Fleur Brings You Get Well Wishes

With Whimsy new June release just waiting to pop on the screen  in less than 18 hours, their little Fleur, designed by Pollycraft wanted to slip in on the last day of May to send out hugs, kisses and get well wishes!

I have used the digital version for my card so that I could enlarge her to fit well on my 6" card base.  I used Copic markers for my coloring and several Gina Marie Designs die for the layers.  Light blue gemstones and a matching organza ribbon to complete this quick and easy card  ~ ready for mailing to someone who isn't feeling the best.

Beautiful Forever

Today's card has been quite an adventure in the making.  As a card maker, many of my cards start down one path and end up in another place. However, this one sure took many turns to get to the end result.  It could have easily been trashed along the way, but something kept driving me not to let it beat me - keep at it - you can do this!  I think the end result speaks for itself. I'm so very pleased that Hello, Sunshine Gal turned out to be a beautiful card for my friend. 

Since I posted on the Unity {Show & Tell} page what happen, I wanted to share here in my blog,  what steps I took to make the repairs.  It was quite messy and doesn't always work.  Lots of patience and blender pen for sure! 

I had finished the card assembly and was putting the 'dots & hearts' around the girl before adding the pearls and ribbon.  

I had picked Copic RV69, since I wanted a deep, dark burgundy color.  I started at the top right and worked around the girl, paying close attention KNOWING this was a new Copic marker and was 'juicy'.   Just as I got to her right elbow, 

in a instant FLASH!    A BLOB!!!

Unbelievable! Why there? Right by SKIN! And such a dark color! I just wanted to cry ~ but I posted on our Unity stamp support page and was filled with support and encouragement NOT throw her away!  

While normally putting a sentiment is usually the best way to cover a blob, it wasn't an option here for me.  I searched my other images for something to fit by her side, nothing just really grabbed me.  Everything took away from the bag of tulips or her lovely outfit.

  

Okay Pam - Try to clear it up.  You know it's going to be a mess! 

I filled my blender up and began to push the dark color away from the girl, knowing the color was still going to come back toward her too.  The key is to let it dry between coats, but it is hard to wait!  

I worked and worked and at bedtime last night... my little blob was now a huge blob.  Actually as bad as it looks, this is an improvement! 

This morning, it's good and dry and ready to continue.  

NO MORE BLENDER.  

Now I can only use Copic Colors as I add more of the BG11, BG13 and BG23 to the skirt; Y15 to the blouse and just a little E41 to her arm.  I also added the E41 to the rest of her skin to keep the skin tones close.  Then I matched up the 'spread' color to RV19 and began to fill in all of the background.  I used a white gel pen to add just a few white hearts.  Then several Gina Marie sunshine yellow pearls on the Tim Holtz Mixed Media background die.  The sentiment is from the January, 2019 KOM and the final touch the organza bow using Unity's white sheer organza ribbon.  What do you think?  The background is sure not what I started out with in my mind, but it's one saved card that I'm certainly not embarrassed to send out.

Even The Little Girls

When asked to do a special birthday card for a young girl and to be sure to have a horse on it, I immediately went to my Phyllis Harris images from Unity Stamps.  

While you may look at "Felt with the Heart" and wonder why the sender would pick this for a young girl's birthday - once you saw the beautiful photos from the family's Texas Horse Farm that she sent me to color the horse by, you would know this little lady will certainly grow up surrounded by so many beautiful horses.  Her family has a very deep and caring love for horses, it shows in their smiles and their stories.

The card has now arrived and is being framed to hang in 'Bailey's bedroom as a keepsake.  Boy that really warms my heart also!

Close Your Eyes....

and make a Wish...

Whimsy Stamps, Wee Snippet by designer Crissy Armstrong is resting on this bright mushroom deep in the forest, waiting to make your next wish come true!

Now available in digital, which is what I used for this card, I printed Wee Snippet on 110# Neenah card stock and used my Copics* for coloring.  I used a finger dauber and Stamping Up Cherry Cobbler ink for the rubbed in background and a misc dandelion stamp on each side at the base corners.  This piece was then die cut with my Pink & Main Stitched Rectangle to 5 1/4" x 4".  The card base is 5" square, covered with a black denim mat, then the colored image. The moon and the clouds are from a Galaxy paper pack and the hanging silhouette leaves are cut with a Elletina Crafts, Fern Die.

