I think most would agree that it takes special people to become medical professionals, to deal with the things they have to see and address day in and day out. Although not as frequent, I would also add our military, police force and even our fire fighters. For my personal upbringing in a small town, we depended on the volunteer fire department for many things other than fighting the few fires that happened. It was through their efforts and volunteered time that many local events and fund raisers were successful. They spend hours and days together bonding and building a trust that last for years and can never be taken away.
It makes me proud that my son and my son-in-law are both following suit behind their fathers in their hometown and are volunteer firemen. They don't back away from the call of danger although sometimes as a mother watching I might wish they would!
It's always fun to make their birthday cards honoring their chosen hobbies. My son-in-law recently received a new certification, passing a test that was quite a challenge for him. Saying that we are all proud of him is an understatement! However we would have been just as proud of his efforts had the outcome been different ~ he always gives 100%.
But today's card is for his recent birthday as he turned 37. Not a milestone birthday but definitely one with lots of candles! One where we might need that firetruck to come help!
Happy Birthday Brandon!
Keep up the good work ~ Ya make us proud!

Congratulations to your son and son in law for their volunteering. Kudos to your son in law for passing a hard exam. I would be so so proud too. Why oh why don't we have more men and women like this in our world? It would keep so many out of mischief and people would be so grateful for their volunteerism.
ReplyDeleteA very Happy Birthday to him with my thanks to both for volunteering. [Bunny]
I love your idea. I totally understand my dad, brother,my husband and know me all server in a small town. It is some times hard to find card making supplies to show them how much we appreciate their time and sacrifices. Tell him happy birthday and congratulations on his upgrade 👏those test aren't easy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful card Pam, and so well 'themed' for the birthday 'boy' - I can call him a boy 'cos I am on the other side of the world - oh, and he is younger than my offspring!

I agree with everything you said about firefighters! My late husband was the volunteer fire department's chief and he put so much into the program to help the community! Congrats to your son and son in law for their service! Your card is a show stopper for sure! Thanks for playing with us at Ike's World Challenges this month! Nan, DT
