Look at the Birds of the Air

Today I'm sharing a little sweet bird that I started coloring on Saturday - the first time I'd picked my markers up since Covid came to visit, some 11 days or so earlier.  My side effect of 'Covid fog brain' led to my inability to focus on coloring and card making.

Oh what joy and gratefulness I had as I worked on this one!

Perching Bird by Crafty Individuals

I'll be using it for one of my card swap groups weekend challenge 'Something Spring'.  I for one, have already had enough cold ~ I'm ready for spring.

After Copic coloring the image I used the sentiment from Our Daily Bread, Sing for Joy.  The decorative edging is done with Penny Black's Elegant Stitching Rectangle Die set. The coordinating metallic dots are from Gina Marie Designs.

We pray daily for those affected by Covid and affected afterwards as well. It seems the long lasting side effects can be random, life altering and definitely unwanted.

Pretty in Pink

For our Polkadoodles Design Team Challenge this week we are thinking of spring and bringing you the Darling Buds Collection with their beautiful array of flowers.

For my card I've selected Primrose (DB8) and colored her in shades of dusty rose to light pink.

I started this card by sizing the image to about 3 1/2" tall and printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  The Copics I used are referenced below.  I placed her on a coordinating green small leaf print which matched the green leaves on her gown.  Next I added the small plaid scalloped edge border on the left and the additional silk flowers.  The tiny pearls  really set off the flowers and went perfectly in the flower on her forehead.  I completed the card with the matching pink organza double bow at the card base fold.

Cheery Slip & Lock

Thank you for all the get well wishes and AWESOME prayers!  I'm feeling much better today and am very grateful.  I thought this card would be appropriate, since it's bright and cheery!

This one is another Slip & Lock technique I made for a recent swap.

This design really works well with smaller images, although at first I thought this daisy was about too large!  After coloring with my Copics I used the Gina Marie Wonky Stitched Circle die to get those wonderful stitched lines around the circle.   I hand cut the tiny butterfly and added him using a couple of small foam squares.  The extra dimension was a perfect completion for the card.

It's My Turn

My cheery Monday greeting is a little poor this week as I'm under the weather.  It seems with the ramp up of the Covid variant cases you just feel like you are waiting on the axe to fall on you.  Well it has and I just don't like it.

So today's card is for all my friends going through Covid, round one or even multiple times!

This adorable nurse image is from Penny Black ~ Mo Manning's Wishing You Well.

To make this card, I've stamped the image on Neenah 110# cardstock and used Copic markers for coloring. Afterwards Gina Marie Designs Venetian Labels die set was perfect to die cut the image, matting and also the shape for the sentiment with coordinating mat.

The card base is a 5 1/2" square with the front covered with the heart patterned paper.  After stamping a generic get well sentiment,  I secured the layers as shown to the card front to complete the card.

Thank you for stopping by today to view my blog.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and invite you to “Follow” my blog and to visit my site ~ “Not Just Scraps” on Facebook ~ where you can purchase my cards.

A Special Surprise

How do you surprise the owner of an international corporation for her birthday?  Very QUIETLY!!!

And that's exactly what all of her Design Team members have been working on in the background for the last 6 weeks leading up to today.

Today is Nikky Hall's Birthday!

It's time to Celebrate and wish her the best on her special day!

For my card to Nikky, I selected Birthday Gifts, from the Winnie Winter Celebration.

A little birdie told us her favorite colors are shades of aqua, so I selected mostly Copics in those colors with a few brown and red accents.

When my coloring was completed I die cut the edge using Penny Black's Elegant Stitching die and then added several vinyl mini snowflake stickers.  I made the aqua card base to coordinate with the Copics used and covered it with the swiss dotted paper before adhering the completed image.  The snowflake border at the top was left over in my bits and pieces stash from Christmas and was perfect for the top of the card.  To complete the card I added the white organza double bow.

The other challenge was how do you know when to mail from the US to arrive at the UK on time?  Well that's an unknown as I write this blog, hope that it does arrive safely whatever day that may be. It's certainly filled with lots of love and Happy Birthday Wishes!

Your Biggest Fan

Today I'm joining in with Team C on the Colour Crazy Challenge Design Team and our sponsor Patties Creations.  I'm sharing her Dinosaur Love digital image with my slimline Valentine card done in non-traditional colors.

After sizing the image for a 3 3/4" x 8 1/2" slimline card, I printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  I used shades of purple and orange Copic markers for coloring.  When completed I added the sentiment from Penny Black Kisses and Wishes.  The decorative edge was added using Gina Marie Designs Big and Little Chain Slimline die.