All set to wish someone a 'Fairy' Happy Birthday!

Thank You For Your Sacrifice

Today's featured card is honoring our military services as May is National Military month.  I also used the stamping off the edge technique demonstrated in the referenced YouTube challenge.

My image is a sweet but sad little girl drawn by designer Phyllis Harris for Unity Stamps.  The package is named ...feeling sad, feeling sorry.  I do not know the manufacturer or the center sentiment, the bottom is also a Unity sentiment.  The image is colored with Copic markers and die cute with Gina Marie Double Stitched Rounded Rectangles. For the finishing touch I added a small gold colored cross on top of the tag.

I hope you, as a card maker, will take time to make a card honoring someone in the service and send it out to them.  They certainly deserve recognition.  Thank you for stopping by to see what I made.

Wishing You {CHEER} All Year!

Today's featured card is yet another great Angie Blom stamp created for Unity stamps.  While it's named Celebrate the New, and many are using it for the fourth of July, I personally think it is perfect for our girlfriends birthday's.

One of the small things that I like to do when making cards for specific people is to color the hair similar to their's ~ thus the blonde for today's birthday chick.  The package comes with the sentiment "CELEBRATE", but I don't get to see her often, so switched to a greeting that covered all year.

In making the card, I separated the fireworks from the image of the girl and embossed them with hot pink and blue glitter.  Then I cut and matted those pieces on navy dotted Swiss paper. I Copic* colored the girl, changing the dots to hearts, did an extra wide fussy cut and a narrow outline edge with Copic #B39.  My Tattered Lace Lacy Pearls Square die was used to cut the pink floral background, then I mounted the fireworks and sentiment.  The image of the girl is glued at the bottom and raised at the head and arms with foam dots.

Spring is Just...

Happy Spring Morning to You!

I hope you can look out your window today and see the beautiful SUNSHINE!  

Today I'm showcasing another image from Polka Dot Orchard's, Good Morning Spring, digital package.  Here's my finished card, then a few details.

 For this card I used the to-go cup with the large flower on the front without alteration, printed on Neenah 110# and Copic colored.**  It was die cut with the Spellbinder  Deckled Mega Rectangle die and part of a green mini paper doily added to the right edge and secured on the back. I added three red dew drop in the center of the flower, using my everyday bookbinding glue. The card base is 6" square, with a black mat liner, then the green 'wall-paper' and the black window with sunshine shining through.  I placed a 1" strip across to represent a table or shelf, then added the colored to-go cup, the sentiment from the same package, and several yellow and red dew drops.

Coffee & Friends Make the Perfect Blend

Today's card is a Large card for those like me,
 who like to write a lot!  
It measures 7" wide and 5" tall.

I really liked the beautiful poppy in the Polka Dot' Orchard's package, Flowers in Bloom.  So I duplicated it twice and grouped the three flowers together, then laid them on their side.  I grabbed the single cup from the 'It's Your Day' package and layered it on top to cover the bare stems.  Then drew in a shelf and added an ornamental piece in the front.  I could have then reduced the entire image, but I wanted to be able to color the flowers as if they were life size, so off to the printer. 

I used Copic markers for coloring**and also used the basic bold coloring technique of 2-3 markers instead of my normal 4-7 per color shading. Then I die cut the large image with the biggest size of the Pink & Main Stitched Oval die set.  I made my card base out of a heavy weight white card stock to a 7" x 5" top fold base and added the light orange stripped matting first, then the oval shaped colored image.  Since I wanted the ribbon and bow to be vertical, I laid it across the card base, where it would go, then glued the top mat and image piece to the card base.  After that set, then I was able to complete the bow tying and adding the cross sticker to the cup.

You Are Everything Is Perfectly Beautiful!

Today's digital design is from Polka Dot Orchard's You Are Everything Flower Butterfly.  The softness of the two flowers on the cup is simply all that is needed on the card to create a beautiful card for any occasion. 

