How awesome it is that we serve a Risen Savior!

 For this card I started with Poppy Stamps Oval Burst die.  I made about a dozen of these, so some have the purple metallic  burst like this one and some have a yellow gold burst.  

Then I used the Trinity Stamps, On the Cross die set for the cross and sash.  I lightly shaded each sash with Copic E30 then added fun foam behind the back of the cross before  securing to the center of the oval burst.

I did the sentiments on the computer with a deep purple ink shade and used a fishtail die for each of those.  I secured each of the sentiments in the center just under the cross to complete the Easter cards for 2024.

This afternoon I'm sharing another page from my Scripture Art Journal.  This week we were given the book of John, Chapter 19 and allowed to pick one or two verses ourselves to make into our art image of the scripture.  

I've selected John 19, verse 2.

 This "Holy Portrait of Jesus with Crown of Thorns" Coloring Page is from Metamorphascend Art.

I used Copic V17 to highlight the edges of the completed image then secured it to the raised gold handmade background paper. 

After sizing the image to fit my journal, I added the selected scripture using coordinating purple ink.  I colored the image with Copic markers and trimmed near the edge.

Happy First Easter!

A few days ago I shared Baby Olivia's half year birthday and today I'm sharing her First Easter card.  With her Momma's love for Pooh bear, most of her holiday keep sake cards feature our favorite bear as the featured character!

This one is just perfect for Baby Olivia's first year collection!

 

To make this card, I sized the image for the 5 1/2" square sized card front.   Then I layered the sentiment close to the image and printed on Neenah 110# cardstock.

After Copic coloring, I used the Quickutz Nesting Frame 8 for the die cut edges of the image and the aqua patterned paper.  I used the Simon Says Stamps Twisted Stitch borders and light pink cardstock for the stitched scalloped border under the image.    Next I secured each layer on the green base as shown.   Lastly I wrapped the peach twine around the card front to complete the design and added a blank panel inside for writing.

Egghunt Time

Last week I shared the two Easter cards for the boys in the family of three and today I'm hopping back in to complete that trio with the card I made for the little girl. 

For her Easter card,  I decided to make her bunny in shades of pink with green accents. 

 

I made a 5 1/2" square card for this one and sized the image to just under 4" prior to printing.  I also made the tag in a different area and printed both on 110# Neenah cardstock. 

I used Copic markers for the coloring and die cut the image and the sentiment with Spellbinders Label 15.  I selected the green and pink solid card stock for the background and border but then felt like the card needed something else.  I used the horizontal and diagonal heart stamps from the Parkland Dainty Borders stamps set and stamped onto the background as shown.  Lastly I added the 'Egghunt' plastic embellishment at the bottom of the card to complete the design.

Disney Jasmine Celebrates Olivia's Half Year Birthday!

Today I'm sharing the next custom designed keep sake card for the monthly birth date of 'Baby Olivia's First Year'.  It's truly hard to believe that her half year birthday is already here!

In her monthly photo shoot, she will be wearing another handmade outfit made by her great grandmother.  This month the theme is Disney Princess Jasmine and this is the card I designed for this occasion.  

 

After sizing the image I used Copic markers for the coloring and then used the Carnation Crafts Pretty Shabby Square Labels for the decorative edges on the image and the aqua cardstock matting.  As you can see I altered the 'square' to fit the design.

I used a 5" x 6" top fold card base with the aqua cardstock then the heart patterned paper.  The sentiment documenting Olivia's 6 months was computer generated.  After securing each layer to the card base, I added the sentiment and secured it with the strip of gold washi tape.

Eggs in One Basket

Today's fun card is a Stamping Bella fluffy 'bunny' girl image called 'Squidgy in a Basket'.  All dressed in her frilly dress with the bunny feet and bunny headband, she's plopped in a basket with the cutest sentiment that is perfect for all your girlfriends. 

After stamping the image with Momenta Black ink, I added the sentiment using Versa Fine Clair, Warm Breeze.   I used Copic markers for coloring. I used Penny Black's Elegant Stitching for the decorative edge and added the coordinating purple plaid matting.  After securing to the A2 card base, I added the enamel dots to complete the design.

 

I really enjoyed making this one - so I made a few more!

Masculine Sympathy

Today's card image is from Whimsy Stamps, another by artist Jennifer Dove image, this one is Woodland Ducks.

I've admired this stamp many times and shied away from coloring it because of the level of detail. Yet each spring, these beautiful ducks are right here in the cove of the lake outside our home.  Finally I decided to take my time and give them a try. 

 I've been Copic coloring now for about eight years and that by no means makes me an expert. I am my worse critic and you probably are yours too.  I color because it is my joy and to not color an image because it's too hard or too detailed  - I just know better. 

