and added the loopy gold thread behind the birthday sentiment.

The next one I colored in shades of pink with a simple pink organza ribbon and birthday sentiment.

And the last one I made with shades of peach, and made a special sympathy card.

If you look closely you can see that after I completed the coloring, I ran the image through in the Stampin' Up Subtle Dynamic 3D Embossing Folder.  It adds a wonderful textured look to the card fronts.

You know you will probably see this image again and again.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I've been working on.
See you soon!

Winter Birthday Fun

Classic Design Challenge for December with our sponsor Sheepski Designs.  Our optional theme is Winter Fun for this month's challenge.

For my project card, I selected their Snowmen Selfies Image Number 100.

This was a fabulous image to color with my Copic markers.  I used Spellbinder, A2 Fancy Postage Edge Die for the decorative edge.   I used a 5" x 6" card base and covered the front with the blue snowflake paper.  Then I die cut just the end of the same die with pink cardstock and secured it over the 'white space' above the image.  Lastly I added the Happy Birthday fishtail tag in the pink area and added a tiny blue bling dot to complete the card design.

Thank you for stopping by to see my card creation today.  Be sure to visit the Classic Design Challenge to see the other Design Team cards and enter yours also!
