Dahlia Maiden

Today I'll be posting twice with different design teams, so watch for me to be back later this afternoon.  But this morning I'm here with the Design Team from the Classic Design Challenge blog as we open the September/October blog challenge.  As always our challenges are anything goes with an optional twist.  For this month the optional twist is add a tree(s) or leaves.

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is Moondrea Designs.  If you haven't check our their images you need too as they are so pretty!

For my Design Team card, I selected their image, 'Dahlia Maiden' and made this card adding three leaves on the right edge.

I sized the image for a 5 x 7 card so that I would have room to color the beautiful folds in the gown and many locks of her hair.  I used Copic markers for the coloring and they are referenced below.  I cut a gray liner mat and then the wider  mat behind her is a very unique paper  - as it was from a National Geographic and was processed using Citrosolve to get the patterned design.

Both pieces were die cut using the My Favorite Things Elegant Rectangle Stax Die set.   I secured the image and liner mat first then centered and secured the patterned mat to the kraft card base.  After arranging the three leaves on the side and lightly glueing, I added the image over the edge of the leaves and secured to the card base.  Then I secured the final three paper flowers over the edge of the image and leaves to complete the design.

I hope you will visit the Classic Design Challenge to see the other Design Team cards and to enter your cards for a chance to win!  Thanks for stopping by here to see what I've been coloring.