These came out just like they were suppose to - original work by me.  Are they perfect? Nope but this card was filled with love and prayers as it was mailed to the family that lost their loved one.  The important part is finish the card and mail it.   Don't let receiving handmade cards become a dying art.

Hey Chick!

I'm posting today with the Polkadoodles Design Team and we are focused on the upcoming Easter holiday. 

 I've selected Winnie Sugar Sprinkles and used the Big Kahuna package for all the different elements in my card.

This special card went to my great granddaughter Wren.  

This card uses a lot of digital images and digital papers.  I sized Winnie, the chick, and the eggs first and placed them  where I wanted them to be on the card front.  On the next layer,  I pulled in the digital papers from the same package, and then the two sentiments.  I printed the 'Hey Chick!' separately so I could die cut it and have the white background.

After printing, I colored all the images with Copic markers and added the google eyes to completed the card.

Sending Smiles Across the Miles

Today I'm posting with the All Dressed Up Digital Stamps Design Team as we bring you more inspirational cards with this month's new images.  

My selected image is Daisy, this cute little pigtailed girl just swinging all her cares away! 

The long slenderness of this image would be perfect for a slimline or mini slimline card, which is where I started. But we all know we don't always end up where we start when we make a card!

I sized Daisy to just over 4" tall and printed her on 110# Neenah cardstock.  After coloring her with Copic markers, I used a cloud stencil and Quick Quotes Royal Blue Inking Chalk to add in the cloud background.  I selected the Momenta Nesting Notched Rectangle Slimline dies to maintain the slender design for cutting the image and the coordinating magenta mat.  I also used Copic BG05 to ink around the edge of the image to accent the edge of the colored image.  

At this point I came across the 'daisy' flowered background paper and decided to go with the larger card base rather than a slimline.  This also allowed me to use the sentiment from Taylored Expressions Friendship Strips, which I also mounted on the magenta cardstock.  Lastly I added the navy organza ribbon and bow to the card at the top fold to complete the Design Team card.

Digging Up Some Easter Fun!

Yesterday I shared the Easter card for the youngest boy in a family order and today I'm sharing the one for the oldest boy.   

Brandon has been a tractor, backhoe, excavator kind of kid since he was old enough to push and pull a toy.  Although his interest hasn't slowed one bit, it's not exactly the type of Easter image you can find a lot of.  In fact if you are searching like I was.... you may still be looking!  

I'm so grateful for my photography background and experience although limited with Photoshop Elements.  This image is actually three images combined - all Google free coloring pages.

Finding a backhoe or an excavator isn't that hard.  I selected one that had a larger window opening and downloaded it.  Then I found an image of a bunny holding an egg and layered him in the window area, covering the image that was there before.  Next I located a basket of eggs that showed a tall handle on each side and layered just the eggs into the scoop.  Sounds like zip, zip, zip and done but it took quiet a while and lots of erasing and redoing to get it to a printable state.  I'm sure others could have completed the task in minimal time, but I was pleased with the results.  I layered his sentiment at the bottom also before printing. 

After printing, I used LOTS of Copic markers for the coloring.  It turned out to be about a 5" square colored image once I added the black liner mat. I cut the mint green cardstock to make the 5 1/2" square card base and secured both layers to the front.  Lastly I added the metal 'Easter' embellishment at the top to complete the card design.

Loaded with Eggs!

I'm always excited to share cards I've made for my customers, and I will be sharing three Easter cards made for one family over the next week.

First for the youngest boy, I've made this lavender gray bunny that is loaded down with colorful Easter eggs. 

 

This was a free coloring page image that I reduced to an A2 card size, printed and have colored using Copic markers.

I used Gina Marie Designs Label Six for the cloud like border then mounted on an A2 card base that I had covered with a deep purple mat.  

When I printed the image, I also printed the sentiment separately.  I die cut it and a coordinating piece of light blue then secured both to the the top of the card front.  Lastly I added the 'Egghunt' embellishment at the bottom corner to complete the card design.

During this Difficult Time

For today's card I've used Whimsy's Cardinal by Artist Jennifer Dove.   Here at the lake, we love to hear and see so many cardinals at our bird feeders while many always think of angels and loved ones when they see this beautiful bright bird.

 When I colored him I had not planned to use this card for a sympathy card.  But when a friend suddenly lost her husband of 40 years, I knew this was the one I wanted to share with her.

After Copic coloring the cardinal, I used a Notched Rectangle die set for the image and the matting.  I inked the edge of the image using Copic marker E57 and then secured both pieces to the A2 card base.  

The stamped sentiments are from the Taylored Expressed Simple Sentiment Strips, Sympathy set.   Next I added the red organza ribbon at the top fold and included the Jesus fish in the knot to complete the card design.
