Beautiful Memories

Today I'm sharing another birthday card I recently made with a new stamp from Altenew.

This delicate oval shaped arrangement of flowers is named  Sentimental Florals.

After stamping the image and the sentiment in the center, I used Copic markers for coloring, following the July Altenew Inspirational Challenge color suggestions of pink, yellow and orange.

Then I selected those same colors in solid cardstock and used an oval nesting die set to make the triple ascending mats.  I found a background leaf patterned paper with a similar leaf pattern to the stamped leaves to use for the background matting and secured it to the card base.  Then I added each of the layers as shown then in the photo.  Once those were secured, I used a heavy gold thread and wrapped it around the card front.  I made a loopy bow and added it at the knot of the gold thread to complete the card design.

Party Time!

Happy Monday and Happy Birthday to another July birthday girlfriend!

For today's card I've used Sheepski's Design, Party Animal.

I colored the image with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment with Blue Belle Versa Clair ink.   After die cutting both pieces, I secured them on the confetti background paper.  Then I added this to the Kraft card base, added the organza ribbon at the fold and finished the design with adding the party brad at the knot.

Happy Birthday Sadie!  Hope you have a Fantastic Day!

I Will Always Believe in You

I hope you've been following each month as we've watched Baby Olivia celebrate her 'monthly birthday'.  Each month has been a different Disney princess, different dress made by her great grandmother and a special photo shoot by her grandmother.

This month's focus is Disney Princesses Elsa and Anna.  Her grandmother and I decided on one card with both of them for Olivia's keepsake card celebrating her 10 month birthday.

To make this card, I sized the image to about 3" tall, typed the 2 sentiments in a separate area of my layout page, and then printed these on 110# Neenah cardstock.

For the Princesses, I used my Copic markers for the coloring and have referenced the colors at the bottom for your reference. I fussy cut the completed image out and inked the edge with Copic C4 to ensure all the white edges were covered.  I added the aqua bling to Princess Anna's headband and added the white and sparkly snowflake embellishments to the bottom edge of the dress and to the headband of Princess Elsa. Those sparkles really made the images come to life!

For the background I searched the internet for free Frozen digital backgrounds, specifically for images with steps or places for the girls to 'sit'.  This one was exactly what I wanted with the castle in the background and the colors that coordinated well with the colors of their dresses.

After sizing the image to about 5 1/4" square, and printing it also on Neenah cardstock, I trimmed it leaving a 1/4" white border.  I selected a deep purple cardstock and made the top fold card base.  I used a couple of random die cuts for the two sentiments, based on where I wanted them to fit.  Next I placed a strip of fun foam behind the heads of the two girls, then secured the image about 1/4" from the top fold.  Then I added the sentiment at the top of the image and overlapped the oval sentiment at the bottom that documents Olivia's name and which birthday month the card is for.  Lastly I added the white organza ribbon at the fold and secured the snowflake embellishment on top of the knot.

This one has to be one of my favorites of the ten I've done for Baby Olivia.  Here's her photos for this month also - what a cutie she continues to be!

To a Special Friend

Today's birthday card was made for one of my 'hometown' girlfriends using Pinkfresh Studio's Folk Hummingbird stamp set.

After stamping the image, I used my Copic markers for coloring.  I stamped the sentiment using Monarch Versa Clair ink, and then used the My Favorite Things, Elegant Rectangle Stax die for cutting the decorative edge.  I used Copic B06 to ink the die cut edge on the completed image.

I covered the A2 card base with the purple polka dot embossed card stock, then secured the image slightly to the right of center.  I added the blue organza ribbon the side fold and then secured the wooden 'love' heart on top of the knot to complete the design.

Until We Fish Again...

Today I'm sharing a special sympathy card I made for our 94 year old neighbor, Mr. Frank who passed away on Sunday.

For his memory card to his family I selected Penny Black's Dropping You a Line.

After stamping the image on 110# Neenah cardstock, I also stamped the shirt part of the image on a scrap of blue plaid for paper piecing.

I used Copic markers for the coloring, then secured the plaid shirt in place.  The sentiment was computer generated and all the pieces were die cut using Pink & Main's Stitched Rounded Rectangle dies.

I used a Kraft card base cut 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" and then cut the blue mat a half inch smaller.  After securing it to the card base, I added the other layers as shown.  I used a black heavy thread at the top fold, wrapping three times and adding a fish hook charm at the knot along with a few loopy strands.

May You Never Outgrow Bubbles

Today I'm posting with the All Dressed Up Digital Stamps Design Team as we share more inspirational cards with this month's new images.

For my project card, I used Bubbles to make this top fold birthday card.

For this card, I actually started with the bubble background paper.    After printing the image, I used Copic markers for coloring, using the same base colors that are in the bubbles.

I used a miscellaneous frame stamp with Monarch Versa Fine Clair ink to give the completed image a framed border, then trimmed close to that edge.

I used a top fold navy blue card base and trimmed the bubble paper to fit as the mat.  I stamped the sentiment with the same Monarch ink from Stamping Bella's Bubble Chicks and die cut it with a stitched fish tail tag die.

