Make Your Heart Sing

One of the weekend challenges was to share a favorite - it could be a favorite color, favorite stamp, favorite crafting technique, etc.

I selected this Stamping Bella image, Bundle Girl with Branch, because the little bundle girls just still my heart!

Isn't she the cutest?  I just want ALL of the Bundle Girl images but that's a dream and I'm blessed so much already.

For this card, I stamped the girl to the right of the card front and added the sentiment to the top left.   I've colored this one with my Copic markers and then used the Penny Black Elegant Stitching die for the edge.

After finding the soft patterned background paper, I die cut the Memory Box, Khloe Heart Duet out of coordinating solid cardstock.  I secured them down the left side and added one of the tiny hearts at the top of the hanging strings.

Then I secured the colored image across the card in the middle, over the double hearts to complete the card design.

May God Comfort You

Today I'm sharing a card of comfort that I recently made for one special friend who tragically lost her daughter and granddaughter in a house fire.  Unless you've been in that situation or one very similar, we can never begin to image how turned upside down the entire family has been.

This image is from Whimsy Stamps, DoveArt, Flower Lily by Artist Jennifer Dove.

I've printed the image to fit an A2 size card base and colored it using my Copic markers.  The edging die is done with Penny Black's Elegant Stitching Rectangle.  The sentiment was added from my miscellaneous stash of Sympathy sentiments.

The card was sent with love and lots of prayers for comfort and healing.

Slimline Birthday Wishes

Today I'm sharing a slimline birthday card I made using  Polkadoodles 'Ruby Gift' image.  I actually won this image from one of the blog challenges back when Bugaboo was still in business.

To make this card, I stretched the image to about 6" tall and colored her with Copic markers.  The patterned paper is also from Polkadoodles Winnie Celebrations 3, Papers 1, P10

I really like the new Slimline Edger Dies from Pinkfresh Studio  ~ which is used on the patterned paper, image and card base.  For this type slimline, I made the base card to fit the image and paper. Never confine yourself to standard size card bases. Be creative!

After I'd added all the layers and sentiment to the card base, I completed the card with a lavender organza ribbon.

A Day to Celebrate!

Today is a special day of celebration for my brother and sister-in-law as they enjoy their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

They recently moved back to SC after being in Texas for many years.  As they begin their semi-retirement, a camper was definitely in their plans since they enjoyed that hobby so much when their kids were young. With that in mind, I decided to make their anniversary card using Sizzix Travel Trailer die.

Here's how it turned out.

I thought it turned out super cute!

Another family tradition we have is special ornaments for our trees.  The camper charm shown in the bottom left of the above photo is what I included in the card to be hung on their tree in honor of this year!

Here's wishing Mike & Judy many more happy years ahead.

Truckin' By With A Christmas 'Hi"!

Today I'd like to share this months FREE image from "Imagine That Digi Stamps".  If you're a blogger and haven't found this site - you need to check it out for the details on how to get your free image and their monthly challenge.

For December, the image is Truckin' Santa Paws - another adorable image for Christmas especially if you are a puppy lover!

For my card, I sized the image to fit an A2 card front and have used my Copic markers for coloring.

I used Whimsy Stamps Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Dies for the image and the patterned mat.  After securing the layers to the card front, I added the fishtail cut banner with the sentiment from the same set.  Then I added 'Diamond' Stickles to the snow and fur on the hats to complete the design.

Don't Be Afraid, For I am With You

I'm starting off the week with this card today which reminds us of the scripture in Isaiah 41:10,  not to be afraid, or discouraged... For God is With Us!

What wonderful inner peace we can gain from our Faith in the Master creator and protector.

After printing the scripture for the card, I looked through some images that I'd printed out a good while back.  The image of this girl with her long flowing hair seemed to be the right one to use - clean, crisp and a beautiful lady.

Unfortunately, the image wasn't marked for the manufacturer or name.  I colored her with my Copic markers using shades of blue for her hair to coordinate with the background paper.  After coloring, I fussy cut her out and recolored the side of the paper to take away the 'white' edge.

The card base is 5 1/2" square top fold.  I covered the front with the blue stripped paper that I had die cut using the Pink & Main Scalloped Square die.  I also used this set to die cut the sentiment so the edging would be consistent.

Lastly I secured the image and sentiment to the covered card front and she's ready to mail.

Feeling Better Soon

Today's card is featuring Darcie's Clear stamp set Purrfect Day (POL239).

To make this card I stamped the image of the girl pulling her cat and the sentiment from a miscellaneous set on Neenah 110# cardstock.  I've used my Copic markers for coloring and the Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Stitched Rectangle for die cutting.

