A Cool Ride ~ Blended Mountain Technique

After seeing a couple of cards on Pinterest with what appears to
be a blended mountain background technique,
(none of which included instructions) I decided to try my
hand at incorporating a digital copy of a stamp I had received
along with an inked background card to see what I could
come up with.
This is the scanned image that I wanted to use~

I took a blank 5 x 8 index card and my distressing blocks
along with several Stampin Up ink pads and went to work on the background, aiming for the mountains of the west.

Then I carefully ran the index card through the printer,
printing the wild horses onto the inked card.

Being from South Carolina, this Cool Ride would be a
DREAM for most of us, so I added the finishing touches with a bit
of green twine and a metal plate that says 'DREAM'.

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday? 351

I'm joining Stamping Ground today with

although mine has spread from my desk to the entire
floor around the room!  For today is a continuation
of yesterday and filling orders from my online
My little one person operation keeps me pretty busy
with preparing new items on Mondays,
posting new items on Tuesdays, and completing the orders
 on Wednesday & Thursdays.
I'm sure some would laugh at all the little stacks and trays of
treasured embellishments, stamps and dies.

This adventure goes way beyond de-stashing a large crafting
inventory.  So many doors have been opened to new and
special friendships for me.  My God continues to bless me
each and every day with wonderful ladies who share my
love of crafting and making our memories last through
scrapbooking, card making, photography etc.

And the final step on every package -
A reminder to every person that handles this package...

May your day be richly blessed!

A Special Present to Me!

My birthday was last week and one of the
special presents that I received was
a Heartfelt Creations card making class
from my Daddy!
Well....yes he had a little helper telling
him how much I would like this....

The event was hosted by the The Stamping Place in
Columbia, SC.  They have a sweet store tucked
quietly away on the west side of the city ~  well worth
a stop if you are in this area and only a few
miles for the airport!

Ready to get started....
with one of my card making sisters, Jennie.

Heartfelt's Instructor, Joel, led the group through making
two peacock cards and one owl card.
Each made with layers of embossed
and inked vellum and completed
with glitter and prills.

The owl was my favorite as the cage and branch
actually attach to the front of the card oval.

Now it's back home to see if we can practice
what we learned.
Thanks Dad for a great birthday gift!

Hide His Word In My Heart ~ Week 6

This week's scripture is from
1 Corinthians 13 versus 1-8,
a very familiar selection God word
in which the scripture speaks of Love.

To me personally, I found it very comforting
to just relax and
read through these versus
very slowly,
meditating on each one,
being reminded that yes,
God Love is simply
Unconditional...

A Vintage Valentine Card

Today I'd like to share with you a
Vintage Valentine Card that I made
during an Envelope Challenge from
the Addicted to Card Making Site.

The Hostess sends and 'envelope of supplies'
which you are required to use on your card.
This month we were allowed to add a sentiment and
and an additional embellishment if needed.

So here's basically what was in our envelopes,
as there were some variation in papers and images.

You can just imagine with 13 ladies getting
this envelope the differences in the end results
of their cards!

I didn't add a sentiment, but did add an additional
piece of ivory heart bordered lace on my card.
I also inked my edges and the doily,
used pop dots to raise the elements and
split the wide red ribbon to a narrow
strip under the bird button top.

The envelope challenge is one of my
favorite challenges because it's not easy.
And some days, that's a good thing!

Word Art Wednesday ~ Challenge #219

Thank you for joining me again this week for
as I add my card, based on their selected scripture.

This card is also part of of challenge from
where this month we are making
chemo angel cards for the entire month.
If you'd like more information on joining
in this mission, please let me know.

The selected scripture is John 14:6
Oh, the memories that filled my heart with this
scripture... during the 1970's when "THE WAY" Bible
was so very popular. This was also when I, as a
young teenager, professed my faith
during a town wide youth rally.
How very blessed I am to have been
raised from birth in the word of God.

Just as the sun warms our earthly bodies,
my heart is warmed and my soul
 is comforted every time
I read John 14:6.

May Jesus bless you today~

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 348

I'm checking in with all the ladies from Stamping Ground and Julia's Blog for WOYWD #348.  Be sure to see the other great ideas and creations posted.

After a long work day for me
and more heavy rains here in South Carolina,
I'm finally settled at my craft table pulling out stamps
and coordinating inks and papers for a sympathy card.

Turned out to be a good, simple design pattern that I
believe I'll repeat for future uses.

DIY Bow Maker

Today's Blog posting is a review of a previous tutorial on how to make your own Bow Maker out of a wooden Cribbage board or similar wooden pegged game board.

This little technique will have you making the perfect little small bows every time for your cards and scrapbook pages.

First, grab that old Cribbage board out of the game closet and saw it in half or go to the Dollar Tree and get a
wooden pegged game board.
You need the wood to be approximately 6 to 8" long.

The placement of the pegs determines the size of your bow,
so you'll have to play around to get the size you need.
Most cards use a bow about 1 to 1 1/2" wide,
so space your pegs about that far apart.

Next start with your ribbon on the left side, wrap around the left peg, then the right peg and cross over the top of the ribbon.

Then thread the right piece up and over the center, then under the bottom, bringing it back down to the bottom again.

Now very carefully, tie your knot, being sure you get it
"In the Center" of your two loops.

Once it's tight, then you can remove the pegs and straighten the bow loops a bit, flip it over and look at your pretty little bow!

All ready to add to your next cute card!