I happen to love pink and brown together and with the Tattered Lace Lacy Squares outside background die and the  Gina Marie open and delicate Loopy Square die showing the background design through ... just perfect!  I also added the double looped bow that if you look closely you can see has two loops on each side.

Whimsy Fairy Princess Bunny Release

When I saw this image in the line up for Whimsy images I thought for a second that she had got misplaced from the Easter files in April.  But NOT so.... This little Fairy Princess Bunny is right where she is suppose to be!

What fond memories she and so many of the wonderful images like her bring back to some of us Mothers and Grandmothers of our little ones watching our babies playing dress up and pretending to be the 'Momma' or the 'baby sitter'.

So today's image became just that for my project card - A thank you card for your baby sitter or other special care taker. 

The digital release of this image increases your flexibility to alter the image size to fit different size card bases and dies.  I was able to fit her exactly in a 3" circle and perfectly in my new Tim Holtz Sizzix Doily Die.  I added a floral print with the Momenta puffed heart die and die cut out the words 'a thankful heart' to go at the bottom.  To finish the card, I added clear wink of stella to her wings.

Blossom Like a Butterfly

Good Monday morning and welcome to Day Four of the Spring/Summer Coffee Blog Hop and my Second card entry.  For today's card I have combined Polka Dot Orchard's Life Like a Butterfly with Unity Stamps' Moving Forward. This beautiful Unity girl ~ with no name ~ speaks Spring to me and is perfect with the butterflies blossoms and gems of this card for the current Unity Girl Challenge.   

Here's my finished card, followed with a few details.

The card base is a 6" blue card stock that I cut to match the papers I selected.  I stamped the girl from the Unity Moving Forward package and printed the coffee cup with the trailing butterflies from the digital images in the Life Like a Butterfly files from Polka Dot Orchard.   After  Copic coloring, and die cutting the girl, I die cut a Gina Marie Stitched Circle out of matching blue card stock and added bling, then hand-cut the hot chocolate colored cup.  I separated the butterflies and added them at the top of the card with the additional sentiment and a heart. 

If you follow my blogging, you know how I love to combine stamps and images from several stamp companies.  I'm proud to say it does seem I can't make a card without using one or more of Gina Marie Designs awesome dies!  Thank you Polka Dot Orchard and Gina Marie Designs for your sponsorship along with many others in the Coffee Blog Hop!

How Blessed I am

Being out of town has delayed me a little, but I'm here now with my  FIRST entry into the 

'Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop 2019'.

Here's my finished card that I'd like to share with you, using the digital designs from Polka Dot Orchard's, Good Morning Spring package, designed by Jessica Burnham .  

 For this card I duplicated the center of the flower, and printed it and the Coffee to-go cup on Neenah 110# card stock, then Copic colored.**  I also printed the sentiment from the same package.  I cut out the duplicate flower and applied an even layer with the book binding glue that I use everyday for all my card adhesives - whether it's paper or all the way to heavy metal objects.  I'm not a crafter to have to sort through which glue works for this or that.  PH Neutral PVA adhesive by Lineco does it all, for me.  While the extra flower was drying, I used a 6" white card base and layered my blue floral papers to the design I wanted for the background.   I ran the colored to-go cup image through the Sizzix using a Postage Stamp die.  Once the extra flower was dry,  I glued it to the center of the to-go cup and added the string and painted wooden heart to die cut image, then glued to the card base to finish up the card.

This sentiment in Good Morning Spring is really sweet ~ 

"How Blessed I Am to Know You and to be Your Friend."

Dreamy Dragon Adventures

Well look who is sleeping on the job again.... 

It's Whimsy Stamps 'Dreamy Dragon' by artist Sylvia Zet, which is being released in digital format this month.

This chubby little fellow has been one of my personal favorites to use for milestone birthdays, as several humorous sentiments fit well with this sleeping beauty.  But for today's card, I selected the sentiment from Stamping Bella's, Petunia Gets a Piggyback.

The digital image is printed on Neenah 110# card stock and Copic colored**.  I used the Gina Marie Pleated Lace Circle die for the image and a miscellaneous sentiment die. The background die is a thick banner fishtail by Seacoast Dies.