I used a coordinating dark orange solid cardstock to make the card base and secured the colored image, then added the lavender organza bow to complete the card.

God Always Has A Plan

Today I'd like to share a masculine sympathy card I recently made.  One of the managers my husband works with lost his wife to Covid so of course he wanted to send a special card of condolences.  I selected Unity Stamps, 'Good Ol' Days by Tierra Jackson.

Like most guys, we knew that he liked vintage cars. I felt like the sentiment I selected was perfect both from the life's journey perspective and as an expression of comfort.

Here's the finished card.

After stamping the image on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used my Copic markers for coloring.  I selected the Memory Box Matinee Rectangle Layers Dies for the decorative edge and covered the A2 white card base with a coordinating stripped green paper.  After securing the image to the card base, I added the sentiment which I had matted with a solid black mat.

Although this was used as a sympathy card, it's versatile enough for about any masculine use.

Sending Kisses

After a long weekend of cardmaking with several girlfriends, I've got a nice stash of new cards to share with you.  What a fun and relaxing time along with getting to play with lots of my new stamps.

Today's card is from Penny Black and this image is called Kisses

To make this card, I stamped the image on Neenah 110# cardstock and used my Copic markers for coloring.  When the coloring was completed, I returned the image to my Misti and stamped the sentiment 'You Are Loved', using brown Versa Claire ink.

The edging is done using Pink and Main's Scalloped Edge Square die. I added a dark green mat, cut 1/8" larger than the square die.

The 5 1/2" card base is covered with a pink swiss dotted paper. Then I secured the colored image and mat to the card base.  Lastly, I added the white organza bow to the card at the top fold.

Sweet Treats for You

Happy Monday from Jan's Digital Stamp Shop's Design Team!

While winter storm 'Izzy' is dumping her snow over the east coast this weekend - I'm spending the long weekend with several girlfriends crafting away waiting for a peek at the snow that never came here where I am in SC.

For my Sweetheart Candy card I've selected the 'Slip and Lock' Technique.

I worked with two different images from this package to make this card.  First I took the 'double candy' image and duplicated it to cover the size of an A2 print.  This is my background paper which I cut into two rectangles to fit the front panels.

Next I sized the candy jar to about 2 1/2" tall, printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock and colored it with my Copic markers.
I used Penny Black's Elegant Stitching die to get the delicate edging.

For the card base I cut white card stock to 4 1/4" x 11" and folded the two sides in to meet in the middle. Each side is  covered with the solid mauve paper, then the printed candy image.

I also backed the colored image with the mauve paper.  To make the slider part, which attaches this piece to the base, I cut 2 pieces of white cardstock the same size as the matted piece (behind the colored image). Next the white pieces are folded in half lengthwise.   With the fold side toward the center, each of these are glued to the back of the colored image.  The video I followed is referenced below - it's probably easier to see this than to follow my directions!

However I do hope you will visit Jan's store and her Challenge blog.  There are several beautiful cards there by my fellow design teammates.  ALSO ~ Check out this month's Freebie in Jan's Store ~ Top Hat!

Dream A Dream

Today I'm posting with the Colour Crazy Challenge Design Team and our sponsor this week is Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Designs.  For my project card, I've selected Dark Lilies.

This image was quite large and I loved coloring it!  Of course those that know me, know I love hummingbirds so picking this one was an easy choice.  I enlarged her just a little to fill the image to an A2 card front size and printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  My Copic colors are listed below for your reference if desired.  I selected a deep purple 1/8" mat and then a green and purple patterned mat to cover the white 5 1/2" card base. The purple organza bow is tied around the patterned mat and card base prior to adding the colored image and solid mat.

I've completed the card by adding the sentiment from Stampendous, Floral Reflections which I stamped with Versa Fine Clair Monarch.

Be Grateful

Happy Friday morning from the Polkadoodles Design Team.  Our challenge this week was to make a Cheerful Winter card.

I've selected Winnie Heavenly Angel from the Woodland Songtime Collection.

As you can see, my finished card is a 'fancy' fold where the back is longer than the front.

To make this card I sized the image to almost 4" square and colored her with my Copic markers.  I added layers of soft lavender clouds using a die cut stencil and Purple Passion chalking ink.

After die cutting the edge, then I added clear Wink of Stella to all the edges of her hood, sleeves and dress ruffles.

And Crystal Stickles for the snow ~

Once dry, then I added the sentiment on the back left and the three tiny gems to complete the cheerful winter greeting card.
