Tissue Paper Cards

{Second card}

Several days ago I received a wonderful handmade book by my friend Ginny at
It was wrapped in black and white toile,
something I sure couldn't toss in the trash!
So to the crafting table we go...
I trimmed around the designs, then using a glue stick,
put the patterns onto (another cost savings)...blank index cards.

I colored some with my Copics and some with colored pencils.

Then grabbed several framed dies and look at the assortment
I ended up with!

Next I selected the week #217 Scripture from Word Art Wednesday to use on my card,
rewrote it to fit my card design, and here's my finished card.

Calendar Card #1

One of my favorite Christmas gifts each year  from my brother and sister-in-law is a Lane Calendar.  After enjoying it in my kitchen all year, I carefully cut it apart for future cards and embellishments.

I usually make them with scripture, and keep them generic enough that I can use them throughout the year as needs arise.

I hope to share many of these with you throughout the year.

What's On Your Work Desk #345

It's midweek and I've spent two mornings this week
in doctor's offices just for routine checkups and
follow up appointments.
I have been thinking this afternoon, how very blessed I am to
have several different doctors who I truly
consider my friends.  Those long term relationships
have to be built on trust and that in itself isn't always easy.

So today I wanted to create a birthday card
for one of those special doctors.
No matter how many times over the years I've
said thank you to him, he has always replied,
"to God be the Glory in all that I do".
Yep, he's a pretty special guy!

So here's my messy work desk this afternoon
as I pull out my paint chips
to make a masculine birthday card,

and here's the finished card,
using a scrap of paper
with a tape measure on it peaking through the windows.
I decided a knotted ribbon would be more appropriate than a bow.

One of my photo's sits in the background,
reminding me God provides every day!
.

Blessings for your week ~ Pam

Hope over to Julia's for more WOYWD postings.

It's All About the Belly!

I found this adorable stamp set and thought
the tummy would be a cute place to add
some small hearts and make my first shaker card.
After all....
not all shaker cards have to be round or square, right?

I started with the stamped image and used a Exacto knife to
trim as close as I could to the inside stamp lines.

Then using the smallest foam squares I could find,
I made my tiny circle on the card base
and filled it with just a few confetti hearts.

After coloring with Copic markers, assembly was easy;
and a hot pink metallic stretch tie finished it off.

Wishing Suzanne many special blessings with the upcoming birth of her daughter in April.

What's On Your Work Desk

Over the past year, I've enjoyed many of the blog postings by Ginny at Maxum Made Studio, two of which have especially peaked my interest to follow.
This week I'm making my first submission to
What's On Your Work Desk through Julia at Stamping Ground.

I often wonder if we are similar in no matter how large our desks and work areas are, we end up in an 8 x 8 working space!
The card I'm working on today is for a challenge using a doily.  I decided to incorporate one of my Julie Nutting Paper Dolls, Candie, into this over sized card.

After coloring using Copic markers, I then  stamped and cut the dress out of heart paper.  I trimmed a doily to make her skirt and
also added small pieces to her sleeves.
Of course ever doll needs pearls!
I didn't want a distracting background for her, so a couple of Spellbinders Garden Weave dies
and a sentiment made her complete.
Life does give us many reasons to smile.

Secret Sister Reveal

This week I'm preparing a new card for my church's Secret Sister Reveal party.  While I have no clue who my secret sister is, I'm willing to bet my partner knows 'me' because of my handmade cards that she has received over the past year.

For my design I wanted to incorporate Luke 11:33.

Starting with my digital design and adding the cover words...

I used a Tim Holtz stencil, Stampin Up Creamy Caramel and CTMH Sunflower to add the sunshine rays.

I had seen a posting on Christian Card Makers by my friend Angela, using the off set card base design.... just the inspiration I needed to pull it all together!

My 2015 Secret Sister shines brightly with her love of our Lord.  What a blessing it has been to have kept her in my heart all year.

How to Make Your Own Distressing Blocks

Being an avid crafter tends to take you down the trail of not throwing things away.  There is always a re-purpose idea just waiting to be created.  Thus was the case when I decided to make my own Distressing Blocks.

Here's what you'll need to create your set:

Wooden blocks (about 1 1/2" to 2" square)
Double sided foam tape
Velcro (you only use the loop side, other side is not needed)
E6000 glue
White felt

Decide how many stamp pads that you want to have blocks designated for.  I went with the ones I tend to use the most.  That would be the number of wooden blocks you want to start with.  They should be about 1 1/2 to 2" square.

Start by adding the double sided foam tape to each block.  To ensure a good hold, then add E6000 (or other strong glue) to the top of the foam tape and add Velcro on top (loop side up).  Hold each one together to allow the glue to dry before moving to the next one.

Next cut strips of the white felt the same width as the velcro and then to the same length as the wooden blocks.

Using felt instead of the purchased pads is a great tip that I got from Jennifer Evers of Koala T Crafts and Youtube

I've really enjoyed my Re-Purposed blocks and hope you'll make a set to match your favorite inks.

Happy Crafting!
