Spring Retreat ~ Envelope Challenge

One of my favorite challenges on Addicted to Card Making, is the monthly Envelope Challenge....which is NOT an envelope!
Each person is given an 'envelope' with the same supplies.  The rules of the challenge are they must use some of all of the items and can add up to two items from their own supplies.
For the retreat, I allowed the not to use all the items but to get extra tickets if they did; and also they were allowed to add two items. They did a great job creating both cards, embellishments and pages for their scrapbooks.
I hope you will enjoy THEIR creativity today!

Such a great example again of how we each see things differently and should allow our God given talents to bloom!

This is a great group project idea if you are ever hosting a retreat or workshop!

Thanks for stopping by!

For Keeps Sake Spring Retreat ~ April 2018

In today's blog, I'd like to share with you about the great retreat our group had this past weekend.  We all love this is our remotely hidden church camp near Batesburg, SC where the director and his wife have become part of our family.

The theme was Oh Shoot! I Missed that Shot...
Most of the games were directed towards taking photos and the importance of including ourselves.

The photo booth was a great hit throughout the weekend...

Getting Framed ~

The T-shirts were made by The Special Tee Shop, a locally owned business.
The Goodie Bags were packaged in a collapsible box which will be used for trash while crafting and folds to fit nicely in their bags.  Each bag had a customized laminated tag attached to the handle.

The souvenir note pad was vote the most favorite item in the bag of goodies.
And of course there were lots of prizes throughout the weekend.

We all again enjoyed our devotional time on Sunday after breakfast which was led by the director.

By now I know you are thinking - did they do any work?  Amazingly we all did get a lot accomplished!  Among all the laughter, making new friends, catching up with old friends, lots of  pages of scrapbook memories and quite a few customized greeting cards were completed.  Tomorrow's blog will show you one of the projects also.

And as all good times with girlfriends  ~ it ended too soon!
But we're all looking forward to coming back for the Fall Retreat in September.

I Love You More Than Ice Cream

I can't wait to tell you about this past weekend's crafting retreat, but first I want to share my current entry in the Unity {Show & Tell} Sketch Challenge.

I'm not a big fan of sketch designs and rarely use them so they are truly a challenge for me as a card maker.  Here's my entry and following is a few details about what I used to make it.

I love this cute Ice Cream Truck stamp by Unity's designer Tracey Malnofski.  I colored it with Copic markers in the shades of sherbet ice cream.  The die is a Spellbinders, Label 37.  I had picked up the embossing folder from Michael's craft store, looks like it was just made to go with this stamp.

One of my favorite 'tricks' with buttons is to cut a very thin strip of paper and thread through for the 'thread'.  Simply cross over the back ends and place a glue dot, and it's ready to apply to the card. This eliminates the frustration of threading a needle after a search for the right shade of thread and is fast and easy! My kind of trick!

Then just a bit of washi tape per the sketch and the three buttons were added.  The matted sentiment is die cut using Gina Marie X- Stitched Rectangles to finish the card.

Here is the original inspirational sketch if you'd like to try one yourself:

I hope you'll pop over to Unity and check out the current challenge and see all the different entries!
Thanks for stopping by today to view my entry.

Inspired by the Cool Cat

For today's card I selected the Unity Stamp set
Kitty On the Go, by designer Angie Blom.

There is current a challenge on the Unity {Show & Tell} Facebook page with an 'Inspirational Photo' as our only direction.  I'm sure there will be a wide variety of entries!

Here's my card that I will be submitting and then I'll briefly tell you why.

The inspirational photo used shades of aqua, peach and gray, showed a bicycle, a bouquet of flowers and a brick wall. I love the color combination, which was easy enough to incorporate into my card.  I selected this Kitty on the go set because the photo gave me the feeling of a nice cool ride on the beach path or down to the farmers market to get fresh flowers.  But like every day dream, we always must be aware of the road blocks and pot holes that are in our way.  This cool cat image with his 'goggles' just seemed to be the perfect protection to keep the recipient safe, especially from all those cake candles!

Thank you for stopping by today - Hope you enjoyed my silly story of inspiration for my entry into this challenge.

Too Beautiful For Earth

Finding the right words during the sudden death of a loved one is often very hard.  If that loved one is a child or baby our hearts are broken and words are even harder to outwardly express our feelings. And taking that one step farther - knowing during your pregnancy that your unborn baby will not survive but maybe a few minutes or a few hours... How can you possibly prepare?

What a wonderful and thoughtful image and message Phyllis Harris Designs has given us with her stamp set through Unity Stamps, Too Beautiful For Earth.

We know through our faith that we will be joined again.
May we always be grateful for the time that we are allowed to have our children here on the earth.

Thank you for stopping by today and following my work.
