Paper Pieced Birthday Wishes

Today I'd like to share with you the birthday card I made for my Bonus daughter.  Wait - You do know what a Bonus daughter is, don't you?  Technically she is my step daughter, but since I'm no longer married to her father, it is her choice to continue to be a part of my life.  How blessed I am that she has always been active in my life and we continue to have a wonderful relationship.

For her card this year, I selected Unity Stamps Angie Girls, Kara and Melissa.  Here's her completed card followed by a how I made it.

This stamp set comes with the two girls 'connected' on one stamp.  I masked off the second girl and stamped the first on the edge of my card stock.   Next I put a strip of the polka dotted paper that is her shirt in my Misti and stamped the image again.  I repeated this with the blue denim paper also.

I fussy cut the top and pants out  and set them aside.   I used my Copic markers for coloring the rest of the image and added the flowers at her feet on the original card stock.  I used the Penny Black Elegant Stitching Rectangle die to make the pretty edge on the colored piece.

Next I glued the jeans in place and the shirt on top taking care to be sure the were lined up correctly. I cut a coordinating blue liner mat and then a darker pink larger mat.  I layered each of these onto the A2 card base.  Once secured, I returned the card to my Misti and stamped the sentiment with VersaFine ink.

Paper piecing takes a little longer but really can give a unique look to your cards.  I hope you'll give it a try soon.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to “Follow” my blog and to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards.