When I found the background paper that I wanted to use, the faux stitching was white.  It looked fine on the card after putting the layers on the card base.  However when I added the twine web topping, those stitch lines looked out of place.  To fix this, I took a fine tip red marker and traced the stitches to make them a matching shade of red. Just a small detail but it really pulled the card together.

Hauling In the Birthday Wishes!

Today I'm sharing a birthday card I was commissioned to make... Boy birthday and he loves all kinds of tractors, heavy equipment and especially Excavators!

I don't know about you - but a stamp or image of an excavator just isn't in my large inventory.  I was thrilled to locate this single line drawing that will work great - and here's the completed card.

I used Copic markers for the coloring and then added the deep blue clouds.  For the clouds, I used a 'cloud stencil' and a smoky grey/blue Distressed Oxide.

For the sentiment, I merely typed and printed it from my computer, then backed it with the red accent paper.

I cut a 12 x 12" blue cardstock in half and made the card base.  The sketch layout was one that we'd used not too long ago for a weekend challenge.   The yellow dotted paper is cut 1/4" smaller than the card base.  Then the vertical paper is added as the top layer.  I then positioned the colored image, secured it, and then added the matted sentiment.

I think it turned out super cute and his Dad seemed very pleased when he picked them up. So how about you ~ when's the last time you've made a card using  a sketch challenge based on the others you saw?

You're a Kola-ty Friend

Today I'm sharing a friendship card made from a stamped tag.

This cute little Koala came from the Pink & Main, Koala-ty Friends set.

After coloring the image with Copic markers, I searched for a black and white patterned paper to coordinate with the tag. Love this palm print with the bright white centers.  Almost looks like light shining right on the little guy!

I used a black A2 card base and covered it with a deep red/burgundy paper.  I cut the palm leave paper into an oval shape and secured it to the card front.  Lastly I added the tag with an enamel dot at the point where the hold would be punched.

Baby's It's Cold Outside

Happy Monday!

Isn't it hard to believe today marks HALFWAY through the month of November!  Time is flying to the end of the year and today Jan's Digital Design Team is back with some really cute winter themed cards.

You can click HERE to hop over to see the DT's cards and you will notice most of them are centered around her new image,  Baby It's Cold Outside.   Here's my project card using that image.

After sizing the image to fit my A2 card base, I printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  I've used Copic markers for coloring these adorable penguins.

The card base is covered in an aqua/green shiny metallic paper with reflective lighter aqua dots.  Then I secured the image to the front and added several 'stars' that I fussy cut from the background paper.

Best part - another Christmas card for my stash!

Back on Your Feet

Today's card is one I made for a 'get well' card swap using Digi Doodles Studio's image from Chicken Soup Pairables.

For my card, I sized the image to about 3" square and printed it on Neenah 110# cardstock.  I've used Copic markers for coloring.  I matched the matting paper with the blanket and used an A2 size ivory card base.

This is a great image to color up and have on hand, ready to send.  There is still so much sickness and your cards mean something to the receivers.

New Paper Storage Adventure

For today's posting, I wanted to share a little from my reorganizing of my craft room.

Before I start, here's today's card ~ one of the results of this project.

After many years of scrapbooking, when I turned to card making I had an endless supply of 12 x 12 papers and pads.  My huge floor to ceiling bookcase was crammed full, yet I started buying the convenient 6 x 6 pads. I found that the shelves or paper, although organized by color, were hard to see, hard to get just one sheet out, and just overwhelming for the most part.

So, as crazy as it may sound, I started cutting the 12 x 12 papers into 6 x 6. Yes, it didn't take long before I was saying to myself, 'Who's bright idea was this?  I'll never get to the end!".  But I kept working each day until I had most of the patterned paper done!  I elected to leave the solids as now I had them down to a manageable area and could see those shades.

8 1/2" x 11" and 12" x 12" papers

I also found that the priority mail mailing box (shoe box size) worked perfectly to hold the newly cut 6 x 6 papers. They are easy to see now, and the trays can even be pulled out and moved to my workspace if necessary.

Eventually I'll go back and cover the boxes ~

6" x 6" papers

The results have been amazing!   Now it's not a chore to find the right background paper AND I'm using the huge stash of paper on hand!

So back to today's card - a sketch challenge - This adventure was certainly worth all the time it took.

Happy crafting my friends!

Put a Star on the Tree

Today I'm here to share with you the card I made for a weekend challenge 'card with a tree'.

For this challenge I selected Whimsy Stamps, Penguin with a Star from my stash when I was on the Whimsy Digital Design Team.

After printing the image on Neenah 110# cardstock, I used Copic markers for coloring.  The die cut edge was done using Gina Marie Designs Pierced Nested Labels.

The A2 card base is covered with black snowflake paper.  After securing the image to the card base, I added diamond Stickles to the snowflakes.  This added the little bit of sparkle to complete the card.