I secured the image near the top at an angle and then added the organza ribbon around the bottom with the bow on the left.  I added a strip of fun foam behind the sentiment, then secured it on top of the ribbon to complete the design.

This Too Shall Pass

Today's card is from Woodware Clear Stamps and is called Nautical Collage.

I needed a masculine card for a family member who had recently gone through a difficult surgery and I really struggled with what image to use.

Although his career kept him on the road a lot, his home is near the ocean and that is where he has retired.  We decided this would be the right image for sending our thoughts and prayers for his speedy recovery.

After stamping the image, I used Copic markers for the coloring.  I colored the background using Copic BG000 yet there wasn't a defined line for the edges.

I added several layers of hunter green and also a piece of red netting right under the image, making sure it showed on each side.  Each layer was secured to the mint green card base. I added a strip of washi tape at the top and bottom of the image to finish the edges, then added the red twine at the fold with the star fish charm at the knot.

Friends Like Us

July is just a busy birthday month!  Monday (15th) I actually had three close girlfriends who all shared their special day.    This fun one is from Di's Digital StampsBee Mice and Hoppy.

I started by sizing the image to about 3" tall and then used Copic markers for the coloring.  I stamped the sentiment from the My Favorite Things, Friends Like Us set.

I selected a solid green cardstock for the matting and used the Gina Marie Designs Venetian Label Dies.  After covering the 6" card base with the patterned paper, then I secured the matted image and matted sentiment.

Happy Birthday Wishes to Evie!

Hope your day was Marvelous!

Sending Love and Hugs

This afternoon I'm back, this time with the Design Team for All Dressed Up Digital Stamps as we open the July challenge.

For my project card, I selected Potted Plants both because she is just the sweetest, and I love the little kitten in the pot at her feet.

Here's my completed card and then how I made it for your reference.

I started with the image and sized her to about 3" tall, then printed her on 110# Neenah cardstock and used Copic markers for coloring.  That was the FUN part!  Coloring is my joy!  I used the Gemini Torn Edge Oval 2 die set to get the decorative edge shown, then set her aside.

For the background I used the Altenew Daisy Bed 3D Embossing Folder and the blackout technique - except I didn't use black of course.  For the daisies I used Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, and Brushed Corduroy.  Then I inked the flat sections with Memento Tangelo ink which filled in all the white spaces.  I trimmed the edges and mounted on the brown cardstock and then the 6" card base with the fold at the top.

I added the 1/2" strip of deep aqua across the lower third of the card front and then secured the colored image to the left side.  I used Simon Says Stamps, Beautiful Flowers, Love and Hugs sentiment and embossed it on the aqua strip beside the colored image.

Next I matched the aqua ribbon to the strip and added it at the top fold, along with the white ribbon flower I found.  I love that the center of the flower also matched perfectly.  Once the flower was secured at the knot and the ends of the ribbon trimmed, the card design was complete and ready for the mail.

This special card went in the mail to my best friend for over 60 years ~ as today is Cindy's birthday and this card was made for her!

Happy Birthday Cindy!  Hope your day is Fantastic!

Most Gracious Lord

This morning I'm posting with the Design Team for the Classic Design Challenge as we open the July challenge. This month we have two sponsors ~ The Paper Shelter and Fred She Said Digital Designs. Thank you to both sponsors!

For my project card, I selected the Daisies and Ladybugs from Fred She Said to make this card of encouragement.

I sized the daisies to about 4 1/2" wide and colored them with Copic markers.  I fussy cut around the flowers  and  added a small vellum die cut flower in the center of each flower, then added the small dot of 'bling'.

On the A2 card base, I added the peach polka dotted paper at the top, and the yellow gold  patterned paper at the bottom.  I added the gold lace across the area where the two papers met.   I added a wide piece of fun foam behind the fussy cut flowers and then added it at the top of the lace.

I stamped the sentiment from Sweet 'n Sassy, Timeless Hymns, trimmed close to the sides and die cut a decorative edge across the bottom.  As I secured it to the card front, I tucked the top edge under the lace.  Lastly I added the piece of tan twill at the card fold and knotted it just above the flowers.  The gold thread in the center of the twill really sets off the yellow gold shades in the card.

I'd also like to mention that the papers and embellishments used were part of an 'envelope' challenge on one of my card swap groups.  The hostess did a great job coordinating the papers for this challenge which made adding the flowers perfect for this design.

Poppies for a Perfect Day!

Today I'm sharing a birthday card I made this week with a beautiful new 'to me' stamp. It seems no matter how many flower stamps we have, there is always room for a couple more.   This one is Altenew's Iceland Poppies with the Altenew's Organic Linen Embossing folder for the background.

After stamping the image, I used Copic markers for the coloring.  I used a double notched rectangle die for the completed image.

I selected a 4" x 6" light green card base.  I trimmed the embossed folder paper down to about 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" and secured it to the card base.  Before adding the colored image, I inked the edges with Copic YG67.   I added a left over 1/2" strip of the green across the base of the image, then added the Happy Birthday fishtail sentiment tag to complete the card design.
